  1. there are many pros and cons about online classes. One great pro is that there are some excellent schools out there now. the classes offer great interaction and feedback from peers. If you choose wisely, the teachers can be excellent. I have used VP scholars and am not using The Potters School. It can be expensive if you do the live classroom but i consider it worth it. we have been doing online for about 5 years and it has worked really well. we have only used private online. I have never been impressed with the state virtual schools. hope that helps
  2. i have used both and i like saxson though i have there are some gaps when it comes to algebra i have used the best algebra i have used is Jacobs...it is an excellent book.
  3. teaching accelerated kids can be exhausting. i teach 3 and some days wonder where i am...lol...it is however very rewarding. I am pleased to see my 16 year old be accepted into college early and know that we kept her challenged and happy..chin up
  4. I have 3 kids and have done this for 15 years...my oldest, 16 is in college....i think we often underestimate what our kids can do. chin up...you know your kids and their ability...I am so glad i did not listen to that kind of talk when i first got started,.
  5. the institute for excellence in writing has a very simple structure for you to use. it gives a good format to follow to structure well written 5 or more paragraph essays. in addition, it give suggestions on how to vary the sentences and sentence openers. when you fist look at it, it may seem confusing, but a quick read through and you will see it is not hard. I have used it for 3 kids and they are all excellent writers.
  6. have used vp for several years but not in the diploma enrollment. do not think there is a real benefit unless you need the structure. My oldest just was accepted into early enrollment in college at 16. a good psat, cpt, or sat is usually enough for most colleges. home schooling is not as rare as it used to be and most colleges will accept home school transcripts that you do yourself. i know mine did.
  7. my sister in law does a split enrollment through a hybrid christian school. it seems to work very well for her. just a thought
