  1. Thank you ! I did call but they are closed Sat. I will try Mon.
  2. Would anyone be able to help me? I want to buy IEW TWSS and SWI A. I can get the 2001 editions for a great price used but I was wondering if I should get the new 2010 edition or not? This was a previous post that I searched but there was no answer. "Does anyone know of differences between an older version (2000) of TWSS / SWI-A and the one published now (aside from the new Tips and Intro DVDs)? " Thank you for any help you might have! Blessings!
  3. I am planning on starting with cycle one CC next year. I purchased the app for cycle one and found the cycle 3 app as well. I can't seem to find a cycle 2 app. Does anyone know if there is a cycle 2 app ?
  4. I found this link on a previous thread about McGuffey readers and I was able to download them easily to my IPad PDF version. http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/14668
  5. That does help. It sounds like from what you all are saying is that some of the revisions were beneficial. I am also leaning towards the ones Kathleen shared or the Christian Eclectic ones. Thank you !
  6. I would like to purchase the McGuffey readers for my children. I just want to use them as readers alongside the SWR program. I am so confused after looking at all the versions and revisions. Does anyone have any recommendations on which version is best ? I heard that some of them have removed the God's values etc. I would want to have a biblically based reader that my children can still understand. I would so appreciate any suggestions ? Blessings, Anne Marie
  7. Awesome. I love buying my curriculum used and those are my favourite sites. I'd like to have it by July so I have some time. I will check homeschoolclassifieds again. Thanks again Becky I may have some questions again for you when I get going with these two curriculums if you don't mind ? ;) Blessings, Anne Marie
  8. Thanks Becky. That gives me a better idea of time. I like the idea of the latin five days a week :iagree:but having lighter days as it can be a bit intense. Also, having Friday as a test day works well with SWR. I see that you also do SWR. I finished my first year and although it was hard I love the program. I am going to get Latin for Children and the basic bundle looks good...less expensive too :glare: I really appreciate your help . AM
  9. Thank you for sharing that! Does your DD enjoy the DVD teaching for LFC ? We found the Prima Latina dry so I am hoping this curriculum will be more creative. I was also wondering how much time you spend for each lesson and how often you do your Shurley and LFC lessons ?
  10. I have a daughter who turned 6 in Feb and a son who just turned 8 this week. We did MFW K with my daughter and Adventures with my son this past year. The year before I did sonlight history with my son for Gr 1. I found my daughter lost in all the details but this year was much better using MFW Adv because you can keep it simple or get more of the recommended reading in the TM and go deeper. She loved the American theme with the songs and history stories as well as the timeline. I really like MFW Adv because you can easily bring it down to a younger level or scale it up. I am not as happy with the MFW K curriculum however we did enjoy the letter theme for the week and the cut out activities. We started SWR last year so the MFW K started to become a bit easy and repetitive. Hope this helps. Blessings, Anne Marie
  11. I am starting level 3 Shirley English Grammar this year. I have read that it combines well with Latin for Children. We used Prima Latina last year but want to switch to something more creative. I also am hoping to get some similarities between the english grammar and latin curriculums. Any thoughts ? Blessings, Anne Marie
  12. Wow..I am in awe of all that you can do with the iPad. Thank you for the info. on PDF expert and the type of stylus that works well with the worksheets.
  13. What type of iPad do you have ? I was also wondering what type of stylus you are using for Mammoth math or are they all the same ? How do you get your MM CDs to the iPad ? I read one post where PDF expert was used. I don't have an iPad so you will have to walk me through what you do if you get a chance :)
  14. Thank you for sharing as well. I love the idea of all the educational apps while you are working one on one with the other child. I do this with the laptop but it sounds like the iPad would have a lot more options and uses.
  15. Thank you all so much for all the info you have offered about your experiences with the iPad ! Keep it coming :D
  16. Wow ! Thanks for sharing this info. That's just what I was wondering about. We do MM so I'm excited to try this.
  17. I agree ! We do Mammoth math to supplement RSM. Thank you for sharing about using the stylus with the PDF worksheets. This is exciting !
  18. I completely agree. At first I was resistant to the idea of ebooks but with four children I can see the benefit space wise.
  19. Thank you for sharing this spreadsheet. What a great resource !
  20. I don't have an IPAD but my husband asked me if I would like one for Christmas to use to keep a homeschool schedule and do applications for the kids ie. writing assignments etc. I am also wondering if you can use enhanced CDs or student worksheet CDs and convert them to PDF files then put them on the IPAD and write directly on the worksheets with the stylis ? It would be nice to be able to do worksheets directly on the IPAD and not have to photocopy so much. I would love to hear any feedback or experience that you might have with an IPAD for doing school and or scheduling/record keeping. Blessings, AM
  21. I'm not sure if you know about the SWR yahoo group. It is under spellwriteread. Just a few days ago they had a discussion on how to keep track of missed spellling words. The endorsed SWR trainers also gave their feedback on what they do. I found it really helpful as there were some different ideas depending on how many kids you are teaching and the type of child. You can look up the posts if you go to messages and scroll back about 10 posts or so. Hope this helps.
  22. I wanted to clarify after rereading my post that when I asked about the games I was referring to SWR games and the Canadian spelling comment was about how I spelled the word "favourite" :).
  23. I did purchase the CDs so I'll be interested to see how it goes. My son is just starting to write better and he doesn't mind it now...6 months ago it would not have been fun so this is a recent change. I plan on possibly using it once a week to review one of the spelling lists and then do some spelling city another day and games for review. Thanks for the MP3 player/phone idea. I didn't even think of using my phone. That would be great idea especially to review any missed words so I don't have to record a long list and since these words are constantly changing. For us we need creativity so the more ideas for reviewing the better. We also love games for reviewing rules, phongrams and words. Does any of you have any favourite (Canadian spelling :)) games ? AM
