  1. I just want to make them less glaringly noticeable. It's hard because I cannot seem to train my hair/bangs to sweep beautifully across my forehead to hide them, grrr. lol I've got a chicken pox scar that enhances one of the lines of the 11 even more. I'm up for facial products of any kind, fillers, botox, other procedures, whatever. Just to see what's out there. I take good care of my skin and feel like I'm at the end of the line with my regular routine--which does include exfoliants, etc. but is still pretty basic. Thanks for any tips!
  2. Oh my gosh, I thought this happened but then convinced myself it couldn't possibly be. LOL!!
  3. Just so you know, that has NEVER happened to me before! lol
  4. Forgot... I was looking into having my dd take it for her migraines and after doing some research it seems like taking it with some fat is best for absorption (along with the black pepper). Anyone notice migraines going away with turmeric use? http://naturalsociety.com/turmeric-absorption-super-benefits-black-pepper/ https://purathrive.com/turmeric-omega-3s-help-treat-headaches-migraines/
  5. OK, I take Turmeric capsules (from Vitacost) and love the anti-inflammatory effects, particularly for my knees. The capsules are kind of big so you need to drink a lot of water...at least I do, because they can feel sort of stuck for me. Well, today I *burped* about 10 minutes after taking mine and my mouth was CONSUMED with pepper taste and I almost choked! It was SO nasty! LOL I thought of this thread and started laughing. ANYWAY...I don't like the taste of turmeric at all so that's why I take the caps. Eating it daily is just out of the question so capsules it is! I just need to drink and be sure they get DOWN. :D This is the one I take, btw. 6. I think having a place ready would help a LOT so that the added stress of her trying to figure out living arrangements on her own doesn't get thrown back at you. It stinks, it's yet another thing you have to consider and do for her, but as someone who got kicked out of the house as a senior in high school (granted, I could go live with my dad and stepmom), it was probably the BEST thing for my relationship with my mother. For many reasons, we had no trust or respect between us and we both needed the distance. I was a brat, too, who thought I knew everything! Now, we speak almost every day and she is my friend. :) You need the separation, IMO, and when she has the space and time on her own to look back on your relationship it may help a great deal. And continuing to live on your own in a place you already have will be an easier adult decision for her than where in the world to go once you've been asked to leave! (Scary! Though necessary, I know.)
  7. I take some frozen mixed berries, microwave for a bit, then squeeze out the juices (through a cheesecloth or think towel) into a little bottle and keep in the fridge. I just add it to water or tea as I like all week. For some reason, if I make infused water/tea it tastes funky after 4-5 days to me and I think it's the fruit so I keep it separate.
  8. The mid-rise chinos at Land's End are pretty good. Some of my dds like those. https://www.landsend.com/shop/womens-shorts/-/N-fy6?cm_re=lec-_-wms-_-global-_-glbnv-shorts-_-20160316-_-txt
  9. Women have to be hairless down there? LOL I didn't realize so-called independent women were still bowing to the porn industry and the men who run it or get their preferences from it. Anyway, another great thing about marriage. Only one other person to please. And my dh wears facial hair--and has for quite a while--because we both like it. :)
  10. I think 3 regular bras, at least 2 sports bras if you work out regularly, and 1 good fancy dress bra (strapless or convertible to strapless, whatever). I might even throw in a couple sleep bras. My bras last quite a long time so this may seem excessive but I use different garments for different things!
  11. No idea how that runaround way of signing in worked, but it did! Thank you, Tsuga!
  12. A couple of the spoons that look like what I want are called basting spoons. I'd never even heard that term before! Thanks
  13. I need something for light stirring/mixing/scooping/serving but not a wooden spoon. I feel like EVERY spoon I buy (nylon, silicone, etc.) comes apart at the seam where the 2 pieces are put together. I can super glue, I guess, but I need a good, sturdy spoon that isn't too huge. (It cannot be too flexible or bendy, either!) I will buy 5 or 6 of the winner. lol
  14. How pretty!! I didn't even know Vera Wang made jewelry like that! I like her, too.
  15. Am I being too nosy to ask the designer so I can check out her work? LOL I love looking at jewelry. (But I don't think I'd ever ask the carat question unless we were really getting into details about a certain piece so that seems odd to me, but not over the top.)
  16. We will probably be buying our first home next year. I am totally paying people to clean the house after we get our crap out of it. I am SO sick of rentals and moving...I may pay someone to clean the house we move INTO as well, if needed. Zero guilt.
  17. The Book of Polly by Kathy Hepinstall The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
  18. Is there a warehouse job like FedEx or UPS within driving distance? My oldest ds (who still lives at home) worked at a grocery store for FIVE years (from 17 on) and he had enough...he ended up at FedEx and really liked it. (However, Starbucks finally called him back after he'd only been working there for 3 weeks and offered him FT and he chose that and loves that even more.) Anyway, that fits with his sleep schedule, I think, and even though it's somewhat physically demanding, my ds enjoyed the process and little things like how nice it was to finish a particular aspect of the job before his shift was over. Very satisfying even though there were always packages coming down the line, of course. Ds said he's never slept as well in his life because it just felt so good to crash afterwards! He liked the team aspect, too, without customers interrupting the work! LOL Pay was decent with regular raises and a few opportunities to make more, move up if he wants to. Just an idea!
  19. Huh. What about them? Because the areas of the world with the most growth in Christianity have been Africa and Asia in the last several years, if I remember the stats correctly. What would be a "satisfactory reply" on this to you?
  20. I read it and liked it so much that I immediately read another by the author, Britt-Marie Was Here, and loved it more! I haven't read any others, though, but I've heard mixed reviews of Bear Town which was next on my list. Enjoy!

    Eve

    1. I have a somewhat neutral view of Eve because she and Adam both represent what humans with free will do. I think positively about the fact that God says she was NEEDED and necessary. 2. The jury is still out for me on the historicity of Adam and Eve; but that doesn't affect that I believe God created the world and all of its inhabitants at some point. I think it's possible that there was a first couple that had the intellectual capacity to recognize a Creator and respond to Him in whatever way they could. I lean toward there being a historical first couple BUT the Genesis account being a story to explain much more about humanity and its relationship to God than those two specifically. Not sure. 3. Eve is the mother of humanity, the first wife (such as it was...I think of it more as partner and "strong ally" which is how the word for "helper" (ezer) is interpreted), first companion and friend, and the first human with the free will and intellectual agency to sin (go against God's directives for human flourishing--that term sort of bugs me but it works, lol). 4. Not really except to say that I believe any interpretations that conclude women are sinful in a specific way due to BEING a woman (and like Eve) are stupid and wrong. I think that there are some consequences of the Fall that apply to men and women, predicted in Scripture as how sin will play out in the world and in relationships between men and women. But I believe gender roles are given by God in accordance to *strengths* not sins, and they are meant for harmony in marriage and family life AND in the pursuit of the mission that God's children are expected to pursue. I think Eve has been used maliciously as an excuse to treat women as less intelligent, less powerful, less capable of good, etc.and that it damages the image of God we are meant to portray when we buy into that nonsense.
  22. Yeah, the overreach in this bill is ridiculous. Observe my teaching? And base the success of an entire school year of education on what, exactly? Anyone who is using the guise of homeschooling to get away with abuse would probably be able to get their act together enough for a scheduled visit to not be given another thought given the huge caseload that would probably be understaffed, so this seems completely ineffective. Yet, I want there to be something that can help in these situations. I just know THIS isn't it; I don't know what to do. :(
  23. This description is why I found the book extremely frustrating! Great explanation; I concur and haven't seen the movie yet. LOL In the book it felt like many times the author was thinking, "Oh, it would be SO cool if....XYZ happened! How can I fit that in here?!" Just too much and it took away from any message that was intended.
  24. I'd prefer a title dedicated to the philosophers rather than a book about Ancient Greece that includes them, unless it's excellent. Thanks! This is for my own personal reading. (Titles on individual philosophers--biographies, I guess--also welcome!)
