  1. If you want it planned for you, well, at least organized, I would use Before five in a row.
  2. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is PG ? I've seen it a lot in this thread. Couldn't find it in the abbreviation sticky. Thanks, Julie
  3. Your son is making great connections by saying the duck and boat go together. Please praise him for his clever thinking (maybe you already are) because he is seeing things a different way and you don't want him to lose that ability to think beyond or outside the lines. However, remind him that you are looking for words that sound the same and that boat and duck don't. Read a lot of rhyming books like Cat in the Hat and other Dr. Seuss books, especially the nonsensical ones. Rhyming can be hard, especially at a young age. I say a lot of rhyming things for fun when I talk to my kids and then ask if they noticed anything special about my sentences. (I wore a hat to bed. I wore it upon my head). There are a lot of printables for rhyme I think at prekinders.com. Playing those games helped my daughter.
  4. DD4 plays about twice a week, but when we had the trial she played everyday. I wanted to make sure it was worth paying for and the only way to know was to let her be on the computer. I am not normally comfortable with so much computer time. It is great, but can be frustrating when she get to something that really challenges her. When that happens, I try to replicate the game or skill with hands on manipulatives and that usually helps her the next time she gets to play.
  5. Have you looked at Karen Tyler's online "training?" Her albums are good and she's available for questions via emails. It ends up being a very good price for all those albums, especially if you pay upfront. (You get all the albums right away if you pay the whole course off at the beginning). 6. We use Montessori math and my daughter has advanced to elementary level math and I am using a mix of the free albums here http://mondorfment.blogspot.com/2010/02/6-9-elementary-montessori-albums.html and here http://www.moteaco.com/albums.html, but honestly it is so much work that I am just switching to Rightstart C. With a two year old in tow, I need it all laid out for me with a script. :-P Julie http://theadventuresofbear.blogspot.com ds 4: AAS2, readers from library using SL lists, Montessori math (and Miquon and SM), eclectic science and history ds 2 FIAR and B4FIAR
  7. I love RS for the mental math too. We were using Singapore, but daughter did NOT like it. It made her despise math. Go with what works for your children and the program that lets them enjoy math. Seems like that would be RS for one and the current program for the other.
  8. Sometimes Homeschool Buyers Coop has it for cheaper. I got ours for $20 two (or maybe three) months ago. I don't know of coupon codes.
  9. We love AAS and there is a blog that has the tiles already done for you to print. Wish she had those ready before I purchased mine. It's either Spell Outloud or Homeschool Creations (the blog with the tiles) just google the name and the links will come up.
