  1. I agree that she needs to see a pediatric urologist, but doesn't: LEUKO Moderate and NITRITE Positive indicate a UTI?
  2. I was wondering if there is a lawyer on here who would be willing to explain to me what something on a background (police record) check means. I would only feel comfortable sharing the information through pm. Thank you!
  3. My oldest (20 years old) has always had excema. When he was little we tried everything before a doctor suggested allergies. He is allergic to various foods, but his worst reaction is to acid foods (and he loves ketchup). His holistic doctor suggested borage oil (as a supplement), it works wonders for him. Even now if he doesn't take it for a while his excema flares up, but if he takes it he can even it ketchup with little consequence. Maybe this would help someone. I just remember feeling so helpless when he was little and nothing worked.
  4. There is an ACT test in June that she could take and you should get the scores back by the end of June, that should give you plenty of time to register for fall classes. But she can still take classes in the fall, just not a class with a writing component, right? The community college we do dual enrollment through only allows two classes per semester in the 11th grade. She could probably wait to retake the test later and still be able to take classes that don't require a passing score on the reading section (I'm thinking math and science). Just throwing out ideas :)
  5. If she retakes the test now can she not retake it later? I would have her practice for a harder test (like the pp said), perhaps the ACT. This is what I have done with my children and it has worked out well. HTH
  6. We have had a couple of harddrives quit, but were able to salvage the information by freezing the harddrive overnight. They only ran briefly, but long enough to get everything off. I'm sorry that happened to you, I know how upsetting it can be.
  7. Bumping for anyone who might be interested :)
  8. I didn't know if this has been posted, but we really enjoyed this talk. This young man is amazing :)
  9. I don't know of it is what you are looking for but at that age my science oriented boys enjoyed the Cartoon Guide to Physics and the Cartoon Guide to Chemistry. If nothing else they are good supplements. HTH
  10. The Microbiology Coloring Book is a wonderful resource. It is not just a coloring book, each picture comes with a lot of information. When I took microbiology in college I found it incredibly helpful.
  11. Can you buy gift certificates? I think that wold be ideal, since you don't know what you will need in the future. Just a thought.
  12. It was an accident. By letting it go he learns how to extend grace to others. He feels badly and, I am sure, will be more careful next time.
  13. My oldest two are 13 months apart, when they were 2.5 and 3.5 I had twins. Then when they were 2.5 I had my youngest. Having newborn twins was by far the hardest, once they were around 6 months it got easier. My oldest is now 18 and I wish I could go back and do it all over again- I love babies :001_smile:
  14. in my area? I am trying to find a homeschool group that offers Science Olympiads or something similar for the middle school and high school grades. I have searched online and can't find anything in my area. Starting a group with other families would be fine if I could find others that would be interested. I am in Jacksonville, FL. Thank you, Rene
  15. Hulu doesn't stream any shows from CBS, you have to watch from the CBS website- you can go there and check- I know they have Big Bang Theory- that is the only one on the list I watch :)
  16. The University of Florida has a great Pharm program and they have different campuses around the state- great if you don't want to move too far. I was going to school for a while with a few people who were going to go to the Jacksonville campus- a lot of the classes are online and then they have the proctored exams. Might be worth checking out.
  17. outtamyshell, I understand what you are saying- I don't think we would want to do online math courses- it just seems like it would be a lot harder. I also plan on getting their textbooks as soon as the teachers post what they are using so that we can go over some of it before they start the class. The college they will be attending uses the Thinkwell for the online PreCalc and so I feel pretty conifdent that they have covered everything they need to know to do well in Calc (doesn't mean I'm not still nervous for them lol :) ). We will have to think about going down and meeting the teachers- they have their emails listed on their staff website so I may just email them instead. Something to think about. Thank you! Rene
  18. Cedarmom, That is what we were thinking also. Now we just need to figure out how many classes and which ones to take for their first semester. Thank you! Rene
  19. Wow, that was so helpful! Thank you! I really wish we had started dual enrollment sooner- but now I know for my next 3 :) You have given us a lot to think about and discuss this weekend. It is nice to find people who have been there to offer advice- hopefully I will be able to help others out in a few years :001_smile: Have a great Thanksgiving! Rene
  20. Thank you so much for your help. You have given us a lot to think about. It will be their first semester of dual enrollment and we are trying to figure out how many classes and which classes would be good to start with. They maxed out the CPT- which is one of the reasons I don't think they need the PreCalc, but I don't want to overwhelm them. I hope you don't mind if I ask a few more questions. How many classes is your ds taking? Did he start off with just 1 or 2 classes? Did he adjust to the classes easily or did he have a hard time at first? Thank you again! Rene
  21. I was hoping someone could help us out. My oldest 2 went down and took the college placement test for dual enrollment and tested into Calculus. They thought they might want to start with PreCalc instead- but that would mean waiting an extra semester to take Physics with Calculus (so instead of taking that in the summer, they would take it in the fall). My question is- how reliable is the CPT- if they tested into Calculus should they be able to handle it? They are finishing up Precalc with Trig next month (we don't go by the standard school schedule and this is just how it worked out) using Thinkwell/ Foerster Precalc with Trig. I would hate for them to take PreCalc if they can handle Calc (which is what we are leaning towards), but if anyone has any BTDT advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rene
  22. You can search for snowball debt calculators and plug in the numbers to see how long it would take to pay everything off depending on what you payoff now. Here is a pretty good one http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx HTH Rene
  23. Our last vehicle was a 1994 Suburban- it was used and pretty beat up when we got it- but we kept it until 2 years ago at 250,000 miles and never had any major problems- we had to replace the radiator once and the fuel pump once. Two years ago we got our used 2003 Yukon. The gas mileage is much better than the suburban (the main reason we went with the Yukon instead of the Suburban this time). I love this vehicle! Everyone fits comfortably and I have not had any problems at all. HTH
