  1. Everglades National Park, snorkeling in John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park (Key Largo, not far from Miami), Kennedy Space Center, St. Augustine, airboat ride (they have these all over), Honeymoon Island (West coast) I'm sure I'll think of more...
  2. So, will you be staying in the Orlando area (Disney) or traveling around the state?
  3. Do the Sharpie pens bleed through the paper? How are they with smearing? I looked at them the other day but I couldn't decide.
  4. :iagree: Or, if you don't like wool, I recommend Thorlo brand. Best, cushiest socks ever!
  5. :grouphug: Don't get me started on UHC (although, I've heard most health insurance is similar)! We went round & round about my dd's asthma meds a few months ago and finally had to settle for something less effective.
  6. I'm going to add a delegated page. Great idea! I take medication 3 times a day & have for years now. You'd think I wouldn't forget but I do. Great idea! This is brilliant! I so wish I would have done this. My kids are teens now but it still may be worth going back through the records & writing it all in one place. We've moved, changed doctors multiple times, etc, so records are a bit scattered.
  7. We bought goose decoys for Dh one year & flocked our yard Christmas morning. We wrapped a gift with a note in it that said, "Look outside". The neighbors probably had a laugh. Every year I use deceptive wrapping practices. Using larger boxes, adding legos for noise, or this year, wrapping everything in bubble wrap before gift wrap. Ds picked up one of Dh's presents, wrapped with bubble wrap, and said, "Oh, clothes." Nope, that's not it! :D
  8. Are there any changes you plan for your 2015 Bullet Journal? What has worked or not worked for 2014? Any questions for others? (Related threads: Original, Updates, Tasks & design ideas) Best for me: Medical Notes section - At a recent appointment, I was able to go through the history of what we've tried, tests, etc. It was a huge help! Dream Collage 2 page spread - Helps me visualize my long term goals especially when I get discouraged by the daily grind. Record of events & conversations on the daily pages - I refer back to these often. Vacation - Yes, I wrote in it on vacation! I recorded what we did, when, where, etc. Now, I'm making a photo book from vacation photos and have a reference and can add journaling to the photo pages. Books I've read list - I'm an avid reader but have never kept track before. Love this! I could go on & on. Obviously, I'm a fan of the bullet journal method! Struggles for me: Monthly calendars - As a family, we use Google Calendar, a wall calendar (which will be obsolete at the end of this month), and the Bullet Journal calendar. Inevitably, things would get mixed up & I would have two different days/times for the same appointment, etc. Now, I just use Google Calendar and I think I'll keep it that way for 2015.Questions: I'd love tips on overall organization. I'm thinking of having a section at the front or back just for the "Collections" rather than starting a page in the midst of my daily pages. Anybody find a way to combine the GTD system with their bullet journal?
  9. Mine is intense sadness. I felt it this morning during and upon waking from a dream that was not super sad in and of itself. The emotion was way beyond anything I feel while awake & dissipated quickly. I think it's raw emotion that we don't allow ourselves to feel during waking hours. In my case, current events, both global & local, weigh heavily on my mind but I try not to let it get to me. There's nothing I can do and it makes me sad.
  10. I was just thinking about this & how long it would take me to scan all those photos myself. Ugh! It's overwhelming! Thank you for the recommendation.
  11. These are so cute! How long did it take you to complete them? (Wondering if I have time...I really need to stop looking at craft ideas until after Christmas!)
  12. I've started with avoiding added sugar at breakfast because my will power is strongest in the morning. That means no sugar in my coffee and I eat oatmeal with 1/2 cup berries and 1/2 a sliced banana. It was a shocker at first but now I'm finding the banana too sweet so I might drop that, also. With this breakfast, eaten at 6:30 am, I can go until lunch at 11:30-12 ish. Unfortunately, I still struggle with the rest of the day but I definitely don't eat as much sugar throughout the day as I used to. I'll tackle the next phase after New Year's.
  13. Tonight's focus is on getting the USPS boxes (10 of them) out by tomorrow's deadline. I need to: Assemble boxes Wrap the homemade baklava & add to boxes Add other misc small items Make it pretty & seal Add shipping labels Schedule pickup Have a glass of wine & breathe a sigh of relief! There's plenty more to do but I'll think about that tomorrow...
  14. I agree, that was my experience with the regular brine technique. For the record, though, what I call dry brine, he calls "salting" and that did not lead to watered down flavor. This was the first Thanksgiving I did that, spatchcocked the bird, and cooked it at much higher temp. I have no idea which of these methods made it taste so darn good but I plan to experiment with whole chickens to find out. I admit, I'm a kitchen geek! :D
  15. I did the dry brine this year, thanks to WTM forum! It's so much better (and easier) than the liquid brine. Yes! I did this for the first time this year & my family thought I was crazy. That is, until they tasted it! Yummy. Don't brine unless you have a fresh, guaranteed un-processed turkey. We're fortunate to be able to buy ours from a local farm. Also, I found the texture of the meat to be off with the liquid brine. It's so much better with a dry brine. Here's the science behind it: The Food Lab, if you're interested.
  16. Those labels are hilarious! Here's another from the same seller "Made With..." I've definitely felt that way about some projects!
  17. Maybe...I don't know. I love to sew, knit, do all kinds of crafts but I very rarely keep anything. I give them as gifts or for charity events, etc. The things that I keep for myself are the irregulars, with mistakes, that I won't give to others.
  18. I don't know what your price range is, but maybe a quilted tote bag? Everyone can use another tote! Here's a cute one on Etsy.
  19. Falafel waffles are tasty, nice and crispy, and fit perfectly into the pita bread! I really need to try the hash browns because I cannot cook those on the stovetop. I think I'll have "waffled" grilled cheese for lunch tomorrow!
  20. Thanks for the encouragement! The person who made the comment was not a teacher or anyone who had any voice instruction themselves.
  21. Cue the violins: :nopity: When I was in early middle school, I was told after a chorus concert (where I had a solo!) that I couldn't sing well. It most likely was an offhand comment, perhaps not meant the way it sounded. I don't know but I was a moody middle schooler and that was the last year I took chorus. Since then, I've been very self-conscious about my voice but I love to sing. I sing all the time when I'm alone but rarely around others and not even in church. I had this crazy idea recently to try voice lessons. I don't want to sing professionally, just not be embarrassed by my ability to sing, or lack thereof. Can people be taught to sing reasonably well or is it something they're born with?
  22. Someone recently gave us homemade hooch in a mason jar. Yummy! :thumbup1:
