  1. Actually joined it yesterday and found out what i needed to know :) Cant wait to use her curriculum in March next year :D
  2. Im going to be doing Diana Warings Programs but i wont be able to start of afford them until the end of febuary 2012. Her programs dont include american history or government so I was thinking i could do Notgrass Exploring America and Exploring Government this year she will also be doing Apologia Biology already w/ an online class 3 days a week, she also does math with aleks, and she will have 2 electives P.E and Disease Study (just researching and writing a paper on a new Disease every week) Do you think this is too much for a 9th grade 13 year old DD? And do you think its okay to do this classes before i start the other ones? Shed do this followed by Ancients,Romans Reformers Revolutionaries and then World Empires, World Missions, World Wars. Thanks :)
  3. i was wondering what each one gives you credits for? as i have to make a transcript.
  4. Thanks for your help! :) but ive decided im not going to do either :P! I LOVE the looks of Diana Waring's Curricula  , im not even debating this anymore after seeing this, but im not sure what credits it covers ? do you know? i'll also be making another post but thought id ask here too! :D Finally seems like everythings starting to come together! Just dont know about the credits. I will be waiting until febuary to purchase the Ancients Civilizations so i have my tax refund and we can get the deluxe pack of books for her and my ds, so untill then im going to have her and my ds study and try to memorize the capitals :patriot: , what could i count that as? I was also thinking i might have her do Notgrass Government or Economics just to fill this gap of time but i need to find out whats covered in all 3 of the curricula. If i did Notgrass it might consider just have her doing outlines for some writing and so i can use her outlines for each subject and have my ds practice writing with this, i found a program that allows you to type anything and it make it into a perfect worksheet with lines and dotted lines to trace. Sorry about all the rambling i tend to do that ;)
  5. i actually think im leaning towards BF ancients for a couple reasons, my ds 18 with a learning disablity will be able to do *some* of this when i add cliffnotes, and use younger/easier versions of the books when possible, and im thinking id purchase the intermediatate and senior high upgrade pack. What got me leaning towards BF is i purchase the U.S and World History study guide to download looking it over i LOVE it!! the ancients is set up differently but i like that i can include my ds, and that its not just reading, the have diffrent suggestions for movies and i can add projects and more in-depth studies on a certain person or place w/o worrying about getting so behind like i would with MFW, and BF its only planned for 3 days a week so i'll have room too add more to it. Im going to count this as Ancient Literature on the transcript, i will also include CLP language excercises review, and then once thats finish easy grammar plus, i think i have sufficent writing assignments, in history and electives. Im looking for some bible study? have any suggestions? thanks for your help :)
  6. I dont mind what order she does history, as long as she does World History, American History,American Goverment, and Economics. I also will have her do Geography too like World Geography when she's taking World History, same for American History and U.S Geography. I want her to learn and meomorize each states capital. I do want the Literature to go along with what she's studying, thats why i like that MFW has it all together even including Bible. Im only requiring 2 years of Bible, id like her to have 4 but if its just too much i wont sweat it. She's actually taking Biology on virtualhomeschoolgroup.com w/ Apologia and will continue it until the end of April. I have many electives figured out, she will have 4 electives each year, but only semester classes, but she'll take them all at the same time like, Health Monday, Wednsday, Friday and a diffrent Elective Tuesday and Thursday. She will be doing this with 4 subjects so it will only be 2 electives a day. She will do P.E. as a full credit daily though, if she joins soccer again later on i might count it as another .5 P.E. credit if i could? I am pretty much set on math, unless someone thinks ALEKS needs more supplement, and i do plan to have her go at a faster pace and work through the summers so she can get to Calculus by 12th grade. I dont have a foriegn language, and im not sure how to go about this? she wants to learn both spanish and french like i mentioned but i dont know, i think it would be too hard. What do you think/suggest? I really am liking Beautiful Feet, I looked at the sample page from the guide and it looks perfect for what we need it has the assignments for each book and doesnt tell you you have to read this today that tomorrow etc, I know my daughter would LOVE this but im looking to see the reviews on the books, as i mentioned she gets bored easily, but i guess if shes not liking a particular book i could ditch it and replace it with something else? Also wondering if i can count this as her Literature part of English Maybe if not soley i could use a study guides for some books for literature anayalisis, using something else for Grammar and Compostion (she will use CLP language exercises for a grammar review this summer). Sonlight will be too expensive for me to purchase for the 9th grade school year, but i could afford MFW. Thanks for replying!
  7. Well this is our second year homeschooling the first year it was for 8th grade, we were very relaxed just had the same textbooks as the ps, now that were all adjusted to homeschoooling i want something more then just those textbooks, It will be for dd 9th grade, Im pretty overwhelmed with all the choices and transcripts and credits, I already know what were using for math though, were going to use ALEKS i actually found out from posts on here. But for everything else im pretty much lost at what to choose and even what i want , My dd is very independent, doesn't enjoy anything too repetitive (she needs something repetitive for grammar though), strong reader but only enjoys reading when she thinks the books are interesting, very strong in math and writing, needs help in grammar, finds history boring in her words "its just a bunch of dates and people that have nothing to with now, why do we need to learn it" :smash: , is good in science but needs something interesting to get her into it loves experiments, is eager to learn BOTH French and Spanish :D, pretty much enjoys most electives. I think she gets bored pretty easily so she needs something really engaging. I'm a single mom, so it needs to be independent and shes independent anyway. I think she would enjoy literature-based programs especially for history but im scared to buy them, because im not sure if she like all those books and if she starts to find something boring, it'll be a challenge to get through them. I've looked at sonlight, they are pretty expensive! They look like they have A LOT of scheduled reading and not enough other things, i think she'd get bored with just reading all day. I really like the looks of MFW but im not sure if she'll like all the books either. I've glanced at beautiful feet and there U.S & World History look like they'd be perfect for her, they'll give her what she needs for history hopefully without being boring to her, all-though im not sure how great the books are. I've looked at ACE PACE's, especially for science with the dvds they are pretty expensive but if they're worth it I'll buy them I've also just considered using textbooks still because im really scared to take that leap with all the reading from different books, so I've looked at Abeka and BJU, im not sure if there as independent as we need them to be though, and i know they'll "get the job done" but im pretty sure my dd will enjoy them as much but im worried going into high school and dealing with transcripts and credits and trying to use something else. well if you read this long Thank you! :) hope someone has some suggestions/advice as im really overwhelmed and have no one to talk to about homeschooling.:bigear:
