  1. That's probably true. The curric I am using (oak Meadow) starts with the late 1800's. I'm assuming it will go backwards a bit each year. I want to compliment our curriculum with SOTW but don't want to be reading a completely different time period. I'm finding oak Meadow doesn't have enough info in it for history, and need a more inclusive guide because our library is very small and I have a hard one finding good living books
  2. Has anyone read story of the world in reverse order? Volume 4 modern times 1850-2000 first. Then volume 3, volume 2, and finally volume 1 ancients.
  3. Thanks for the reply! Yes, it is definitely the color that is making the price skyrocket, but the whole beauty of this planner is in the colors and graphics. I think for next fall I will purchase some in bulk like you say, but since this "season" of homeschool planners is practically over I can't afford to do that and have them go unused. Even in bulk, the local printing companies are only giving a 20% discount, which is still more than I could charge even without profiting. I guess for this year I will just not have printed planners as an option and do some research before next year. xoxo
  4. I created a homeschool planner, (a file you print and bind yourself). But my customers are wanting a printed planner as well, and the quotes I'm getting are around $90! I've checked local printing companies, fedex, office max, and more. I can't imagine it is that much to print and bind this thing! It is 69 pages double sided (so 138 total) and a simple spiral binding. Suggestions?
  5. I ordered June 1 and got my stuff July 1.
  6. This is exactly what I have a problem with! If you post anything not roses and sunshine, they will delete your comment! And that is not right.
  7. We did my well planned day, and it never really worked properly so we quit. It still doesn't work properly from what I have read on Facebook and others. It's sad because it could have been an awesome program but they tried to come out before they were ready, and actually charged people money for a product that doesn't work. I found an iPad app called homeschool helper and I love it! It's so easy to use, has everything I need, and is only $2.99 I think! I do wish I could sync it on cloud and have it on multiple devices, but I almost always have my iPad when we are doing school anyway. Before the app, I loved the free planning pages I got with our preschool curric (also free) from weefolkart.com
  8. we use the wheat, but it tracks everywhere. currently in search of a low/no tracking litter.
  9. I'm 31, with 3 kids and I LOVE my diva cup. It makes me not dread, or even care about my period. I have less cramps, and it seems shorter, also. I wear backup at night (mama cloth - which are cloth pads) and during that heavy first day or so. If you check ebay they usually have them pretty cheap. That is where I got mine.
  10. I love this! I've got some lowes gift cards burning a hole in my pocket! lol
  11. I run an online retail business, selling cloth diapers and such, but it doesn't actually bring in much income, so I don't consider myself a work at home mom in that sense. I also sew for profit, but again, not much money or time.
  12. My daughter will be 7 this month, and I want to have her start helping more around the house. She is very helpful, and will clean her room, etc. but I have been reading that people have children cooking/baking/cleaning. So I'm wondering, what kind of things do your children help with?
  13. I can't help but be a little miffed that they are having people pay to test this for them. I thought their beta testing should have taken care of that. And I don't see why they won't offer a 30 day trial. I need to play with something before I can commit to buying it. Especially since it is a yearly fee. I'll wait it out, but I am interested in this olly! They do offer a free 30 trial and it's for Mac! I'm very much a Mac person, I just wonder if it is syncable. (so I can see it on my iPad and my iMac).
  14. Im thinking I'll be waiting until closer to August. It's only a year subscription, so if I start it now, I'm paying for months I won't be able to use it, since all the features aren't there and it's so rough. I would rather wait until they have it worked out, and get a full 12 months of use. I believe it is $40 until close to the end of august. It stinks, because I'm a planner and like to have things done in advance. (especially since this baby is coming any day) I was so looking forward to this, even telling everyone about it, but I've been disappointed ever since the launch went haywire.
  15. We're putting ours on the market this week! We just made an offer on another house. I am praying everything works out. But considering houses aren't moving, I don't see how they will. :(
  16. Can I tell you how excited I am about this? I started using homeschool skedtracker or whatever it is called, and although it is functional, it is a bit hard to maneuver. I'm a more visual person. I don't want to have to click 5 places to see things. I did find a student schedule planner app called "Pocket Schedule", and it looks nice, but I'm not sure if it will allow me to track hours, I don't think so. I also do not think it will sync. So say I have it on my ipod, and my ipad, they won't have the same information. I tried using cozi, and I like the idea that it syncs instantly as long as you have an internet connection, and can be viewed online. However, it doesn't keep records, or make reports like I would need. I'm currently trying to print forms to make my own paper planner :( Even that is frustrating me, and making me want to buy the well planned day planner. LOL *ugh!*
  17. Dar I can't see. :( I love school room pics. It sounds lovely!
  18. I have both a mac and a PC - I prefer the mac hands down. However, I am using an online program at the moment called www.homeschoolskedtrack.com I believe is the website. That way it can run from any computer, wether I am home, or out and about. I'm not sure I'm in love with the program, but its free and functional for now. :)
  19. I'm running OS X 10.6.7 and am DYING for a good planner. I love the feel of the planner over at simplycharlottemason.com but it doesn't let me see anything past 2 days. I need something that allows me to see all week, next week, etc. I would LOVE to have the login info for the student so she can see what needs to be done without having to deal with all of my "stuff". The ability to at least see your plan on the ipad or ipod touch would be fantastic. An app you might want to look at is http://www.cozi.com They are an online organizer that will automatically update all of your devices (ipad, ipod, etc) because the actual data is online. However, as long as nothing has changed since you last updated, you can view the info offline as well. This may be far reaching - I'm not sure how in depth you want to be, but I would love a really thorough planner that would make me feel comfortable enough to not put it on the computer AND paper for once!
