  1. I'd love to get my second download as well. My link is: http://homeschoolgiveaways.com/bf-freebies/?c20152Le
  2. I use Wunderlist. I'm too scatterbrained to use complex systems, so Wunderlist is perfect. Make a list on my phone, cross off things as they get done. Rinse, repeat. :-)
  3. Is there any way she can give him extra worksheets if he finishes ahead of everyone else? Or perhaps he can take a chapter book to school that he can pull out when he finishes his work? That way, he can be occupied, but not disruptive. Maybe even take a Beast Academy or Life of Fred book to pull out when he's bored. Also, I would love to know which math program(s) you were using to get your ds two years above grade level. :001_smile:
  4. I'd say around 10 for all 4 operations. :)
  5. Thanks! I've been thinking about introducing my son to MineCraft, but didn't know how to go about it.
  6. Definitely say something now, just to get it on record. Any incident that comes up with this teacher, say something. That way, each incident will be on record and eventually, you'll have more than enough evidence that this man is not a suitable match for your son and does NOT need to be teaching him. Good luck!
  7. Wow. How inattentive can one possibly be? Very upsetting.
  8. Fabulous! So happy for you and your son!
  9. Thanks for sharing! I've never heard if Visualize The World, it looks amazing!
  10. My kids use CTC Math and like it, but Pat (the creator) has said that past sixth grade, CTC Math is more of a supplement than a curriculum. It's helped my kids a lot, they used it over the summer and are now getting A's and B's in math when they used to get B's, C's and the occasional D. :-! They are in 1st, 2nd and 4th grade. They still have trouble understanding the lessons every now and then, so sometimes I have to explain it them, or find an appropriate YouTube video. Khan Academy was useless to us. It didn't help them at all. HELP Math is really good, it's for older students (grades 4-8, I think) and you can also look into Gizmos... I think it's Learning Gizmos. It's made by the same people who created Reflex Math.
  11. Fabulous idea! While in PS, my first grader's teacher had a "treasure box" and the students who were good for the week got to choose a cheap little toy from out of the treasure box. You would be surprised at how excited they were to rummage through all of those cheap little toys and pick the one that they wanted. :-D I'm going to try out the treasure box (bedazzled shoe box! LOL!) and buy up a bunch of little dollar store toys. I'll also do the tickets. Ten a day. Fifty will get you a trip to the treasure box at the end of the week.
  12. Peg + Cat is very good. It introduces lots of math concepts in an easy to understand way. My six year old son loves Super Why.
  13. Have you heard of Tales2Go? You can get a free trial or buy through HSBCO here: https://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/tales2go/?source=173752 They have lots of awesome audio books for kids, and you can listen on any handheld device or computer. My kids absolutely love it. Between that and myON, the kiddos always have something to read.
  14. I bought my daughter's glasses from Zenni. Two pairs for $60-something, and they are really cute. She always gets compliments on them, and they were delivered in like a week and a half. You can try them on digitally after getting your measurements from your optometrist. :-)
