  1. I was planning on using Windows to the World with my 9th grader this year. But I was wondering if we should do Teaching the Classics before WTTW. I see in the course description that TTC is more of a teach the teacher course, but I would have my dd watch the instructional videos with me. I am looking for some feedback from those that have used these programs Thanks for any advice.
  2. I am planning on my dd going through this course this year(9th grade) along with a workbook I ordered from Rainbow Resource called "Sudy Strategies Made Easy." Would this be worth .5 credit on a transcript? What sort of title would I give this course on a transcript? Also, would a college see a course such as this as a potential negative?
  3. I loved these books as a teenager. The characters in the books are teenage girls dealing with homesteading in the Texas Panhandle. They are: 1. The Wind Blows Free 2. The Wide Horizon 3. The Good Land Happy Reading!
  4. Kareni, that's a great thread you linked. I've thought about preparing my dd to take the AP Human Geography Exam, but am not sure she can handle the extra pressure. PA Homeschoolers is too expensive for us at this time.
  5. My dd will be doing World Geography and Cultures for 9th grade. I am looking for a list of good novels, etc. that she could read along with the countries she is studying. Does anyone have any suggestions or can link me with any lists already on this board? Thank you.
  6. My dd will be taking Biology next year. I can't stand the smell of the specimens and hated doing dissection when I was in school.
  7. I saw an earlier thread saying good things about OK State online course for German and was wondering if anyone here had used them for Spanish.I really need a good online Spanish program for dd next year.
  8. I looked at the Red Wagon website. He is not going to teach with Apologia Academy next year. I thought about buying his biology class cds, but thought a live online class might be more enjoyable for my dd. I don't know why deciding on Biology is so hard for me. Maybe because I know it's for high school credit. :001_huh:
  9. Does anyone here have any experience with their students taking Biology through Apologia Online Academy? Also, I was wondering about Memoria Press Online-they teach Abeka Biology. Any feedback would be wonderful, positive or negative. I'm finding the reasons people don't like a certain curriculum or class are often more helpful to me!
  10. I've been looking at various online classes for dd entering 9th grade next year. Has anyone used Memoria Press Online for these classes: Biology--They use Abeka--from what I could tell on the website, they have a link to watch experiments being done. Does that fulfill lab science? I REALLY don't like dissection and dread doing it at home. I fainted in high school biology during dissection:001_huh: After that, my teacher just had me label diagrams! Understanding Music Latin I Lingua Angelica I Thanks for any info
  11. I'm trying to find a good Spanish program for 9th grade dd next year. If your student took Spanish through Potters School, was it a good experience? Or there any other programs that people recommend?
  12. Our beloved cat Pepper had to be put to sleep after being with us for 16 years. She had cancer. I have lost a dear friend and feel so much sadness. I sympathize with you loss.
