  1. We are looking at University of Northern Colorado (in Greeley) for their Performing Arts program. I'm not familiar with their Fine Arts program, though. I'm not even familiar with Greeley but we are going for a visit next month.
  2. Yep. Dd got her license a few days ago & I'm a nervous wreck, also! :svengo: I've told her that she has limited range while driving alone right now until she gets more experience, especially with certain routes and situations. It's a compromise that works for both of us.
  3. I had a store bra fitter say something about having to buy more bras after I give birth. Ummm...not pregnant. :glare:
  4. I struggle with these types of questions, also. I'd like to pare down the paper clutter but often feel like I HAVE to keep receipts, documents, manuals, etc.
  5. I'm having trouble hearing what people are saying if there's any background noise. I went to an ENT and had the hearing test done but he said I was fine. ?? I still have to ask people to repeat themselves all.the.time.
  6. That's awesome! :hurray: I agree with a previous poster about not worrying about the weight. Definitely do whatever you can to strengthen & stretch your leg muscles, though. Maybe even visit a physical therapist for specific exercises. Do you have a link to the virtual thru hike? It sounds interesting.
  7. So glad you were there and able to help her! :hurray: I know exactly how you feel. When my son was 3, I walked into a room & he was standing there with a panicked look on his face. I knew he had just eaten a piece of hard candy. I asked him if he was choking and he couldn't talk, so I grabbed him & did the Heimlich but it didn't work. I told him sorry because I knew I was going to have to do it much harder & I was afraid of breaking some ribs. It worked the second time. Out popped the candy & we both sat crying for a while. It's very emotional, even now 12 years later. I'm so grateful that I was in the right place at the right time and could do what was needed.
  8. This is fabulous! I've only finished the study through the Prelude but I did watch Act 1. There are so many details that I would never have picked up on my own. Thank you! My observations so far: Everything sounds better in Italian, I prefer the Prelude performed by the German orchestra (sounds more dramatic to me), and now I can understand the nuances of the music and the performance.
  9. I agree with others that he should not wait 2 weeks to see a doctor. When my ds was 9, I took him to the doctor because he kept falling asleep in the car. The doc initially thought I was crazy but it turns out he had pneumonia. A round of antibiotics and he was back to his old energizer bunny self.
  10. I am so very sorry for your loss. Many hugs and prayers for you and your family.
  11. We use a Capital One account for teenagers. It's worked out very well.
  12. I may just do that!! I need to think about it, though, cause I've got a million things going on. But, really, I've been wanting to take one of their classes for 15 years but haven't because there's ALWAYS a million things going on. Maybe I should just go for it! :D
  13. My teen boy had this issue & his doc recommended eating healthy snacks more frequently. It worked for him. He's growing like a weed right now and just needs more sleep and more food or he feels crummy.
  14. Which one will you be taking? I've thought of signing up for one of their classes. Please be sure to keep us posted!
  15. Many hugs and prayers. And congratulations!
  16. I know you specified online, but we used Mastering Essential Math Skills for Ds one summer as remediation. If he was stuck on a concept, then he would look up that particular lesson on Khan Academy to figure it out. There were some holes in his math education and doing this gave him a solid base for pre-Algebra.
  17. So glad today was a better day and that the lack of Honors invitation was a simple mistake! I'm really impressed that he continues to get such good grades even when he's so sick. Great job!
  18. I'm hoping your Ds feels better with the new med and you can get some answers from the ENT. For my Dd, the teachers have some leeway with homework, tests, and reporting. She'll get incompletes in her AP English and Adv. Pre-calc but when they need to be made up, the workload will be modified. They'll focus more on the tests and less or not at all on the daily assignments. In Anat & Physio class, the teacher is grading her based on the work she's already completed and exempting the rest since she's done more than 75% of the work. We are still waiting to hear about the other classes. I mention this because maybe, in your son's case, they could reduce the number of papers he needs to write or the daily work for physics. That would allow him to focus on tests and the papers critical for learning the concepts so that he can graduate on time. You may have to really push the counselors, teachers, and administration. Their goal really should be to help your son succeed and graduate despite this life-changing medical event. Having a sick child and the inflexibility of the school with upcoming graduation makes for a very stressful situation. Hang in there. :grouphug:
