Jill seems meek. I do feel awful for her, she is certainly a victim. Her comment about brain washing at public schools made me roll my eyes after what she went through. As someone who was raised kind of Catholic, has only attended a UU church (not Christian) sporadically as an adult, and has only homeschooled in secular circles, it is interesting and alarming.
The Exec Prod answered a question about this in her AMA on Reddit:

This one from Smitten Kitchen. I usually add tomatoes and sometimes corn and/or black beans.

Is there a way to click ONE link a day to get both the Bible reading and podcast or are they separate?
Not as far as I know. I used the youversion app for the reading & my podcast app for the podcast.

I did it last year & enjoyed it. I listened to the passage of the day & then the podcast first thing in the morning. I printed out the list of additional resources and used those as needed. I did get the book as well, but I mostly bought it because the podcase itself is free and I wanted to be supportive. It was not necessary at all.

Initially we all saw the same family doctor which was great except for vaccines. We had to go to the Dept of Health for those. Then our doc moved away, so we switched the kids to a ped. That practice's rule was that they would treat patients up to the age of 19, so both kids switched to a family practice at around 18 or so.

Curious why you say that. (I understand it is pretty easy to figure out where we are based on my description, more wondering why it would lead you to think we should stay).
Because you are so in the middle of everything. Easy walking/biking distance to a fabulous library, great restaurants, great shops, lots of events, and then easy biking access to so many other things since you're on the trail system. Having to drive places after having all that would not be fun. Being 5 minutes from church would also be something I just wouldn't want to give up. We've never been that close & I wish we were. And if the people who go to that church are mostly that close as well then I think it would be super hard to suddenly be much further away. Plus, there's no way your house won't continue to appreciate, so it's not like you have to move now or you'll lose out on a high sale value.

Based on your description I can pretty much figure out where you live and there is NO WAY I would move.

I've only visited LA with a car, so no advice there, but if you're flying into Burbank you should eat at Porto's!

I almost answered "no" without asking the kids because I never showed it to them. I asked and they did see it though.

This is my go to recipe, but it uses cream cheese and heavy cream instead of sour cream. Super easy and you can adjust for spice depending on type of rotel, additional peppers, etc.

So, I received one of these for a Christmas gift from my work - everybody got one, and I have zero use for it. I am happy to re-gift it to you if you'd like to try it. I will be working when the post office is open next week, but can ship it out on the 5th of January.
Aw, thank you! That is very kind! I'm going to try a regular insulated mug though--I'm sure someone else would be glad to get the Ember!

Can you just get a really nice double-walled coffee mug, travel version or not depending on your preference? Dh has one and if he forgets to take off the lid when he gets to work it will still burn his tongue two hours later (sympathetic wince). No app needed!
Do you know what brand he has?

Thank you! I'm leaning towards getting one of those and a decent travel mug. The Ember mug draw was that I could carry it around and the temp would remain stable, but the more reviews I read, the more I'm afraid that it'll be finicky and that it'll break in a year or less.

Thanks you all!! I had talked myself into really wanting one--especially after I saw the Costco deal, but it sounds like it's not really worth it. Sigh.

I was getting ready to order an Ember mug and then I looked at reviews for the app on both Apple and Android. Apple has 2.5 stars and android 1.7. I mean, to be fair, there are only 1K reviews on Apple & 3K reviews on Android (100K downloads), but if the app is as terrible as the reviews say then I don't know that I want to spend that much on a coffee cup. If you have an Ember mug, is it easy to use? Will I be able to program the temperature and then pretty much ignore the app from then on or is it something you have to fiddle with frequently?

These are the ones dh gave me for Mother's Day. I've been pleased with them.

L'Oreal Double Extend Tubing Mascara is available at Target if you don't want to have to order online. It washes off easily and it's not very expensive. I also really like Maybelline's Sky High Mascara. I buy waterproof and it comes off very well using an oil based cleanser. I don't have to tug on my lashes at all. Plus it comes in brown which I greatly appreciate!

I made this Southwest Summer Salad the other day and it was SO good. Much to my surprise it has also kept well in the fridge for a few days.

Every year I buy an expensive pair of slippers and every year they're totally trashed by the end of winter. Last year I bought these and they're still growing strong this year. I did get them less expensively from DSW, but I can't find them on their website any more. 😞

Horse bedding pellets from Tractor Supply.
No smell. Very inexpensive. No chemicals.
The wet turns into a powder-- the solids dry out and are easily scooped.
DD moved back in last year with her 2 cats. With this litter you really cannot tell that we have THREE litter boxes in the house!
Yes! If your cat will use this it's great. If there's any smell at all, it's pleasant and piney and the stuff is CHEAP.

I ended up getting a pair of Vionics (Kirra), and they have been amazing! I also use a pair of Teva Verra Sport Sandals for exercising, and my feet feel *so* much better. I'm not nearly as hobbled in the morning as I used to be. Thank you for the advice!

I'm not sure whether they still sell this at Costco--it was a demo special and I haven't seen it in a long time. What I have is the foot one on this page: https://www.medmassager.com/our-massagers/
I would put my bare heel on the top of the slope of it and crank it up. It would vibrate pretty hard. I actually had partial numbness from it. But somehow it jumpstarted my recovery from 15 months of intractible PF.
They do have it on the website. Thank you!!

@Carol in Cal. Which massager did you use? I looked at the Costco website, and there are several.

@prairiewindmommaThanks! We have a Famous Footwear nearby, so I'll try them first!

Mine is arriving today. I was going to just get it from the library but then I saw the excerpts in People and felt like I needed to support her willingness to be transparent.
