  1. $3000 a month? If you cant live on that then perhaps your not living within your means. We live on 1/3 of that (thats including what we get in SNAP) and we all have special dietary needs. If its just no processed food then that means a cheaper food bill because everything is cooked from scratch. We dont run a/c because we cant afford it even when its 100 outside. Use fans, thermal curtians, open windows at night for cool air. Go to public places to cool down if you need to. We dont even have internet at home right now because were putting every penny into moving into the city next week (finally!) Which will cut our bills about $200 mo plus food bill will go down with access to many stores and city prices. Anyway when we do we have netflix and hulu, no cable, no landline and the lowest internet package we can get away with. Clothes come from thrift stores except for under things and shoes. Kids coats come from ebay. I coupon, I stockpile during sales. If housing is eating up so much then move. Car payments? Sale and buy an older but good car outright. Cell phones dont need to be fancy with expensive data plans. Prepaid phones are often cheaper then contract and work just as well. I would feel stinkin rich if I had $3k month to work with.
  2. Anyone know how an introverted aspie with an attitude problem would do?
  3. As they say, when you know better you do better. There is no reason to circ a baby. Look at it this way, if you wouldnt circ your daughter why would you circ your son?
  4. Not really, K12 itself is doing away with textbooks from 3rd on up and going digital. They changed a couple courses too so they no longer line with with last years hard copy stuff.
  5. Theres a PF Changs in Spokane?! Thats my fav place! Havent eaten there since we moved up here over a year ago. A friend is taking me out to dinner and he always lets me pick, were running over to Spokane lol!
  6. Unless you hit menopause really early or are having horrific symptoms that natural stuff isnt helping I would not take it. I was on it in my early 20s due to premature menopause and it was something I really struggled with but when the wild yam stopped controling the night sweats and hot flashes/mood swings I opted to go on it. Im dreading going through it again, had a couple hot flashes this month and i'd forgotten how unpleasent they can be. For those wondering I was dx'd post menopausal at the ripe old age of 19 and they couldnt figure out why. My body just refused to produce estrogen, turned out to be celiac causing it. Went GF without realizing it (long story) and 6 weeks later I found myself pregnant lol THAT was a huge surprise! My Dr wouldnt even believe I was pregnant until I showed him the sonogram from the OB. When I told him he said it was impossible:)
  7. Good to see it has some redeeming qualities, I catch the Spokane news once in a while at work and all they talk about is crime:( If your up for a short drive CDA has Silverwood and a huge indoor water park. All I know about Spokane is they have a Trader Joes lol
  8. Please keep in mind most homeless avoid the shelters if they can, they are loud, not safe and your stuff gets stolen. Not to mention the way many are run you cant hold a job and stay at a shelter because you have to be there by x time and it can be hard to get from work to the shelter then get out again in time to get to work. I know the shelters we looked at even meals were served elsewhere and you were bussed over. Makes for a very long day with little restful sleep. I would take the car or campground over a shelter which is actually what we chose because shelters are no place for SN kids.
  9. I havent had cable in years but I'm at work doing an overnight (its about 10pm) and my client is out cold so I've been quietly flipping channels for 2 hours. I am bored out of my mind! 90%+ have been reality shows which bore me. 5% stuff from the 50s and then a mix of sports/news/south park/Arrow. Tomorrow night I will make it a point to come in early so I can get the wifi password from the lobby lol at least then I can watch netflix on my phone. I was thinking maybe I was missing some good stuff but it looks its all available online anyway so why waste my money? So outside of sports and reality tv junkies, why do you pay for cable?
  10. Sounds like Celiac which can also cause chronic pancretitis. It can be missed on biopsy and blood tests can be wrong. In these cases a gf trial is the only option. I hope she feels better quickly!
