  1. I had a line like that once. Granted, it was probably 20 years ago, but it was negative. I think the material got wet and you could see through it somehow. Sort of like a wet t-shirt. Maybe that's not the best example, but you get the point.
  2. Thank you all so much for praying and sharing the page. There is a facebook page now, Help Find Grace. Please continue to share and pray. There has been no word. I think there was one lead, but it was a dead end. We are all doing as much as we can for the family. Netsai came through the surgery very well!
  3. Yeah, but at graduation, it's really cool to have some around your neck!
  4. After reading this, I think the zero was appropriate. 2 other students, in addition to her, had to seek a supplemental internship. She feels that she was targeted because they complained. If so, where are the other students? Did they feel targeted too? Or did they move along just fine and get their degree? I'm just not buying it.
  5. I've been thinking about doing this. I'm not going super militant in it, but my goal is to give up bad sugars. Things like soda, sugary treats, etc. Natural sugars and things like bread I'll still have. I'll reduce my milk intake, but not cut it out completely. Stevia is natural, isn't it? So I can still drink my flavored waters. I've also been toying with "giving up" my early morning time: 6:30-8:30. I LOVE to sleep, but if I could get up earlier, I would be able to exercise and have a quiet time, and get a few chores done. Exercise class is 9-10 or 10:30, whenever I need to leave. I might just do that on the mornings I could hit exercise class, which are M, T, alternate TH and F. I could still sleep a bit later on W and alternate THs. This is SO hard!
  6. This was us. DD1 had an expander for 6(?)months. Her baby teeth looked perfect, but then her front two permanent teeth started trying to come in and there was no room. We expanded and pulled 4 baby teeth. She is Asian and our dentist said from the first time he saw her that she would need LOTS of metal. When the baby teeth look perfect, that's a problem. There should be gaps. And Asians generally have large teeth. Her teeth DID look atrocious. The top 4 were very bucked. Now they look much better. She will probably have a second set of braces at a later date. The ortho says she will. I say we'll wait and see. DD2 is doing fine. Her baby teeth had gaps and she, so far, has space for her permanent teeth. Hoping for no more than one set on her. (If any!) I tend to be in the camp that braces are great if there are chewing/alignment problems or majorly crooked teeth, but just a little crooked....how about we put that money towards a car or tuition!???
  7. I agree completely. I think we are all acting on the weird premise that they are asking someone they barely know to take care of the baby. And if you don't know these people, then you should not do it for lots of reasons. She may get to know them over the course of a few months or a year and decide that her concern was oh so silly. She might also see them on the evening news as the scammers who were arrested. I think we are all just thinking WHY it is not a good idea, and what would possess someone to ask a (almost) complete stranger to watch their 9 mo old child.
  8. This makes me think scam artist. Like the people who fall in stores and collect all kinds of money. As horrible as it sounds, they could do something 'time delayed' to the baby and then collect all kinds of insurance money. You know NOTHING about them. They may not even be mother and daughter....
  9. In our current home, the owners were downsizing, so they left behind all kinds of junk. They had asked us and we told them it was fine. He was sick, and she had fallen the day the movers were there. Our previous home was a condo that was brand new. Sounds nice, though!
  10. Thank you all! I am sharing a note from her mom. Unfortunately, there's no news. I cannot imagine one child having surgery and another missing. The heartache! Thank you all so much! I will keep you all posted, as best I can. Mark, and I are deeply humbled and blessed by the out-pour of love and support we've gotten for our family. We are coming up on 48 hours and still very little to share or update you on. Grace is being prayed for by thousands of people across the Nation!! If anyone has any information, any leads, any ideas.... We are willing to look at everything! Today we continued to walk our journey with Netsai at Shriners Hospital where she underwent another surgery. This time for her face and lower lip. It was very successful and she's resting peacefully. We are so thankful for the meals, prayers, help with the kids, visits and notes. I wish I could respond to each one.... Just know that all your words have deeply touched our whole family! Love to all of you!!
