Help me plan Disney meals...please
Seeker of Schole replied to Changed's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Just a question - are you SURE you won't get tired of counter service, only having three meals? On the plus side, then you don't have to worry about the littles sitting for meals... I would maybe consider changing Garden Grille to lunch if only to do that meal while you are over in that area. It can be quite a trek from World Showcase over to the Land pavillion. It also would make for an easy exit after lunch if you have decided to take afternoon breaks. For counter at Epcot, I would figure on Sunshine Seasons or the CS in France, as they offer good food and nice alternatives to the burgers found at a lot of other places. Also, if you haven't looked at it yet, www.allears.net is a good site to look at the menus for all the restaraunts. -

Keep in mind the dining plan is one credit per night stayed. If you stay five nights, that's five meals, and I'm countin six meals on the above plan. No, you cannot convert a table service credit to a quick service place. -

Ohanas and Park Fare will be the same level of difficulty to get to. Personally, if I was going to do one of those, I would do a bus to MK and then boat to the resort (Polynesian or Grand Floridian). I would not do the monorail, as if it breaks down or stops to add another train or any number of other things you could easily end up being late. As for EMH, they are not really considered a bonus anymore. They much busier than they used to be. If you really want to do EMH, with the age of little ones you have, I would only consider the morning times and be there before they open. But I don't schedule them anymore, as they do not provide enough of a benefit (in my opinion). -

Please tell me they're not staying with you. If they aren't then just limite your available time on Monday (and yes, I know that's easier said than done). If they are, maybe it's time to get a hotel? Somehow suggest how the "perfect" child would love to swim and there's a hotel that has a pool and see if they hop on it as their idea? Then only go over Monday for one or two hours, and stay in the pool area. Otherwise, spend lots of time with the kids in your room reading? I feel for you. I've been known to lock myself and my youngest into my room to get some peace. -

If I were to plan it, I would do as follows: Sat - arrive, Whispering Canyon for dinner Sun - Magic Kingdom, Crystal Palace for dinner Mon - Epcot, either Le Celier for lunch or Via Napoli whenever Tues - Magic Kingdom, just counter service today Wed - Hollywood Studios, 50s Prime Time Thurs - Animal Kingdom, last breakfast at Tusker House (character meal) I am a big believer in being at rope drop (so be there before it opens) and in afternoon breaks for all. At Studios send one person straight to Toy Story Midway Mania to get FastPasses for everyone. Given the ages, I would also consider having one adult take the two youngest back to the hotel one evening, while the other adult takes the 13-year-old to the Halloween Party. In case you can't tell, I am a huge Disney planner. It pays off. We have gone a lot, and never waited more than 15 minutes for an attraction / ride. That includes at the crazy Christmas busiest time of year week. So I totally understand your need to plan. -

Do you only want dining advice, as I can get really carried away. For example, the only day I would keep the park plan is your Animal Kingdom day, otherwise I would change all the others up due to the attendance patterns. But, this is not my vacation, so I'll try to stop now (unless you want lots of unsolicited advice, then I'll have at it). -

Oh yes, while Pop has good bus service (my favorite of the value resorts), it takes time to get places. For example, to get to Ohana you will need to take a bus to either the TTC or MK and then another bus or monorail (or boat) to the Polynesian. To be safe, figure about an hour travel time. That will eat a chunk out of your day. Are you going for the character meals, or have you looked at menus? Crystal Palace is a restaraunt inside Magic Kingdom. It is a character buffet, with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. Lots of fun, and transportation is easier if you already plan on going to MK for the day. -

Are you arriving Oct 20th? It looks like you are planning Epcot that evening? If yes, I might consider changing that as that is the Food & Wine festival, and the locals will be out in droves (not to mention all the others). I would consider doing a meal at a hotel and just relaxing and swimming after traveling all day. Also, are you planning on staying for extra magic hours at other times? If yes, then afternoon breaks are a MUST, especially for the littles if you want to keep them up late. -

After looking at your plan, I'm wondering which hotel you are staying at. While at Disney we always take mid-day breaks, no matter the ages with. I cannot recommend that enough. Personally, I wouldn't want to schedule sit down meals in one day, I wouldn't want to lose the touring time. If I really felt it necessary, I would want Crystal Palace as close to 8am as possible, so that I was already in the park before it opened. -
Calling All Opera Lovers
Seeker of Schole replied to BoZeeCo's Mom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
The two favorites here are: Magic Flute (4-year-old loves this one) Phantom of the Opera (17-year-old loves this one) -
Have not finished reading, but wanted to touch on this from an outside view. I have an Uncle and Aunt, both are ordained ministers, they have raised three children. He initially went and became an ordained minister, as the children were growing she went to school and was ordained as well. They have spent time in various churches, both as the Pastor, and as Interim Pastors. They also have traveled on missions (a year in Haiti, for example). Their children are amazing. Beautiful, intelligent, well-rounded, successful, christian people. Two of them have followed in their parents footsteps and gone into ministry in various capacities, the one that didn't is instead working towards woman's rights in Ghana. So, long answer short, it seems that both parents can be involved in ministry without the kids losing out. Of course, I don't have their perspective, but I suspect that if I asked, they would not change a thing.

Our house went on the market last Mondday and we went under contract on Saturday. We're in shock, but very thankful. Now we're hoping everything goes ok with the inspection and financing, and trying to figure out where we go from here. Positive thoughts for all of you, April is the month... -

The house went on the market Monday. We had a showing scheduled for Wednesday, but they canceled. We did have a showing today. We have a realtors open house next week. Hopefully that will get things moving as well. So here's to hoping that we will actually get an offer this time... -
I had my oldest at 20, and then had my second at age 33. There are things I do differently, and will continue to do differently with my youngest. I don't see it as practice, just as different. They are growing up with different circumstances, which require different things from them. It's not bad, or wrong, it just is what it is. Sorry, that may not help much, but that's how I look at it... It would be bad if we didn't learn from our first children and correct those issues for the rest. Also, my sister and I are two years apart - so without the age difference - but were raised differently just due to a combination of my parents 'relaxing' after the first one and the differences in our personalities.

:iagree::iagree::iagree: I believe what was originally handed down was the infallible word of God. I also believe that what we have in front of us is a many times translated and edited by humans work. There have been books removed and added at different times, and that alone reflects the desire of man to use God's word to manipulate. So while I believe the story of salvation, I also believe there is a need to study and meditate and research and pray over the Word.

I understand the "all or nothing" point of view with regards to the Bible, but I'm not sure I see YE or OE as going against that. Isn't it also biblical that our concept of time is not the same as God's concept of time? Last I checked, the calendar was a human creation... So while I believe the Bible when it says something was specific was created on each day, I'm wondering where in the Bible it states what a day is. That it is actually a 24-hour time period as we think of it. I still have not determined where I stand on the YE vs. OE debate, so these discussions always suck me in as I'm always looking for more info.

Tax people... A question
Seeker of Schole replied to Michelle My Bell's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Generally that is something that is set out in the divorce decree. If your divorce will not be final before then I would ask him to split the kids tax wise. If it will, then whatever is worked out and in the decree is legally binding. -
May I please jump in here with some questions also? This is something that I have been pondering for a while. Genesis 4:22 And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." Doesn't that imply that there was death before the fall? That man was created to die? Or since man was only forbidden to eat from the tree of knowledge and not the tree of life does that mean that while he was created to die, he was allowed to eat from the tree of life before sin and thus live forever? Sorry, this is just one of many things that I have been questioning lately...