  11. When I bake I usually double, triple or even quadruple to freeze and bake. I've tried toaster ovens and it was a disaster with GF baked stuff. Im usually baking a half or 3/4 sheet pan so not small amounts. I've eyed commercial multirack ovens on craigslist lol. A girl can dream... I miss having decent stoves/ovens. Yes, I cook, a lot. From scratch 3x a day due to allergy issues. Although the cost of energy up here is high enough its curbing my baking habits.
  12. I've never seen one in a thrift store and have no idea what store might sell them. It seems all stoves here (electric, no gas on this side of the state) only come with 1 rack. Every stove I have ever had till we got here came with at least 2 racks. I do a lot of baking and its costing a lot more only being able to bake 1 tray at a time. Electric is freaking expensive here! Racks can not be that expensive and it would help shave money off by cutting running time in half, I dread another winter here and the electric bill:(
  13. How do you feel about them moving to ebooks for most books 3rd grade and up? While im happy I dont need to store tons of stuff i'm not happy we cant just grab our books and go. We dont have a laptop and were rural so wifi is not every where.
  14. The company I work for has been brought in to help pick up the slack for companionship care duties in an assisted living place. I could really use the hours but I need to buy scrubs. How much do they usually cost? How do they fit? Normally its slacks and blouse and working in private homes. I will check the thrift stores too since im pretty sure Good will should have them but i've got short legs so I may need to buy new, do they even come in petite? I dont have access to any sewing anything right now.
  15. I love Costco but be aware they may not have the same item next time you go.
  16. We've had issues in the past with stuff not getting scanned back in and I end up with late fees and once I even had to pay for a book grrr. So I make sure to watch them scan back in. Today we went to the little local library, we were the only ones there and had about 20 items to check back in and I needed to you guessed it, find out what library a book we returned came out of because it was still saying checked out. I hadnt even gotten that far though, I just told her we've had issues with books being reshelved and not scanned. She acted like that NEVER happens. She huffed and finally scanned our books in then I asked her out the missing book. Turns out it came from that library (we request a lot plus go to 2 libraries in other cities) so she checked the shelf and bingo! She checked it back in. It wasnt late or anything but this is not the first time its happened. She didnt even applogise. Has anyone else ever had issues with getting them to check your books in while you wait? The other one we go to about half hour from here wont even check out your new ones until they check in what you returned.
  17. Depends on the child, I went from LAX to Germany alone to visit family when I was barely 15. It went fine even though I was bored out of my mind on the flight. My oldest kiddo (14 in 2 weeks) I dont see being ready, I dont even want her on the bus alone though. Way to immature.
  18. The texture of the big loaves is different, much softer. Im guessing its modified tapioca (think expandex). I wont buy the smaller loafs anymore, freaking rip off and most of the time they are filled with huge holes. Costco is way cheaper when you break the price down for a better product.
  19. You will be fine! 205 is a lot of space and can house a family long term even. You will only be sleeping there, not living there.
  20. Because of all the germs. Unless the kid is dying or running to the bathroom every 5 minutes they want them there. All the kids are always sick.
  21. *grumble* really hit home today that we would need to give up some services if she goes to school or she would need to miss a lot of school for services. Best solution is back to k12 but since we have dxs and support in place we may get someone to come in and do the school work with her for 15-30hrs a week which I can live with. dd8 is not happy to hs this year but I will make it a point to find friends for her. Not sure what to do about income, dd14 says to just babysit. Think im going to be a bit busy for that.
  22. Those are pretty! Much better then the ugly white I got. I need to replace a few panels after stupidly machine washing them. Im adding those to the tax return spending list. Thanks!
  23. Nope, maybe $50 tops to build and stain, I know the foam bottom is only $20 at Fred Meyer and I can get the fabric with a 50% off coupon from the fabric store or a thrift store find. Even a high thread count sheet could be used for the fabric and still look nice. Back pillows are an easy thrift store find for less then $20 total new at craft store with coupon. $100 tops, $150 if I needed to pay retail for everything. One thing I know how to do is shop for the best deals:)