  11. Yeah, that Amber Alert thing had me scratch my head too. 16 yr olds USUALLY do not leave home ENTIRELY of their own choice. minimally, they have been brainwashed some. Someone has to be assisting them, usually, it's an adult...custodial interference at the least. And an Amber Alert.
  12. This has hit a lot of us especially hard, because she is one of those super good girls. Active in youth group, etc. It's an in your face 'if it can happen to her, it can happen to anybody' type of thing, sort of like the Elizabeth Smart thing: good family, mom's home, dad's very involved, family vacations with ALL the kids, etc. Also, it is posted on our church's facebook page, so I'll share the link here. I'm sure they would love to see prayers from around the world! Plus, you never know where she might be, and who might find her! http://www.facebook.com/faithchurchmilford?fref=ts
  13. Please pray for M and G. They have 10 children (3 adopted). One of their teenage daughters ran away Wednesday night. they think she is with a much older man. She is 16. In addition to this, one of their adopted daughters (possibly not adopted, just guardianship thing) is in the hospital. She came to the family from somewhere in Africa, I think, for medical care and several surgeries. My friend homeschools, and her children range in age from around 21 down to 6. Thank You so much.
  14. For me, medication is the only thing that makes me able to HS. Also, as horrible as it sounds, I can't do a lot of things where I have to be involved, such as reading aloud. I just put it off, and put it off, and then we're at Friday and need to do a whole week of History.
  15. what I really need is sort of like a Survey of Art curriculum, where we learn abotu the artist and his work (or her) with no hands on work required. In addition to not being artistic/creative, she also has sensory issues that cause her to not want to TOUCH a lot of the mediums.
  16. My younger daughter is a budding artist. I mean for real. My older one will NOT take any art classes now, and I can't blame her. We've always done art through our coop, but those classes all include art projects. So, I'm in charge of teacher oldest art next year, and I'm at a loss. I need something that will teach the masters, their works and their techniques, without asking for samples. Suggestions?
  17. That's is when I started on the pill with no breaks. It gets us through without any breaks in the flow (no pun intended) of the school year. I usually take 1 or 2 breaks each year, Thanksgiving (we have no family, so that is pretty much JUST a week off), and then a week over the summer. Technically, I don't need to do that, but it just doesn't feel right.
  18. the weighted vests work with kids. That's about all I can tell you.
  19. I have a Toyota highlander hybrid. I get about 25 mpg. It is a smaller SUV, so there is some space. I *THINK* you can get them with 3 rows of seats, but we only have 2 girls so we didn't worry about it. There are only 3 brands that DH will even look at in cars: Toyota, Honda, & Subaru. I had an outback, the older model that wasn't built up to look like a mini SUV, and I *LOVED* it. If they ever come out with a hybrid or HIGH mileage one, I'm all over it! DH drives a prius, and it gets 40-50 mpg.
  20. I checked other. DH avoids MSG due to migraines, and DD cannot have red or yellow food coloring. We do a lot of cooking from scratch.
  21. I checked other. I have a smoothie every morning, but they vary each day. Some days they are good, and some days I have to choke them down.
  22. Both my girls have a nook. It's been good, but I'd go with something that is Android, so that books can be read on it. FREE books, that is. Nook is Barnes and Noble and it is proprietary. Android tablets can read e-pub documents which include Gutenberg downloads and library books. I'm not sure if Apple can read epub.
  23. I have a question now! This has been a great thread, btw! Tons of great information!! The 23 qt Presto cooker, the quart jars are the bigger ones, right? how do you fit 23 of those into that cooker? or into the 30 qt other brand one? You stack them? how many layers tall? My goodness, I could can SO MUCH with those!
  24. I was thinking of the Christmas song by George Michael (?) Last Christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day, you gave it away I see now that my tenses were off. I was born in the mid 60's, an have NO CLUE about the quote.
