  1. My grandma's stuffing. It is made with 2 sticks of butter and 9 eggs...you can calculate the artery clogging goodness yourself, lol! I've started modifying the recipe from time to time. I am using sourdough bread this year. Other years, I have added sausage (it is a meatless stuffing originaly)
  2. I made the cheesecake portion for a pecan pie cheesecake. My waterbath leaked, so it will have a soggy crust. It is in the fridge now and I will do the pecan pie portion either this evening or tomorrow morning. SIL is making pumpkin pie.
  3. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Adding in my support as someone who has walked a difficult family journey. The others are spot on with all of the advice they have given. Hugs to you as you navigate this change.
  4. Kind of bummed my water bath protection for my cheesecake didn't hold. That ended up with a soggy crust. Live and learn. Any tips for saving it are welcome. Stuffing sourdough is in the oven drying. Veggies are chopped and sauteed for that. I will plan on assembling that in the morning.
  5. I agree with cabbage being standard with corned beef. I will just have to travel with my dish, so that feels limiting. I might give it a go anyways and see how it does. It will be a non-traditional meal as it stands because the hosting brother requested the non hosting brother bring stuffing. No clue what else is being served. (weird family dynamics leave me not questioning things, lol)
  6. Prepping ingredients for stuffing Gathering ingredients for gravy Setting a reminder on my phone to not forget to take the frozen bread dough out to raise. Assembling a green bean casserole Making pecan pie cheesecake Deciding on a vegetable dish to bring on Saturday to a different gathering where the main dish will be corned beef... Ideas welcome.
  7. I didn't get to cutting up the shirts today, but I did get all of the cabinets cleaned out and rearranged that I was hoping to. Tomorrow I will have to pick up the pieces and take care of a few leftover items. DH and I are both off tomorrow so we may go for a walk depending on the temperature outside and continue working on a few cleanup projects. I also need to make my pecan pie cheesecake tomorrow so it will have time to chill.
  8. This morning I have been working on cleaning up and rearranging some things in the kitchen. I'm on how to go pick up DD1 from school because she's not feeling well. I will keep working in the kitchen up until the time I am going to leave to meet my aunt for lunch. I will run a couple of errands when I am out, including a trip to Goodwill. My other for the days to cut up my dad's shirts for a memory quilt. There are a lot.
  9. I started cutting up shirts for a memory quilt this morning. We sold a couple things on Facebook marketplace, and then I got two bags and three boxes of things ready to go to a friend's house. I have a pile set for Goodwill that will be delivered on Tuesday. I made a list of errands to run on Monday and Tuesday.
  10. I got Sushi Go since I had to add on a few bucks to a Kohl's purchase.
  11. DH got a moderna one. He was sore and felt really cold, but no temp last night. Today he was loads better. Tired and just a little sore. Loads better that his 2nd shot which knocked him down for 5 days. I got a J and J. Just a slight soreness in my arm on occasion. Feels like a bruise when I move it.
  12. I would stick to naturally gluten-free things: A lettuce salad, dressing on the side. Assorted beverages (pop, stuff to make punch, wine) Cranberries (homemade or canned) Homemade cream corn (I have a crock pot recipe for this) Green bean casserole ( use canned gluten-free cream of mushroom soup, Aldi has gluten-free fried onions). Use frozen green beans as well
  13. Last year we just ding dong ditched some left overs to the in-laws who both had COVID but not until Friday. They were more in the eating soup and not eating very much at all phase still so it was no big deal.
  14. We installed a thousand square feet of Coretec about 5 years ago now. It is nicer to walk on than laminate flooring and is a little bit warmer. It is held up well to furniture and our little Yorkie. It has dented in a couple of spots where things were dropped on it, I can't say for sure what those items were, but they must have been significantly heavier because we drop an average amount of stuff that does not damage the floor, if that makes sense. Overall it still looks fantastic. We purchased a cheaper brand at Menards that went into our bathroom ( only because it was completed at a different time). That has also held up really well. We will probably put an LVP in our basement once we finish it.
  15. in addition to some that have been mentioned, we enjoy :Snipper clips The untitled goose game Overcooked
  16. @Spirea for your 12dd, one gift I got one of mine was some assorted fat quarters of fabric and a book with AG doll clothes accessories/patterns. It is called "Sew in Style, make your own doll clothes". I also was able to snag a sewing machine fairly cheap on shop Goodwill.com I found it at our local store that sells so I didn't have to pay shipping. Actual kindles are not screens and are nice to read on. Woot.com sells returns reasonably from time to time.
  17. Soundcore Q 30 noise cancelling are some we have that work welland sound nice. DH has Worktunes ones and he doesn't like the audio quality, but they are made for outside work.
  18. My hubby who is into audio quality likes his DAC. You can get a Bluetooth one at that price point. He let the kiddos try his set up and notice the difference.
  19. One teacher at my school adds a new penguin each day for the students to try and find. She teaches middle school.
  20. I totally agree, get as nice of supplies as you are able for someone interested in art. I echo what others have said so far. A few other things I've done are: Paint markers, mixed media weight sketchbook, pencil roll (cloth with slots for colored pencils), drawing books, portfolio to store work in and washi tape.
  21. Oh bummer. Again, I'm sorry. I hope you can find a good solution for him.
  22. I'm sorry, I've also been excluded because my kids didn't fit neatly into the children's programming offered at a church. His needs may qualify him for an IEP and special ed preschool. You could check with your district to see if they have a good fit.
  23. If they are open to suggestions, see if they will buy consumable art/craft items. That way the kids can just use up the materials and there will be less clutter.
  24. Yes, this. I had to do that a couple of times with my parents care. I called to "tattle" and let the Dr know the accurate picture and then let them address the issue. It made me feel better knowing I had done all I could do to help. They are experienced with this and we're great listeners to my concerns.
