So...not to stir things up but...I am not UPS or Fed Ex or a big business, I am a homeschool mom who sells curriculum so I can buy curriculum. When I buy something, if it is more than a certain amount of money, I ask for them to insure it and I pay for the insurance. I feel like I am "gambling" a bit when I buy used but it usually turns out well, almost always. I am not saying I will not pay her back, I am not sure yet what to do on that but....I put DC on EVERYTHING I mail out. This says it was delivered. Having worked at the post office and delivered mail myself, scanning the package is a must. So...when you deliver it and only when it is actually taken to the door/mail box, is when you run your scanner over the numbers on the printed label. So...this package showed arriving at 9 am, that is when the post office scanned it (it arrived at the post office), then it shows delivered at 3pm, this is when the postal worker arrives at the location and scans the package (a must) when handing it to the person or putting it in the mail box. So....as I said, if she doesn't get it I may refund half or all, I am not sure, I needed that money to buy the stuff I need for school. I don't sell things, usually, because I want to...it is mainly because I need to. I am not sure what to do, will decide with her probably...IF it doesn't show up but I am guessing it has to be at a neighbors or at the post office. I guess I have always just figured if I buy something and want to BE SURE, I get insurance and I pay for it. To file an insurance claim, however...this may not have worked in this case either if the postal person is saying it was for sure delivered to the correct address. You usually have to have the wripped envelope or so much time has to have passed for it to not show up so... However...I feel badly for her and want to help her, if possible...so...if she doesn't get it and truly can't afford to get another one, I will do what I can for her...

I double checked with what she typed, in my pm, I double checked with what was on the paypal recpt. I also pm'ed her with the address, looking right at my recpt from the Click N Ship printout...so...I think the guy is mistaken. He said he delivered it yesterday, well....right on the usps website it shows delivered on the 18th, so..he is wrong in that and she apparently didn't get any mail yesterday. I think she needs to keep calling then and keep checking. I also told her to check with her neighbors just in case he stuck it in the wrong slot! I hope this gets resolved, it is very frustrating. I only had one other time I had to deal with the post office and the package didn't arrive to the buyer, but..we had insurance and it was still a mess! I just think that because this is a homeschool book, HOD Preparing TE manual and another book, someone will return it to her if it got put in the wrong box! I hope it all works out!!! I am not responsible for paying her back am I? I feel bad for her if something happened, this was a $50 or $60 deal, it wasn't a $10 book. I have NEVER had this happen, where it shows delivered and they say they didn't get it....NEVER in all these years.

I am just curious...I mailed out a package, with Delivery Confirmation. I went to the usps website and it shows delivered on Friday at 3pm. The lady pm'ed me and said she didn't get it? I told her that perhaps she should contact the post office as they show it arriving at their post office Friday morning and actually delivering it to her Friday afternoon. Not sure what I should do, I don't think there is anything I can do? Kim

Oh...I wish I lived by a thrift store but I don't! My darling mother has actually offered to get us this, or I wouldn't even be asking....we use a little tikes table and chairs now but my 6 and 8 year old need some sort of table. Also...do the 14" chairs fit 6 and 8 year olds.....for awhile? Even though my mom has offered to help, still need to keep it as cheap as possible. Kim

Hi, I am wanting a round table, or clover table and chairs for kids pre k to 3rd or 4th grade. Some of them I look at are horribly expensive, could never do that. Does anyone have something like this, I think it is 48" round or clover, seats 4 etc...and ADJUSTS as they grow? Know of any really good table and chairs that don't cost $500 or more? I guess if there are much cheaper ones...which are the best that won't fall apart in the first year. Looking for a way to have my younger ones do school work where they can reach and have room for their math stuff etc... Kim

You can view someones public profile and it usually tells their last activity, from what it looks like hers was 3-2-12, did you all send her PM's, I think I read that you did, sometimes if people respond or reply to my post I miss that but I never miss if someone PM's me.

