  1. I have a question about restrooms. We're hoping we'll be able to have more people this coming weekend for services. Our services are about 1.5 hrs long and some people drive a good 30-45 mins one way to get to church. It is hard to tell them not to use the bathroom. But, how should we proceed. I'm thinking: Having some kind of "occupied" sign to hang out when someone is using it. Asking them to wipe down all hard services they touch with their hands - sink, door, etc. Does that sound like enough? Too much? I would love some thoughts.
  2. I wonder - are you talking about a split foyer house. In America we have those- You walk in and there's stairs going up and down in the foyer. Upstairs is usually the living room, dining, kitchen - maybe a bedroom or two with a bathroom. Downstairs is playroom, bedrooms, baths.
  3. My oldest son was late. We was shorter than his next youngest sibling (my daughter) for a long time. In fact, they were still giving him cups with a lid and straw (like they do for little kids) at the restaurants when he was in his teens and he younger sibling would get a regular "adult" cup. He would be so 😡 obviously. I do remember when we first started teaching him to drive (so about 15.9-16yrs) he was still very short. I remember being worried because my family all mature early and are quite tall. My dh and his family are late bloomers and short (I'm taller than my dh). Of course, we wanted our son's to be taller than dad. DS now over 6' tall and married. I guess if there's no history of late blooming or shortness on either side of the family, it might be worth it to get some testing done now. I would also talk with the dr. about what would happen if you waited until he was 16.
  4. I went yesterday and had lunch with my aunt and sister at aunt's house. My sister has been seeing her regularly but i have not. We then went to the Amish market. Everyone had masks but social distancing was difficult. @regentrude The backpacking trip sounds heavenly.
  5. you live in the BEST place. Between that and the monolith, I want to move to your neighborhood. 🙂
  6. huh?? I have never seen this and I'm not sure what you are talking about. She asks him to step away from the checkout line to what??!! That is weird.
  7. no he is not acting there. But he could be a guest like Baldwin guests when he plays Trump. CC is perfect because he played a creepy old man on Community. And yes, full circle from Ford to Biden.
  8. A friend suggested that Chevy Chase should play Biden on SNL. 💗🤣
  9. oh my goodness.. how awful. So very sorry. hugs.
  10. I just finished listening to "The Coroner's Lunch" and enjoyed it. It's set in 1970's Laos right after the war. It is a mystery. It gave me a little glimpse into another time and culture as well as having interesting characters. The Bartimaeus series is good. I especially liked the first one. True Grit. It is a little gritty but not sexual. It is really a great book. The Book Thief Far From the Madding Crowd Persuasian E=MC 2 (can't make the squared): The Biography of the Worlds most Famous Equation. Cry, Beloved County - great audio. There's two audio versions. I can't remember which one is the better narrator. One narrator isn't so great. Gilbert Cunningham series by McIntosh - it's a light mystery set in medieval England. Anything by Wodehouse - Wooster and Jeeves series. Can't wait to see what others suggest. I'm hitting a dry spell right now.
  11. I feel like this question has been asked but I couldn't find it doing a search. Does anyone have some fun online games they're playing. I've been playing Dominion online but I'm starting to get bored with it. If anyone also played it and wants to play with me pm me your game name. But I'm really looking for some new games that aren't too complicated. I already have several typical card games plus, cribbage, backgammon, Mahjong too.
  12. horrible. I can't even imagine killing your own children. How awful.
  13. I wish! I would love to watch those again.
  14. I've been enjoying old game shows like Match Game and Hollywood Squares It's kind of fun to go back and see the people from my childhood like: Charles Nelson Reilly, Paul Lind, Brett Somers, Gene Rayburn, Nipsey Russell, and Burt Convoy. I don't watch the whole show, but tune it in for a few moments. My husband and I have been enjoyed "Lovejoy" and "Silent Witness" too. Those aren't quite as old as my childhood, but they at least 20 or more years old.
  15. yes. I started making my baby blankets smaller a few years ago. I didn't think to call them Stroller blankets! Good idea. For me it has been plants and lumber. We built a privacy screen for the driveway because the garage had been turned in the MB suite years ago. I look out my window now and see flowers and privacy instead of our parked cars and trashcans 🙂
  16. Speaking of Love Boat. I used to love watching reruns of Love, American Style when I was a kid. I know some of the humor was above my pre-teen self, but I always thought it was a fun show.
  17. I need some older shows that are bingeworthy. Thanks for the idea. I loved the show Taxi but I can't find it anywhere (I don't have Hulu)
  18. That is encouraging. My sister's parish had their first services today. She's in the midwest. We're still in prep mode. People are getting frustrated here in my county. I heard there was a demonstration at a recent County Council meeting with our County executive. This was before all the demonstrations too.
  19. I agree.. I have a love/hate relationship with this season. I'm still coughing and don't have a voice. All because I wanted the stupid windows open when it was in the 70s. Ugh. I hope you're feeling better today.
  20. I think it is poorly written and you're right and can be misunderstood. The way I understood it is that at the practice the choir was not practicing any kind of distancing and they were doing other activities other than singing, such as sharing food (mostly likely from a common table as I have experienced in choir practices) and stacking chairs- which requires some lifting, etc. Then later 19 members were considered part of some of the research as probably having covid -but were never actually tested. Of course,, you could be right too 🙂 But I do remember other articles stating that no one at practice appeared sick or coughed.
  21. I'm confused about what you're confused about 😄 Is this the portion you are referring to? : I think here it is saying that only 53 members attended those choir practices. I didn't think the article was saying that people attended the practices being sick (or thinking they were sick with something). I remember that one article I read a while ago stated that no one coughed or seemed sick at the choir practice. The CT article is the first one I've read that references 2 different practices, so I don't know what's up with that.
  22. I thought my grandson's online schooling experience fits well with this meme. His body language screams...."Do I have to do this?."
