  1. Thanks Medstudent and Elise! Just wondering about the physical fitness aspect of this program and what component that plays in the training. My daughter is very petite and not strong at all. I saw the videos online about hand-to-hand combat training and there wasn't much mentioned anywhere else on the site about this aspect. Just curious...
  2. Any opinions/experience with Uniformed Services University of Health Science medical school?
  3. My 16 yo has also been doing cc for hs, and I graduated him early this month so he is not restricted to the unit limit for hs students. He is pre-engineering we were planning on junior transfer after finishing all math/science for a Cal poly junior engineering transfer, but will be missing Calc III, diff equa. and lin alg if we apply this year. I'm thinking to just apply and see what happens. The budget situation here can only get worse, and I'm thinking to try and get him through before they close admission to CA students entirely! Just kidding, but things are bad here and it is so annoying that CA residents are now at a disadvantage compared with full tuition out-of-state applicants.
  4. Daughter is considering relocating to CT and I'm wondering about if people on this list have any opinion about the rigor of U Conn for pre-med science prep and whether the satellite campuses courses are comparable or seen as less rigous as the main campus (Storrs)? Thanks so much! Belinda
  5. California Community college- no distinction on the transcript, for dual enrollment or online format. Belinda
  6. USC has a good composition program. He'd need to check out scholarship opps as the tuition is out-of-this world!
  7. Any opinions/experience with University of Uniformed Services Health Science medical school?
  8. He also advises against taking the easy way out, such as taking hard science classes at a different university or a comm. college because they're easier there. The medical schools see through this and it will be a big mark against you. How can you figure out how these schools compare? The med schools may know, but how can we compare the rigor of different community college, state, and university science courses (pre-med reqs)? Just found ourselves suddenly on the pre-med route with our conservatory of music school new grad. We're checking our post-bacc. $$$ and others. Love some sage advice. Belinda
  9. Oh, and Thinkwell Chem and Physics is a good additional resource if you need help on certain topics. Having a additional textbook as a resource is helpful with these courses because the material will be presented in a slightly different way which may appeal more to your learning style.
  10. The classes you mentioned are intro classes. Physics for Life Sciences is not math intensive, but you will need more math. The chemistry class should be fine to start. General chem and organic are more intensive. Be careful about overloading unit when you are focusing on sciences classes. You want to do well in these and get a good foundation. Best of luck to you! Belinda
  11. Wow. Thanks for the posts and good advice. I've got a daughter moving back in and am going clarify our expectations regarding letting us know where she is going, when she'll be back and if she'll be eating with us. I do thinnk this is a matter of common courtesy, though not so apparently 'common' to dd. Belinda
  12. Mine are all "home" but not seeing much of them. My dd has graduated with a music degree moved back home so we are trying to accommodate all her belongings and doing a major de-clutter throughout the house and clearing our so many homeschool books. My ds is doing an internship locally and I have not seen him for days, and my other ds is busy with trying to register for summer classes at the community college. I thought I'd see more of them :-( Belinda
  13. Yes! Could you ask the othotics people to just give him a call saying it was a follow-up service appointment to check out the fit? Belinda
  14. I did it too for my Masters in Occupational Therapy, but cannot say that I enjoyed the process and was very very happy to be done with it all. It is doable, especially when you see it is of a limited time. Good Luck! Belinda
