  1. I figure if I'm going to the trouble of cooking a turkey, I might as well cook a BIG one. I always look for 22-25 lbs...and I always cook it upside down in a bag. It's not pretty when it comes out, but it's really moist from the breast sitting in all the broth. Yum!
  2. Amazon's deal today...complete Firefly on Blu-ray for $18.99 or DVD for $14.99. Merry Christmas to me!
  3. I tried all of the above and many other things (including freezing, food grade hydrogen peroxide, apple cider vinegar, Vit A) before breaking down and asking my doc for Aldara. It's expensive but worth absolutely every penny. It never hurt and worked wonderfully. I am thankfully wart-free again! I'd try other things before Aldara but if you don't get rid of it or more show up, get treatment ASAP.
  4. I did this...easy and worked for me. http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/disorders/bppv/bppv.html
  5. The Vitamix on the Costco website includes wet and dry containers. Would you need something else besides? I've been thinking of saving for one of these. For $650, the food should jump in and fix itself!
  6. Is it more on one side than another? If so there's a simple procedure you can do yourself. I was dizzy for 3 weeks--miserable, miserable, miserable. Did this procedure for 2 minutes and it was GONE.
  7. :grouphug: I spent three days in the hospital with my youngest after having a wonderful home birth. The nurses couldn't have been more helpful or respectful of my wishes re: nursing. Your situation is a nightmare. Find someone who will listen to you. Ask for the nursing supervisor. Insist that you get some help with nursing. They should be providing you with meals and liquids as a nursing mom.
  8. That is an "s" word in our house...worth .25. Pay up. :toetap05: (Can you tell how I feel about frozen precipitation?) :001_smile:
  9. I hope you can get it back. Keep trying...surely someone there will be willing to mail it to you.
  10. That's funny...I've always said that if it ain't mooing it's done enough. I have absolutely no advice for the OP. Steak is such a rare event around here that we've never gotten around to figuring out how to cook them well. (well as in good--not well as in shoe leather...:) )
  11. When things didn't go Dad's way during a game, he'd say, "For cryin' out loud in the bucket!" We're not really sure WHAT that means...but it's fun to say!
  12. My bf was a stylist bc (not the ice age...before children!). She colors and cuts my hair. Bless her! Before we moved back from FL, bf taught dd (then 12) to color my hair. It's really not that hard.
  13. We always go to my sil's home for Thanksgiving which is 2 hours away from where we live. On the way home, Thanksgiving evening, we break out the Christmas music... UNLESS, my ds's birthday happens to fall on Thanksgiving Day, THEN Christmas music has to wait until Friday. (cause we're too busy making a big deal of the birthday.)
  14. I know you're really asking about younger children...not only has my dd read the series but she based her master's thesis on them. (to be finished in the next couple of months--yea!)
  15. Send them this make-ahead recipe from Ree...maybe they'll get the hint! http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/11/delicious_creamy_mashed_potatoes/
  16. Our state museum participates in the ASTC program. Cost for a family membership (two adults and all children under 21) is $59. We more than make our money back just in the ATSC program alone...several Chicago museums as well as the Louisville Science Center and St. Louis Science Center participate. (all within relatively easy driving distance but over the 90 mile requirement.) The Children's Museum here is $120 for a family membership, which is also two adults and all children under 21. Last year I purchased that one at half price through Groupon (or something similar). Unfortunately, the Children's Museum doesn't participate in the ACM program.
  17. I just popped in the AAS CD. There is a small, very subtle difference in the "w" and "wh" pronunciations. Crank up the sound on your computer, play one, then the other, several times and you will hear it. Sometimes you just have to exaggerate for spelling...
  18. Had DC1 in the hospital with medical staff and dh. DC2 was born at a birth center with a midwife, dh and friend in attendance. DC3 was born at home with two midwives, dh, two friends and two older siblings in attendance. (Kids stood at my head and didn't see anything inappropriate. Great birth control for soon-to-be teens!)
  19. I stop...and I grew up in Indiana. I was taught to pull over as a matter of respect. Just last week I attended the funeral of a dear friend. We had a long drive to the cemetery from the church...almost all the cars pulled off and waited.
  20. A Cancer Battle Plan details the success of a woman who was basically sent home to die from breast cancer. She'd tried all the medical treatments with no success. The alternative treatment had her cancer free in five weeks. My bf's dh recently used this nutritional plan when he had a cancer scare...and is now cancer free.
  21. I just bought this one for my 5th grader...and we're really happy with it. http://www.amazon.com/American-Heritage-Student-Dictionary/dp/0618701494/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1318823869&sr=8-6
  22. I have Roberts' Gluten-Free Baking Clasics for the Bread Machine, and my dh is loving the bread he's getting. I did have to make an investment in flours...but that's OK. He's eating fresh, tasty bread on a regular basis now.
  23. Did you see "The Conspirator"? I watched the whole movie thinking, "I know that woman; I know that woman." It was Robin Wright. Great acting; depressing movie. Love this reunion pic!
  24. My last two didn't start solids until they were 8 months. I think the first thing my youngest had was small bits of the bagel I was eating. He went straight to "people" food. :-) I think you know when they're ready, and I think you'll know what to give your little one. Trust your mom instincts.
