My last child will be entering 9th grade in the fall. I have used Notgrass with my older children and they did great with it. However, I'm wanting to explore MOH because I've heard so many wonderful things about it. I know some feel it isn't high school worthy, but I've been told that there are options in the books for older students and things can be added to make it worth high school credits. Any pros or cons you can see with this plan? I had also thought about trying to combine them or would that be too difficult? Please help me sort this out. I have been agonizing over this for the better part of a year, just because I want this last four years with my last one to be great. I kind of want to pick something and stick with it for the entire time. Thanks!

Need help deciding what to do for my 9th grader this year. I am torn between doing MOH as is because it has the mapping and notebooking and extra literature. But so does Biblioplan. I have heard that Biblioplan uses MOH but skips around with it. Does it actually use the entire book or just bits and pieces? I also like the emphasis on church history and missionary biographies that Biblioplan has. I just don't know what to do.I have looked at Biblioplans 3-week samples and liked what I saw. However I thought the Companion looked like it was written in more of a piecemeal fashion with factual information unlike MOH which is written in more of a story format, which I like. I have pros and cons for both options. Any help out there from those of you who have used either of these options? thanks :)

Have pretty much decided to use Biblioplan for High School. My daughter will be an eight-grader next year. I really wanted to use All American History for her but since it is in two volumes (two years) I wouldn't have time to finish it before high school. I am thinking about just jumping in next year with Biblioplan Ancients and using AAH as a spine for Biblioplan in the last two years. I know people use this for high school and it wouldn't be the only spine I would use. Would AAH be an easy choice to plug into Biblioplan?

For those of you who are happy with Biblioplan, could you tell me what sold you on it and your experiences with it. I am looking on starting with Ancients with a 9th grader. Thanks in advance. :001_smile:

I know that Mystery of History is a spine of Biblioplan but I was wondering what the advantages of using Biblioplan and all of their add-ons as opposed to using Mystery of History as written. I know there are quite a few Biblioplan threads on here lately, so anyone that has experience with it, please give me your input. Thanks :001_smile:

Was wondering how easy it would be to incorporate Notgrass World and American history into Biblioplan. I know MFW uses Notgrass World, but wondered if anyone would think it would be a good fit with Biblioplan. Thanks!

Hi all, My 11th grade daughter is really struggling in school. At this point we are trying to take her as far as we can in the next year and a half. She loves history and will do that every day, but really struggles in math and just keeping on track in general. I have homeschooled her all her life and I am really feeling like the little chunks of this subject and that subject every day causes her to lose focus. She really seems to do better when she is totally focused on one thing. I was thinking about maybe doing one or two subjects for a week and then switching to something else for a week just to keep her focused. I know there are some drawbacks to doing this. . . retention of information, for example. But I'm at my wits end and willing to do whatever works. Has anyone done this? What were your reasons and did you feel it accomplished your goals? thanks

I am needing something for my dd who is a junior in high school. She has struggled in writing, so I need something that is concise, to the point, and can be accomplished in a limited time frame. Would Writing Strands be good for that? Anyone have experience with this curriculum pro or con? Thanks

Taking an essay that is already written, and sentence by sentence picking out the key words and then rewriting it in your own words using the key words you've chosen without looking at the original.

Just wondering if someone could clear this up for me. I know some writing programs us key-word outlines to teach writing. I'm trying to figure out what the purpose is in doing this. Is it to teach the kids to take notes, to put things in their own words or what? My daughter really struggles with this and I was wondering if it is even necessary? Thanks

My dd is a junior in high school and is STRUGGLING in composition. It is a major frustration for her and she really balks at it. She can write a decent paragraph, but has never written a research paper or any higher level writing. Any step-by-step writing programs anyone could recommend?

encouragement? I am thinking about starting this with my 7th grade daughter. I was planning on doing a unit study with her, but with my work schedule, I feel that I wouldn't do it justice. I like the looks of Truthquest and feel that maybe she could work independently with some input from me, but I'm scared to take the plunge. (I have bought ALOT of curriculum in my 21 years of homeschooling! ;) Anyway, is it easy for you to implement? Does your daughter like it? What are the pros and cons in your experience with it?