Well..the reality is you can get scammed, even if using paypal correctly, I just remembered one transaction, it was only like $11 or $12 and it went under paypal as "under investigation", this was years ago, NEVER did get resolved because this person just changed emails or something so...that was NOT using personal paypal, it was regular paypal, and the woman sent me an item that was not what I ordered and I never did get my money back on that and I had all emails everything but they could never get her, for whatever reason, maybe it was the amount? I don't know... So...in all my years of buying and selling on here and buying and selling homeschool stuff I have had VERY FEW bad experiences considering the amount of stuff I have bought and sold! It is a great way for us to get things maybe we can't afford at reasonable prices so... Don't be scared off. Check the feedback, go by the emails, if I ever get real concerned I ask for pictures or I don't buy. But...you can tell a lot about their posts, their interractions with you, their feedback. It really does not happen a lot, when it does it puts a bad taste in your mouth..I still get leery but most people on here have been absolutely wonderful to deal with!!! Paypal used to have a deal where when you put in their email address it showed you if they were a "premier account or how long they had been with paypal etc.." now, I don't see that, not sure if they can be verified through paypal before purchasing...again..need to check the policies ;)...just trying to be a bit humourous, not nasty. I hope this lady is not just ill or something....I was looking back at her feedback and it seems odd....I do realize she was on the boards, I just hope everyone's stuff shows up and it is somehow a misunderstanding. Well....I am not a legal assistant for a defense attorney but I still think this whole thing is a bit harsh, if it is wrong then we get the word out it is wrong. I would never have refused to sell to someone using personal paypal and perhaps I should have checked paypals policies myself, instead of assuming that it was ok to use Personal paypal. You can bet I won't anymore...however, I don't always read all posts about things and I never saw this one linked here about paypal policies. Yes..it is my responsibilty to know paypals policies, no doubt... but really? I am truly sorry if anyone was scammed because I have been scammed before, not from this board, and it is infurating, it was before I ever used paypal and I sent a lot of money orders for homeschool stuff. So..I personally am very, very, thankful for paypal as it has given me a bit of a sense of security and I never would have knowingly ignored policies. So...you can say that ignorance is not excuse, I understand that but I still think that people reading posts about people who had talked to paypal and paypal said "it is okay to do this or that" and you read it from several places....well....if you want to call these people thieves then that is your perogative and perhaps legally you are correct, I really don't care...I still think it is over the top. Get the word out, if people still use PP, politely tell them what you have learned, if they still insist, report them, don't buy from them, and MOVE ON!! My guess is...most people on this board, after reading everything, will no longer insist on pp or use it, in realizing it goes against paypal policy. If you were scammed, leave negative feedback, don't start attacking everyone who has asked for personal paypal, yes, books are goods? I guess...I didn't even think about it, maybe I should have, I don't know. To me...it was selling my personal items, I often don't "make" much because I buy used and sell used, most times I lose money because I buy a lot new because I live where I don't get to go "look at everything", then sell it for a loss when I realize I am not going to use it. Yes...I think the word "thief" and questioning the sellers integrity is a bit...well...no, it is WRONG. I have asked for personal paypal, then I changed it to "unless you are not comfortable then please add such and such to help cover fee", ONLY because I know paypal doesn't "cover" personal paypal as far as insuring it or whatever...then I decided to just figure the fees in because the personal paypal thing is to uncomfortable for some. I was doing this because I had read several posts where people had contacted paypal and said that if we were buying and selling homeschool books it would be ok to use personal paypal payment. So...not trying to be a thief or a cheat or whatever the one poster said... Be careful when you start lumping everyone into one category when you absolutely obviously have not a clue about the people you are accusing of being theifs. Now..I normally don't make waves on here but I have not been feeling well and this just struck me wrong, real wrong but..I do not have a lot of tolerance right now for people harping on something w/out knowledge of what they are talking about, without any knowledge whatsoever of the people they are accusing. If paypal has since said it is wrong to ask for Personal Paypal then I, personally would NOT ask for it again. But...in dealing with paypal previously, when you can actually get someone on the phone, I have been given different answers to the same questions, depending on whom I have talked to. So..I am guessing if it is indeed wrong to ask for personal paypal payments for homeschool books, I do not believe it was started deceitfully at all OR with the intention to somehow steal from paypal, give me a break. Discuss the paypal policies, call them again and then correct any mistakes made for whatever reason...if people still choose to ask for personal paypal payments, maybe that don't understand or read the same posts I did. I never saw the post that was linked in this discussion until just now or I would have checked into it myself, not so I can accuse anyone else, just so I know the right way to handle my payments.

Hi, Okay..I don't have PR 2 yet but...I am doing PR 1 w/ 2 sets of kids, older to work through it faster and then my 2 younger that we will take it as slow as we need. Now..the two older, I am wanting to get PR 2 and not get the student sets, Barbara said they could just use notebooks etc...but, what would we be missing? If I decide to get the literature study later does it work like that or is the literature study started in the beginning of PR 2? I don't like feeling like I am missing a big part of something. Barbara had said once they get to level 3 everyone would need their own student kits but to fast pace it through 1 and 2 the older ones just need notebooks. My older ones have not done much composition or literature study so I don't want them missing some good stuff. Kim

Hi, We are just starting Phonics Road 1, do you laminate the markings? I have laminated all the cards, except the blank stuff, I know in the DVD she said to go ahead and put the markings in their envelope but not knowing exactly how they are used yet, not sure if I laminate them? Also..is the social group for PR still active? I am excited about FINALLY making the decision to get going, it is a relief to me as I have been wanting to do Spalding but really felt like for me I needing some help keeping on task, I like the DVD's and taking notes as that really cements things in my mind! I know...Spalding is the method, PR is the "spin off" :lol: (for Ellie...) I have been doing the new WW Plus and have lost 9lbs. I started about a month ago, the first two weeks I lost 3 lbs each week and I used ALL my extra points, the next two weeks, using all the extra points, I lost 1 lb. I have not started exercising yet... I decided that the exercising will wait a bit, it is always stressful trying to figure out when to do that and I NEEDED to start losing sooo.. I like the new system because I seem to use my points on more of the good stuff. Sweets are more points, fruits are 0...so..I eat more fruits and veggies this time. I ALWAYS weigh myself first thing on Monday morning. I do ww at home. I have had to weigh during the day to weigh packages or whatever and I can't believe how much It shows I weigh..wow. With all my clothes on, shoes etc...It adds a lot. I weigh myself in "sort of" the same clothes every monday morning and I don't weigh again, unless I have to to weigh a package. Different scales will weigh differently also... HANG IN THERE!! I am getting started again after having done well with the old program, then had hemmoroid surgery, gained everything back and am ready to go again. Just don't give up...keep on keepin on! I am going to get Preparing but am going to be starting Phonics Road, which will require some time and I just don't know if I can do DITHOR just yet so... You can pretty much pick it up whenever you can it sounds like..that is what I was hoping for. Can anyone compare it to Progeny Press, I guess DITHOR does not have comprehension questions because you can pick your own books. I just don't know if I would like it, I think I want a more "read these pages of this book" and then answer questions etc...with answer keys..ha!
