  1. Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestions! We will be heading to Pennsylvania at the end of the week for a couple of days, and we will certainly check out the Mechanicsburg area and Meridian Shores West. Will let you know what we think when we return. I truly appreciate your help!
  2. We will be commuting to Carlisle, PA 5-6 days a week. Where in Carlisle, or outlying areas, might be good places to raise a small family. We homeschool an 8 and 12 year old. We will be there for a year or so, so looking for either rental home, town home, or apartment. Preferably a safe neighborhood, low crime, access to parks, libraries, etc. Connecting with other homeschool families would be a plus! Thank you in advance for your suggestions!
  3. Hi Ali, Since my child does not care for math, I actually tried one of the LoF books a while back hoping that it would make math more "fun" for her. She didn't care for it. She told me, "Mom, math is a serious subject. This is not." That's my DD. In the meantime, I will have to look into Horizons. I've heard great things about that program. Thanks for your help!
  4. I like the looks of Russian Math 6! I never heard of it before. I think this will be a great addition to our current curriculum. I guess if I really think about it some more, DD seems to have a good grasp of what she is currently learning. She's happy and all, but adding the chapter tests might not be a bad idea either. I forgot about those! DD is only 9. We just started the SM 6A in July, and she is already half way through the book. Can she really be a whiz at math? I'm not sure. The funny thing is that math is her least favorite subject.... all she wants to do is to get her school work done so she can go to her ballet classes! Thank you for your suggestions!
  5. We already include the IP exercises and CWPs. We are moving quickly through the lessons and she is doing pretty well. I'd like to slow it down a little bit and make sure she is really retaining everything that she is learning. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might add to SM so that she really has a thorough understanding of all this math? Thank you!
  6. My daughter suffered from SM, and I took her out of ps when she was 6. I have been home schooling her since then, and it has been one of the best decisions our family has ever made. I never, ever thought I would have the patience to stay home and teach my child. My daughter is now 11, and doing wonderfully. She is active in the community, involved in extra-curricular activities and has many close friends. She will never be the loudest one in the group; however, she is not afraid to initiate conversations or speak her mind. Have your friend PM me if she'd like to discuss further.
  7. Hi there, I am curious about this Online School, particularly for my Middle Schooler. Is anyone familiar with this program? Thank you!
  8. I am also curious about this program, particularly for Middle Schoolers. Anyone familiar with this? Thanks!
