  1. I don't understand that level of inflexibility, either.
  2. Scoutermom - So glad to hear he had a good day and hoping that more follow! 8Fill - :( I hope your Dd feels better soon.
  3. Wow, I'm surprised they won't grant the incomplete. :confused1: I like Janet's PowerPoint & dictation idea if that makes it easier for him.
  4. So, will they let him have the extra 3 weeks? It must be so nerve wracking being right up against the graduation deadline. It sounds like your DS is a real trooper, though.
  5. :grouphug: We are going through something similar right now, except my dd is a junior. I wanted you to know that you're not alone. It's been tough, watching her suffer, the stress of not knowing what's the cause, dealing with the medical red tape, the disappointments, etc. This week I'm meeting with teachers about incompletes and possible alternate assignments. At her school, the AP test is not mandatory and she's opted not to take it. Unfortunately, she'll have to make all of this up in the Fall so her senior year will not be as expected and that, of course, affects her college plans. I wish I had some advice but we're still in the midst of this crisis. I just keep telling myself that we'll get through it eventually. Hang in there.
  6. Thank you for sharing your story. What a horrible experience. :(
  7. Well, dd is 26 hours post puncture and headache is the same as it was before, no better, no worse, thank goodness! They told her to be a couch potato the rest of the day, drink lots of water, and eat salty foods. She had it done at a local hospital by the Chief of Radiology and there were no issues at all.
  8. Thanks for sharing. The doctor told us that if she gets a headache to drink lots of water & some caffeine, If it's not better by the next day, have the blood patch done. I think he wants us to be prepared.
  9. Thank you all! I've read some stories where people are out of commission for more than a week with headache/backache.
  10. Do you have an experience to share? Specifically, did you get the dreaded headache and how long did it last? If no headache, were you able to resume activities the next day?
  11. Lollie, hoping your daughter's appointment went well and she's on her way to feeling better.
  12. Wow, thanks for posting! I'm currently in school for Web Development so I'll definitely keep an eye on the PowerToFly site.
  13. Wear a clean shirt (washed in hot water) every day and to sleep at night.
  14. Is it a 3rd party app? My first guess would be malware or virus or whatever that found your dog's name in the data of the phone, maybe in a previous text. I dunno. I'm sure there's a rational explanation but my first thought would have been, "Poltergeist!!"
  15. Yep, working on file clutter. I went through some last week and will do again this week. (Where does all this paper come from?!) Our community is having a shredding event in April & we're allowed to shred 2 banker's boxes worth for free. That's my goal! Also, finished the taxes last week. Yuck.
  16. I have struggled with this same thing. Good luck. The other problem is that a doctor, specialist, technician, etc, may perform a function during surgery but they aren't contracted under your health plan. It ends up as a surprise bill later. I've asked how to avoid this in the future & got shoulder shrugs from everyone. Next time I have surgery, I'm going to use a Sharpie marker on my skin saying, "DO NOT touch me unless you take XYZ Insurance!"
  17. Yes, she should qualify for a temporary tag and I can't believe they didn't give you one. Dh had one both times after hip surgery. He was walking 3 weeks after surgery both times but the doc was insistent that we have it "just in case".
  18. Do you have a system? My email inboxes were way out of control when I heard about "Zero Inbox". I'm still working on the "Zero" part but I've come a long way! Here's a link: zero inbox.
  19. I forgot to say that we found some hidden Christmas presents this weekend by decluttering! Dh came racing in from cleaning the garage so excited about the new gloves he found and how they FIT PERFECTLY! He could tell by my reaction that it was a hidden gift I had bought for him. No, I didn't start shopping early, it was from last year. There were also some ear muffs for dd. I totally forgot about them! When I cleaned out my sewing closet, I found hidden Christmas candy! That was a nice chocolate surprise and a great reward for cleaning my closet. :thumbup1:
  20. Our Children's Hospital is local for us but I noticed that they have nearby hotels listed on their website that offer a discount to patient families. The other good thing is that if there's additional testing required, it may be a matter of walking over to the appropriate department. No call, schedule, wait, come back another day, etc. During dd's appointment, the doctor sent a message to another specialist who dropped by the exam room within a few minutes. It was all so efficient. At least, that was our experience. :grouphug: PS. My dd had a bloodtest done for lupus today because of this thread. She's been having issues and for some reason this test wasn't done with the last two rounds of bloodwork. I mentioned it to one of her doctors (recently took over dd's primary care) this morning who agreed that she be screened and was surprised it hadn't been done yet.
  21. That is tough, but even a closet office space can be very useful so hopefully, that works out. Early on in my classes, I had to schedule library time for myself because there were too many distractions at home. It became a standard Saturday morning thing for a while and even occasionally on a weeknight. My kids are teens and I was only homeschooling one at the time, so not as needy as littles, but still highly distracting. Also, I needed my husband to take over chauffeur duty because they're not independent drivers yet.
  22. I am so thankful to have that space! I've spent years sewing at the dining room table and having supplies all over the house wherever I could squeeze them in. That's why it's so important to me to have an organized clutter free space that I can be creative and work efficiently in. I highly recommend having an organized, designated work space when you start classes. I've been taking classes and, again, worked at the dining room table for quite a while. I finally got a small cheap desk to tuck into the corner of the living room and I can focus so much better. It's almost like my brain goes into "work mode" when I sit down at a real desk. I understand your overwhelm. I need to figure out something with my photos. I'm thinking of scanning them all & making some bound photo books. I'm not really ready to think too much about this yet, though.
  23. Yesterday, I worked on my sewing area. I struggle with sewing but really enjoy the process and learning new techniques. Unfortunately, I hung on to all the failed projects and unfinished projects and it was making me feel bad. I didn't realize that until yesterday. Letting all that stuff go was very freeing. I have a corner of our basement and the associated closet as my sewing space. I pulled everything out of the closet and got to work. (1st pic) I repurposed some shelving for the closet, purged, and organized. I still have to go through the other two sets of drawers and I think I'll be able to get rid of another one. (2nd & 3rd pic) I also need to take a serious pass at my fabric stash. The last photo is my donation, recycle, and trash pile! Yay!! [emoji2] Up for this week: continue sewing area declutter & taxes.
