I too am looking for a more CM/Ruth Beechick style of Language. I keep hoping I will find a lot of people who just LOVE the new LA because it sounds so nice. I am wanting to reinforce the phonics we are learning and gently introduce my children to copywork and some grammar concepts. We are doing CVC words in phonics, well..maybe a bit more advanced than that... My main problem is I need the structure of the Instructor's Guides. I am trying to move in the direction of a CM/RB style but...I am pulling in this and that and then find it impossible to implement. For me...I need the structure of an Instructor's Guide but I am also weak in LA skills so want it very clear for me to teach. In saying that...do you all think this would work for me? We are right in line fore the LA 1 readers and I honestly, in the lower grades, don't care for a formal grammar program at all, mainly want them reading, with a schedule, doing copywork etc... Hi, I am really struggling with the reasoning behind the ba, be, bi, sa, se, si approach to phonics as in Phonics Pathways vs the word family approach as in Alpha Phonics. I know SWB used to recommend Phonics Pathways until they did OPG. But..OPG is more like Alpha Phonics isn't it? Someone care to enlighten me on the main difference and why the two programs seem so different in approach. I have been using PP but am wondering it that is the way to go..questioning my decision, as usual. Kim

Hi, I don't know why phonics has been such a struggle for me. I am using Phonics Pathways w/ 2 of my children after trying probably 5 other programs. Why am I making this so difficult? Anyway...I have a 4 year old who is eagerly wanting to learn and do school. What I have realized about myself is that I am not very creative in putting together a daily lesson for the younger ones. What is a good program, that has daily lessons (short lessons for that age), that will teach phonemic awareness, letter sounds, putting together her own little letter notebook etc...? Thanks for your help! By the way...anyone NOT have Phonics Pathways work for them? Hi, Those using Phonics Pathways...do you make sure, at the review pages, that your child can say all the words on the page "automatically" before going on or do you allow them to "sound them out". For example....my child can sound out sock by doing sssssoooooock, then say "sock". Should he be able to see the word and automatically say "sock" before moving on? Thanks! Kim

Anyone use the Phonics Museum? I tried it with my son and it was not a good choice. Now I have a 4 year old daughter that is chomping at the bit, loves to sing, dance, color etc... I was thinking Phonics Museum would be a great choice because she also likes workbooks. I am also curious what people think of Alpha Phonics verses Phonics Pathways for those who do not like Phonics Museum. Thanks in advance!
