  1. Dear Welltrainedminders You might be pleased to learn that Periplus Home Education have considered your suggestions and now uses the business name Periplus Education when working outside of home education community. Thank you for all your opinions!
  2. As Periplus Education are currently devising more online education services for children aged 10 to 16 both schooled and home educated they are really interested in hearing from parents what services you need and would love to receive for your DC. They would appreciate if you could spare some time and answer the following questions. You can do this either here or send your answers to info [at] peripluseducation.com. As a thank you they will enter you into the draw for the free place on their Autumn Accelerator course starting next week. To enter the draw please fill in the booking form and put 'mind-survey' into the 'Voucher' field. Our small survey Have you, or are you ever likely to use private tution for your child? Are you aware this can be done effectively on line? What do you think is a reasonable price for an hour of private on line teaching? Would you consider using on demand access to live teacher support? Would you consider paying for your child to work in an on line supervised classroom with access to a teacher when required? Thank you!
  3. I thought you might be interested in this document if you haven't come across it yet. http://media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/pdf/t/the%20school%20funding%20settlement%20for%202011%2012%20the%20pupil%20premium%20and%20dedicated%20schools%20grant.pdf (potentially interesting are pp.14-15) Autumn Accelerator :grouphug:
  4. Many thanks for all your support - the application has been submitted in due time and we still keep receiving expresses of interest in the proposed virtual free school for home educators via http://www.periplus.org.uk/free-school. I'll keep you updated about the progress of our application. Should you wish to see the synopsis of our proposal I can post it here (if it is allowed).
  5. :iagree: We do have a primary tutor for one-to-one tuition but she has no been trained yet to deliver on-line group lessons. However, as we receive more and more enquiries about this we are now considering developing programmes for primary age home educators. Many thanks for bringing this issue again.
  6. Periplus Home Education is one and a half year old. If the proposal were to go ahead the school would be incorporated as a separate trust (Periplus Virtual Academy) under the overall company umbrella. Periplus Home Education will therefore only share expertise with this free school but will not be a free school itself.
  7. Sorry, Megan, I shan't be able to comment on whether I've heard of Periplus as I am working for it :blushing: but as for your question Yes, Periplus Home Education is a British not-for-profit organisation based in London. Our teaching staff including the Principal are also British (apart from several language teachers who are from EU) and UK based. Hope this will help.:001_smile:
