  1. I can offer no help on a dependable water heater. But, your topic reminded me of something my son did when he was somewhere between 2 and 3 years of age. He made me a Mother's Day card at church. I opened it up and there was a picture of something and I couldn't quite decide what it was. I asked my son what he had drawn and in his proudest voice he said, "Oh mama, it's your Mother's Day water heater!" :001_tt1: I still have that card!
  2. I love his music and I think his bod looks amazing for a 67 year old man (yes, I know I'm in the minority, but I've always had a crush on him).
  3. I agree, it is a very big deal. My ex-husband did the same thing to me last year. When you can think straight start writing down everything that you think you and your children will need to survive. Write it down no matter how insignificant it may seem. Because at some point it will be. I am very sorry that you are having to go through this (and I really hope you and your husband can work things out). But if you don't, protect yourself.
  4. My ex and I divorced last year due to cheating on his part (we were married for 25 years). When we divorced, I got a very good lawyer, I also got 1/2 his 401k, a new house in another state, a new car, all the furniture from my old residence, child support as long as my disabled son lives with me, and alimony until I reach full retirement age. He got to keep the old house (with the big mortgage), and all the bills. His girlfriend (who was 20 years younger than him) left him when her husband found out they were living together. All that being said, we are now very good friends. He stays some nights in a spare room, comes over for dinner and we talk and text regularly. We get along better now than we have since he left.
  5. Two drivers, sixteen year old son and me. Two cars with full coverage ($500 deductible), $1800 yearly through USAA. We live in the Southeast. We moved from Alabama to Tennessee last year, changed from Geico to USAA and the rates dropped by about 50%. :hurray: :hurray:
  6. :grouphug: :grouphug: So very sorry for your loss.
  7. I see it all the time. I thought that maybe people spelled it the way they said it :confused1: . Makes me crazy!
  8. You may want to take a look at the csthea.org website, it has some useful information. Also, Hilger Higher Learning offers high school science classes.
  9. You might want to look at the CSTHEA.org (Chattanooga Southeast Tennessee Home Education Association) website. It has a wealth of information that might help you. Also check Hilger Higher Learning, they have some good classes. FriedClams is right, it is nice here (even though it's only going to be 4 degrees tonight and a high of 14 degrees tomorrow)!
  10. Hi - You may want to check the csthea.org (Chattanooga Southeast Tennessee Homeschool Education Association) website. They have a great deal of information that may be helpful to you. Information about graduation, prom, sports, classes, support groups and may other things. I grew up in Chattanooga and can tell you that there is a multitude of things to do around here (or at least within a short driving distance).
  11. Hi - I received a reply to a reply I made on youtube regarding an old Osmond video. I do not read or speak French but would like to know what is written (unless it is offensive). Could someone please translate for me? Bonsoir Elvis, j'aimerai savior si cette video est Francaise? Je suis un Os fan el merci d'advance pour la response. Amicalement. Thanks!
  12. I've had "Here I Am, Lord" going through my head for about 2 weeks. :001_smile:
  13. My mom was 25. I was 24 when my first was born, 37 when the second was born. DH's mom was 16 and had all five of her children before she was 24.
  14. My name is Julie. We live in NE Alabama (less than 10 miles from TN and GA). I have a 31 year old stepson, a 27 year old ds (both educated in ps) and a 13 year old ds. I have been homeschooling the youngest for 4 years. We homeschool because my son really, really hated ps and I really, really wanted to hs him. My hubby is a drag racer (and it appears that youngest may be also). So my hobby (if you want to call it that) is going to drag races.:001_smile: I enjoy this board a great deal, even though I don't post often.
  15. I have a nonverbal, wheelchair bound son that had braces beginning at age 15. He, for the most part, was very compliant with the care of his teeth while he was wearing the braces (he wore them for about 30 months). He is not able to spit, so taking care of his oral needs is a bit of work. I did buy a water pic for him. Since he was not able to spit, I would have him lean over the sink, turn the water pic on the lowest pressure and go around the braces and teeth as much as he would tolerate (I put ACT rinse in the water). In the beginning, we made a mess. After a couple of weeks of practice, we got better at it. I wouldn't say the water pic made things easier, but it did it's job. When the braces came off, his teeth were beautiful and he is able to chew better. I found that the biggest problem with the braces on a disabled child was getting him to open his mouth the right amount so that I could get the rubber bands on and off his teeth correctly. I hope things work well for your dd and you!
  16. I became a stepgrandmother at 42. My grandchildren call me YaYa and their other grandmothers Nana and Grammy. My stepson's grandmother on his mother's side is called Grunt (still haven't figured that one out yet).
  17. I had 4 wisdom teeth, all impacted, and all removed when I was about 21. My dh and oldest ds never had any wisdom teeth. My middle ds had 4 wisdom teeth that erupted at age 15. We had them all removed at one time and then he got his braces. My youngest ds also has 4 (showing up on x-rays). I'm really hoping he can keep his, but it's not looking too promising!:glare: Elvis and Miss Kitty
  18. We have a 2004 Honda Odyssey that I have driven 230,000 miles (turned today). The only things we have done to it are normal maintenance, 3 sets of brakes, oil changes, tires and replaced the timing belt at 100,000 and 200,00 miles. It has been the best vehicle I've owned. We're trading it this week for a newer model Odyssey because we are making a trip to Cape Cod in about 3 weeks and my husband wants something newer to make the 1100 mile (each way) trip. We're also trading because he tells me that at some point, with the mileage that I've put on it, things will start breaking and better to get rid of it now than when it starts falling apart. I'm going to miss my old van!
  19. :iagree: I would have much rather seen him get voted out than the way he left!
