Would doing these together be too much writing in one year?

I need some help!!! What do you include in high school English. I know literature is included. But when you say literature is that reading a book and maybe doing a literature guide with it or is it more in depth? I thought about using Essentials in Writing but I'm afraid if I do that and something like Windows to the World it would be too much.

Nobody has done this course???

Has anyone used this? If so do you need to have done other IEW courses? My dd is interested in Journalism and this looked like a good course Wendy

Has anyone used this for high school....if so, what readers do you add to this...or do you have your child read the books by themselves?

My daughters would love this...what credit would you give for high school...a fine art credit?

If we haven't done any of IEW writing curriculum and would like to use this for 9th grade; do you think it is doable?

I have a daughter with dyscalculia and I'm at a loss with what marh curriculum to use. Does anyone have any suggestion???

My dd12 is having issues with math. She has for some time now but I thought it was just carelessness. But then someone mention dyscalculia to me and now I believe that is what she has. For example I don't know how many times I have told her not to add denominators and she continues to do this. She knows the answer when ask orally but then when she writes it down she doesn't get it right. I need to know where to go from here. She needs to be tested and I need to know some techniques to help her. Can anyone help?? Wendy

JWe do all the lesson practice, none of the mental stuff and only the odd or even problems in the lesson practice. ~Wendy~

We do Math 5 days. It takes her about an hour. She does all the lesson practice and then odd or even on the mixed practice.

I;m doing State History from a Christian Perspective-TN this year. We didn't start until January and I have a feeling the pace we are going we won't be finished until the end of next year. We do it about 3 days a week.

It must be a 5th grade thing because that's when my daughter started having issues. I just repeated her Saxon 6/5 math book all over again. Yes, from the beginning. She is now in the 7/6 book and she is in 6th grade. We didn't start it until around Christmas. That was the best decision I ever made. She is doing so much better. No more crying and being frustrated over math.

:bigear: I was wondering what it was all about myself. I have a daughter who went from Saxon 2 to Saxon 3. I didn't know if I should go to Saxon 5/4 or intermediate 3?

Has anyone ever done SL core E and added in WP? If so which books did you use?

I've been having issues to. I even tried to go from the actually SL website and it wouldn't let me...wonder what happened

I don't know if I would do them because of anything but pure neccessity. That is what we did. Our oldes had them put on at 9 because of a tooth that had not come in yet was turned sideways. it was actually laying on the tooth's root beside of it; in turn killing the tooth. We decided to go ahead and fix it. We used the Damien system which is less painful than traditional braces. Within a year the tooth that had not come in yet had turned and now is ready to come in without killing any other teeth.

okay so for some reason I thought I was all alone on this but apparently not. I am having problems with my sixth grader in math and I ask him to look at some of her work to help me figure out if it was my teaching or her carelessness or if the curriculum just isn't working and yes he looked at it but he wasn't very interested in coming up with a solutions with me. And he said that we have changed curriculums too much which is not true at all. We started using Saxon two years ago. I used everything Abeka until two years ago when I figured I couldn't do three girls with Abeka. So I switched things around. I've stuck with those changes for two years. So I've only switched curriculums once. Anyhow that's enough about that. Thank you ladies for being supportive and caring and for all the knowledge that you guys give!!!!!:)

I think that I lean on my husband for support and value his input as I'm sure most wives do. Maybe I just like to have him put his two cents in. Yeah I think he has confidence in my homeschooling. I just like anothers point of view when things aren't going so great. Maybe the lack if interest on his part is what doesn't sit with me very well.

I was just wondering if anyone else has this same issue. My husband has no clue about what I teach the girls, how I teach the girls, or what homeschooling is all about. Honestly I don't think he wants to know. I was asking his opinion about our daughter who is struggling with math and he was just clueless about the issues even after me explaining. I feel like a single homeschooling mom. I know he trust me teaching the girls but he acts like he has no interest in their schooling!!!! Anyone else make all the decisions when it comes to the schooling?

Itdoes depend on the subjects. For math there is a textbook. But for most of our subjects narration is the key. For history they have to write down facts or sentences about what they heard me read.

I think it is cruel to pierce a babies ears. I saw a newborn get her ears pierced at the mall one time and even hours later that poor baby was still crying. I don't like sleeping in earrings because I think it hurts and I'm sure it hurts a babies ears. Sorry to all you moms who pierced your babies ears but someone ask and I gave my opinion . My girls got their ears pierced when they ask!!!
