  1. So we are going to attempt to learn Piano this next year for my 8 year old. I took piano as a child and have some of my old books. I think I can get her some of the basics but I see LOTS of "teach it yourself" products out there and I wanted to see if there were any favorites from the Hive. What have you used and how did it work out? Thanks TJ
  2. We are using WTM for the first time this year and have a K and 1st grader. Im trying to get familiar with the books and in looking at this one I think I may have to make some adjustments. Wanted to see if anyone had some ideas for me. DD 1st grader has just finished AOP Kinder LA program. She is reading on a 2-3 grade level however she is a HUGE GUESSER. Meaning she has a talent :001_smile: for guessing what the words are rather than truly having read them. I really want her to grasp the rule set's and know that the last portion of this book would be right on target for her. But im not sure where to jump her in. Im thinking the end of section 4 beginning section 5 (consonant digraphs). Does any one with more experience have any input on that? DS-K is just itching to read. I think he will fly through the beginning lessons. Because of this I'm wondering if I should let DD do other reading things until DS catches up with where she will be and then let them work it together. Any thoughts on that? Thanks so much TJ
  3. Born and raised a Texas girl sweet tea is my favorite! Not just any ol sweet tea will do. The best is when the tea is still hot from being brewed and then LOTS of real sugar is added so that it melts right in. Most everywhere serves both sweet and un-sweet. I have experienced the larger chain resturants either only serve un-sweetned and give you sugar packats, or ask you to clairify sweet or non. If you don't promptly announce what type you would like they ask. There are some smaller "home town" places that only serve sweet tea. They can probably get away with that where the larger chains can not. Oh and BIG OL CUPS are a must! Gotta have enough to wash down the vittles!
  4. So we have a debate going on at my house. DH is a fan of shows like "The Office" and things of that sort and I am not at all. When we have discussions about it, he brings up the fact that I enjoy watching lovie dovie movies like "The Notebook". The debate is where to draw the line on acceptable Christian values in media. If crude humor is not good for the soul then couldn't the same be said for a intimate love scene even if it's just one? Both types of media are allowing us to delight in a behavior that is not promoting God's values or love. Can you give me some ideas on how your family decides what makes it to the TV screen or what gets chunked out? Thanks for your input. TJ
  5. Thanks, I am just so worried I wont be able to get what we need unless im glued to the screen. Yes, I have gone to a few local book sales and did find some of what we needed. There are just a few more on our list. I think im seeing a pattern that more books are available in march/april than at the end of may. My thoughts are that is the best time to get it all lined out for the next year and the books are more abundant. Thanks for your feed back. TJ
  6. Next year will be our first with WTM method and I have been glued to these boards for info and used books. This has taken my focus away from the school table many times. Even though im just 3 feet away I have found it hard to keep the focus going in the room while trying to snag book deals. Any tips on how to manage both. Keep the kids moving along in their lessons and still be a hawk eye to catch the sales? Thanks so much TJ
  7. Worship to me means every aspect of my life focused on serving him. In each and every part of my day in and day out life that others around me would see his love reflected from my being.
  8. I would like to jump on this wagon also :~) my tribe has recently tried and found they love this stuff. it's a little out of my price range so home made is up my ally!
  9. This is AMAZING!! Im 2 years late but lot's of these sites are still active and I am absolutly going to use them. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this.
