  1. I use bouillon all the time--the low sodium variety--so that I can make it stronger and use less liquid and have more flavor.
  2. I'm Sandy and, obviously, I live in Indianapolis. I've been married to dh for 21.5 years. We have 3 wonderful kids--a daughter who's 20 and two boys, 17 and 7. My older kids attended a private, Principle Approach school in the beginning of their educational journey. We started homeschooling 10 years ago and I have 11 years to go!
  3. We've used, are using or will use... SMARR Literature (mostly the lists with our own assignments) Apologia Biology, Adv. Biology, Chemistry, Adv. Chemistry, Physics TT Alg. 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus Chalkdust Geometry BJU World History A Basic History of the United States The Making of America (government) Understanding the Times Auralog Spanish
  4. I had a hospital birth, birth center birth with a midwife and a homebirth with two midwives. All birth experiences are special events...but I have to say, my homebirth topped the list for me. DS was born on Thanksgiving 2000 and was greeted by his brother and sister as well as dad, the midwives and two friends. It was so wonderful to be in my own home, my own bed, etc. I'd do it again in a heartbeat...if we were having any more. (But since I'm now 50, hmm, it's time to move on to grandchildren!)
  5. The question makes me think of a family I heard about that didn't use TP to save money. They used rags and washed them... That borders on too frugal for me!
  6. I didn't realize how fast the board changed under the old format. This is going to take some getting used to.
  7. The bottle thing is just bizarre...can't imagine adults participating in that. I actually didn't mind the TP thing. I thought it was funny to see how far off some people were. I guess it's one of the few times in life where I didn't mind my size.
  8. I second Regena's thoughts. I purchased a pkg (on ebay) for a project. I just wasn't impressed with it at all.
  9. It's supposed to drop to -2 tonight with a wind chill of -20. Pretty cold even for an Indy gal...
  10. I second this...coat the hands liberally and put socks over them for the night. Several days of this and you'll see lots of improvement!
  11. OK...I feel better now. I'll only have 22 years in when my youngest graduates!
  12. Midwest convention is in Cincinnati, OH on March 27-29. Last year we were privileged to have SWB speak (and come to our WTM "board" meeting). This year Jessie Wise is speaking along with a lot of other great folks. You can find info at http://www.cincinnatihomeschoolconvention.com/
  13. Wow! I just realized that I've been hsing for 10 years! Guess time flies when you're having fun????? DD is a junior in college, ds1 a junior in hs and ds2 is in...1st grade! I have a looooooong way to go.
  14. Re the PSAT...you don't need to worry about that till the sophomore year--and then it will be a "practice" test. Only juniors taking the PSAT are considered for National Merit status. Honestly, my ds didn't take it till his junior year. CLEP can be a good way to earn college credit BUT a word of caution...be sure that having that credit wouldn't knock your child out of a program or scholarship opportunity. For instance, my ds is looking at a local pharmacy school. If he has 11 or more CLEP hours, he'd be considered a transfer student which would virtually knock him out of any possiblity of acceptance to the school. A bit of time with the schools your dc are interested in would be a wise investment.
