  1. I am new to the Quote thing and just did it wrong. :tongue_smilie: If I am to select a portion of someone's quote, how do you do it without losing the shaded quote? I did it right the first time but I left the entire quote. Thanks!
  2. Yes, very well said, Barbara, and very helpful. Thank you! :iagree:And I am relieved to hear about the SAT/ACT grade listed. Thank you all, ladies. You have been very helpful. We will consider all this. Any additional thoughts are still appreciated!
  3. Oh, thank you all! Important things I did not consider and that is why I am here! :001_smile: I need to know all the ramifications of each. We were learning towards a 5th year in HS but unfortunately, she did take the PSAT and took her first SAT and ACT just recently. I didn't think about that. Sniff, sniff. Is there a way to change that or are we stuck in the grade listed??? Please help!! PS- Her piano teacher said she will be ready musically to audition in 6 months and get in to a top music conservatory. Given another year, she would improve even more and possibly help her get bigger scholarships, etc. However, we are worried about the liberal world she would be thrown into so early. We are conservative Christians and want to protect her soul and morals, as does she.
  4. 5th year of high school or a gap year? Dd will be a senior this coming school year but will be 17 when she graduates. (She will turn 18 at the end of that August) As a music performance major, the music conservatories are all far, far away on the east coast (we are on the west coast). At this point, on many levels, we just don't feel she is ready to leave home in one year. (Nor do we want her to!!! So our dilemma is whether to graduate her on "schedule" and give her a gap year, give her a 5th year of high school...or graduate her on "schedule" and she goes off to conservatory right away. In either case, she could use the extra year to gain more life skills, learn to be more self-sufficient in this world, continue private lessons, practicing and some CC classes. Can anyone pls give thoughts, especially on 5th year vs gap year differences? TIA!
  5. Anyone have feedback on the online classes offered through MUS? Are they helpful and worth the $$$? Anyone take a MUS online class elsewhere? Any feedback Any feedback appreciated! TIA! :001_smile:
  6. Thanks. I was looking for feedback on the algebra and geometry online classes but, yes, I think I'll post on the K-8 also. Thanks again!

  8. I have alot of supplements I need to take. Without the little pill bags I got from Amazon, I wouldn't be able to manage it all. Check the box or label the bags for whatever time of the day certain pills need to be taken. For instance, mine are AM (breakfast), Lunch, PM (dinner), and bedtime. Then, I'd put one of each of those 4 bags I need each day into a zip snack bag (smaller than a sandwich bag). I'd label the tops of the bags Monday, Tuesdday, and so on...and put them in order in a little basket. Then you know if pills have been taken or not. HTH!
  9. Michelle, sorry I wasn't specific. I meant does CLE use different terms and definitions that may confuse a R&S user of many years? Also, does each CLE level start a review of all previous concepts, giving definitions, etc. like R&S does? I know they work in questions to answer for previous concepts but does it give an explanatory review like R&S? KWIM? Thanks!
  10. Thank you both. I've looked at AG in the past. Just not sure about the switch at this point. Also considered using the SAT prep (just got the book) for grammar for DD15. I think I'm leaning towards trying CLE LA 800 for her but will look at the SAT prep book as well. CLE is sending the last book of the LA 600 , which is review of 600, to see how DD13 does. My x-post got a reply from Michelle that she switched to CLE LA 7 after R&S E 3-6 and it went well. :001_smile:
  11. Thanks everyone! That helps. (I couldn't get on the forum yesterday for some reason. :tongue_smilie: Glad to find your feedback.) I called CLE yesterday and they are sending me the last book of LA 600 (review of 600) as a sample and to see if she'd be ready for 700. I am thinking we will move her into the CLE as R&S just isn't getting done anymore and she needs more spiral review. I will probably just get the 800 for DD15 to go through for review vs going through R&S 8 again. Michelle, did you find any issues with conflicting/confusing terms, definitions? Thanks all!
  12. Yes, I did a search but didn't come up with much. I will keep looking. Thank you!
  13. I've been considering switching from R&S English to CLE language. How do the two correspond in terms of levels? IS CLE 700 comparable to R&S 7, etc? What about definitions and terms? I've been hesitating switching because we've used R&S English all these years and I am worried that CLE will use different terms or definitions that would confuse her. Has anyone who switched had a problem with this?? DD13 stopped in the middle of R&S English 7 last year while is 7th grade. She didn't do much grammar this year as I need something more independant for her. She has forgotten much already and needs to go back. She is doing the CLE reading and has used the math so she likes CLE. DD15 went through R&S 8 but hasn't done much grammar since then, aside from a little EG Ultimate. I am considering having her go through CLE 700 or 800 to review...but again...I am worried about the use of different terms, etc. Any thoughts be would greatly appeciated!!!! TIA!!!!
  14. I could use some advice for continuing grammar with our DD's: DD15: She used Rod and Staff through the 8th grade book, finishing it in 8th grade. Last year (9th gr), she did some of Easy Grammar Ultimate in 9th but didn't finish it. Didn't do any grammar this year (10th gr). She needs some review (retention is not great) and I'm not sure what to use to do that, aside from going through R&S 8 again. Want to review before SAT's, for sure. DD13: She used Rod and Staff up through the first half of the grade 7 book in 7th grade and this year (8th grade) intended to do the second half but it was hard to start in the middle without the review offered in the beginning of each book. I wanted her to also get through the 8th grade book but her retention is worse than DD15. It is harder for her. Does anyone have any advice? They need built-in review and reinforcement to retain but hopefully something that doesn't take a lot of time. We are always behind!:tongue_smilie: How much grammar does one really need? ( Hubby and I never learned all the stuff they've learned in R &S!) Their grammar in their sentence structure and speech is not a problem. So far, I've considered CLE and Easy Grammar Plus. Sorry so long!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!!
