  1. Others have given wonderful advice, and I wish you the best as you try to navigate this difficult situation. I also suggest that you start a new thread asking for suggestions for dealing with RLS. I am sure others here have dealt with that and have good suggestions.
  2. Does a belt not fix the first dress? Keep the maxi dress. Don't be resentful; they sent you something you really like. Happy accident. I would also keep the denim jacket unless you actually dislike it. It sounds like you mostly want it for practical reasons and it will serve those. My second fix was better than my first. You can exchange if something is just the wrong size.
  3. I have planned in pencil and with Homeschool Planet. Planning in pen would be a disaster. This is the first week of school and I've already made changes to the first and second week's plan. Homeschool Planet makes it really easy. Last year I got behind with planning and never could catch up. We hobbled through doing the next thing. But this year I input a basic plan for the entire year before we started and am feeling great about this year's plan.
  4. Tracfone is the way to go then. They do show a flip phone for my area.
  5. When you say she misses the cut-off by 10 days, do you mean if she were 10 days older she could start? In that case, you would not be red-shirting, because according to the state she should start K at almost 6.
  6. Consumer Cellular has reasonable plans and flip phones available. https://www.consumercellular.com/Products
  7. https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/10394171?sod=w&som=c This is my referral link. Feel free to use it or not. Stitch Fix is a fun, non-overwhelming way to build up your wardrobe. The stylist will focus on what you say you need right now. I have really enjoyed my two fixes so far. I am receiving quarterly fixes, but if I were building a work wardrobe, I would get fixes monthly for a while.
  8. In my opinion, crown prep is the worst of routine dental procedures. She'll need to be sedated like before.
  9. https://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?39944-2017-Recommended-Car-Seats-List-Community-Top-Rated-Picks Here are the latest recommended seats from car-seat.org. Look in the Combinations/Harnessed Booster section for your 3 year old. Is your 5 year old's booster adjusted to its tallest height setting? I've noticed a lot of parents don't realize that the TurboBooster can be made taller. If the existing booster is outgrown, your only options are backless or to buy a taller booster.
  10. My understanding is that seat belts are sufficient to save lives, but car seats prevent injury. I'd like my kids protected from injury too. Unless said 6 year old is tiny or will have difficulty staying sitting correctly, I think a booster is fine. Car seats can be installed with seat belts though and sometimes it is easier to get everyone buckled with harnessed seats.
  11. I voted that I don't have a "significant" amount of grey hair. It's probably 2-5%.
  12. It depends on the state. In TN, Kindergarten is required so record it officially. Otherwise if something happened and your kid had to go to school they would have to start kindergarten.
  13. We've tried Artistic Pursuits and Home Art Studio. We prefer Home Art Studio.
  14. What part bugs you the most right now? For me it's the planning and the shopping, so I'm trying Terra's Kitchen. If it's the shopping, try Walmart grocery pick-up if it's available where you live. I've been buying prepackaged fruits and less is wasted. Ask everyone in the house what they want added to the grocery list, so then the house will be stocked with what people are in the mood for. Buy deli meat and cheese for easy varied sandwiches. Frozen hamburger patties can be quick cooked in a skillet in convenient quantities by anyone who can be trusted for that.
  15. I love my mother dearly, but I couldn't quit my family to be a full time caretaker. I would be looking for other arrangements here. My daughter enjoyed Mystery Science, although she went through it quickly.
  16. My midwife looked at me at my annual checkup 4 months after my oldest was born and told me I was not ok and sent me around the corner for immediately bloodwork. My TSH came back as 92. I had gained 20lbs in the few weeks between my 6 week checkup and this one. I had no energy, but I thought it was from adjusting to new baby and lack of sleep.
  17. Ours is tidy at the moment. I successfully kept it clean for a period of about 2 months earlier this year, but I slacked off on making sure every. single. thing. is cleared out of the car every day. When the kids were younger, it was always a disaster. We would clean it out about every 6 months, typically clearing 3 garbage 30 gal bags full of mostly Sunday School papers.
  18. I definitely don't agree with the let them fight it out plan. I listen in on my kids play and immediately correct anytime I hear: a sibling speaking meanly to the other, a physical attack or fight, or one grabbing something from another. When one child comes to me with a complaint I start by asking them what they did and they usually self-report something wrong that they did too. I go and ask them about what they should do instead. Two rules at my house are that when a toy is a problem, the toy goes in time out, and no one is required to play anything they don't want to. Most of the time, I just talk to my kids about better choices for next time. A few times, one of my kids gets into a bad pattern of doing something they know they shouldn't, and I've had to implement consequences to deal with it.
  19. I think the 4th grader should go, but I would make sure she knows that the parents make the decisions about school. That even if she likes school, you may homeschool again in the future. It sounds like you have a great school. If school works better than homeschool for your family now, that's ok. Children learn the most important things by watching their parents, however they get their academics.
  20. If you are in a hot sellers market either ceiling will be fine, but I doubt I would bother to finish the basement for the purpose of selling. If the sellers market is hot now, sell now before that changes.
  21. It hasn't been consistent for me. DH typically gets a bonus in March, of which we've put an extra $500-$1500 into the school category depending on what I was wanting to buy that year. We also budget $130 monthly. So that's $2,000 to $3,000 annually for three kids. Supplemental academic classes are included in this number, but extracurriculars like dance and swimming are budgeted separately. I found Math Mammoth early on so I've had math easily covered for a while.
  22. I have 20 tabs open right now. Much more than that and I can't tell what they all are. Out of sight, out of mind is a terrible problem for me. A paper sitting on my desk or in an open tab is probably 1000 times more likely to be dealt with than something I have put away somewhere. On my phone, I simply use one page at a time. There might be multiple tabs open, but they are useless because they don't show.
  23. I have that problem sometimes, but I live close to a different time zone. My sister worked in a different time zone and sometimes had to manually force the change.
  24. I got some ideas from http://chachingonashoestring.com/tag/subscribe-save/ .
  25. You really want the average of my kids? Because they varied greatly. Their average doesn't represent any of them. I'll wait for an answer before answering the poll. ETA: one late 4, one late 7, one after 8. average 6.7 years
