  1. No, a CT won't show the same info for brains as a MRI or more ideally a PET OR SPECT scans. A CT has a lot less info.
  2. Is traveling for a second opinion at a bigger children's hospital an option? My second DD is medically complex and we travel to the next state for medical care and while the drive (and stay) is a hassle and a half it's worth it. I would want a program that does more integration between specialists on site. Your ped not being there may make it harder for them to get the whole picture- for example where my DD goes they all sit, in the same room, and talk cases over.
  3. I think it'd be most helpful to look for resources specific to your auto-immune condition. That's such a wildly broad category it's really tough to offer input without more information.
  4. And beginning of Lent! (I know it's not Orthodox Lent yet, but will be soon). If you want some new suggestions for easy and fun things to do to pull Lent into your daily life here's an article with nine suggestions. http://thefederalist.com/2015/02/18/nine-easy-ways-to-participate-in-lent/ Do you have any favorite Lenten traditions?
  5. This. I know it wasn't just me noticing this. I'm not suggesting counseling to be snarky. It's the opposite. I am concerned about the things you are *choosing* to share on a public forum and the pattern that has emerged.
  6. I say this in kindness. You've been posting on here, a lot. I don't remember you too much before all this stuff, but you look like you have a lot going on. I think you all need counseling and some help. An internet message board is really not the place for that. You're also putting a ton of details on your life AND your children's lives. This is a public place. I would stop and think about how they're going to feel if they ever read all of this. Ymmv.
  7. I know a family who raised all their money for a Ukraine adoption on GoFundMe and have nothing but good things to say about it. Do it!
  8. http://news.yahoo.com/says-beheaded-egyptian-copts-libya-193850727.html Don't click the links to the stories if pics bother you- they all seem to have the people in question and videos. :( So much killing in the world. :(
  9. My eldest is being confirmed in May. She needs a white dress. She is going to be 11 in April. She is 5ft tall but incredibly slender. She likes things knee length or so. Where would you look?
  10. I would tell her that your family is unable to assist her with home electronics repair and just pleasantly repeat, "We are not available." Sorry you are dealing with that.
  11. That's really common here. They want a chance to sit and see if any health things have arisen that'd contraindicate vaccines since a shot only appt here is just the nurse, not a doctor.
  12. Ipad. Bring an ipad with games. I bring bags of duplos or legos, depending on whether the kid is at an age to eat toys. Sticker books. Comfy socks, chap stick (the air is *dry*). Those crayola books that have markers that only work on special paper. Is it a children's hospital? Is there a child life specialist on staff? You can have them come in and bring toys. Bring an easily washable lovey and a familiar blanket.
  13. My 2 and 4 year olds liked it, but yeah, she's a taxidermist and wants to stuff Paddington.
  14. Have had three kids with CP and this doesn't at all look like it. Have you called the doctor?
  15. MMR reactions start 8-14 days after the shot, not right away, so that's possible. I would call your doctor.
  16. Interesting article on VAERS and vaccine injuries, and how many are reported that are either very mild or not related. http://www.voicesforvaccines.org/vaccine-injury-stories-the-sacred-cows-of-the-internet/
  17. We don't live close to parks. My kids use it daily, for hours.
  18. http://www.redwineandapplesauce.com/ The left side has a lot of tags with pertinent info on vaccines and additives. The writer is a well known science writer and sources it all well.
  19. The number of vaccines has gone up, but the antigens have gone down. Here's a neat visual. http://www.voicesforvaccines.org/wpvfv/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/229292c4ddfab96ba8feadda0af2d6f7.jpg
  20. Berries. Our grocery store sells these awesome pints of mixed fresh berries and I can totally sit and eat them all in a sitting. MMMMMMM.
