These three problems or so were in addition to your other curricula, correct? We are currently waiting for BA Online. My son is going through some old SM IP workbook, Sunshine Math, past University of Waterloo problem of the week problems, while also working on his multiplication facts on XtraMath. He has always had trouble with speed. He is not terribly slow, but I know it will help if he becomes quicker. This I am sure this is part of his dyslexia (working memory issue). I guess what I am asking is what’s enough and what is too much? Sometimes I can overdo things in a fear that I will be letting him down if I don't provide enough instruction/structure/challenge. Other times it is him diving the cart faster than I’d like.

Almost 8 year old - What to do with her?
arliemaria replied to scbusf's topic in Accelerated Learner Board
Will she listened to audiobooks/podcasts? That plus a library card are essentials in our home. We visit multiple libraries multiple times a week. We have a huge list of books to be checked out. We request books through our state library system at one branch and do our interlibrary loans at another branch. That helps a lot with my 9 year old. For my suspected (untested) highly gifted/ highly creative five year old daughter we have to keep a large supply of craft/art supplies available and accessible. Does your daughter have any areas of deep interest? My son has had a insatiable interest in all things mechanical since he was about 2 years old. -
I bought the book after hearing you all mention it. I bought the laminate balance and the little manipulatives. Robby did level 1 app in the winter, but I can’t quite understand the book. This shows my poor math abilities. Could someone walk me through the first couple problems? I think that would help me a lot in introducing the book to him. Thanks in advance!

I have heard of Clover Creek Physics, but I am unsure what Dicentra’s class is. Would you mind sharing? I am a bit lost about science plans for next year. I think we might sign up for a co-op for enrichment. One of the classes offered is a science fair advisory. He is still working on his turbine. He has had trouble with his bridge rectifier. This plus hopefully getting a more mentor relationship with local professor help fill the science spot, but his projects are always on-going and I need something else. Maybe spend the year on astronomy and draw lots of star charts. This seems basic to me, but I am sure we can find some topic to delve into. I will try to get a plan together soon to post, but open to ideas. -

We use many different maths. I do some daily during the day and my husband uses a different source in the evening. My dh wants to use an old second edition 5/4 book my with our ds. This Saxon 5/4 book seemed very simple. Is this placement test available online? -
This pdf has a list of all the topics with sources from past years. Based on the past rotations would I be correct in saying that next year the theme would be Underworld?

We got our results yesterday. Robby got a gold medal. He was so excited! He kept telling me he knew all the answers after he finished the exam, but I didn't know what to expect.

Report of Test Results- Is This Normal?
arliemaria replied to terrikuns's topic in Accelerated Learner Board
Our son did major testing a little over a year ago. WISC-V, achievement, about five different language tests. I have a binder of paperwork from the school! If you aren't satisfied with the information you received I would call and talk to the psych or tester and ask questions. They should have the information you are looking for. -
I think we might be about 6 months or so behind you, so I am definitely following to see how you proceed with Sacha. We are currently using HOE Verbal Word Problems and these have been really good. Does he free read math books? I am about to buy the LoF Pre-A books. There are two different Pre-A sets of LoF. One is just Pre-A (but includes a Physics book, Biology, and Econ) the second is called Pre-A Zillions for extra practice.

We are on a Thurber kick. Thirteen Clocks, The White Deer, The Wonderful O, The Tiger Who Would Be King (short picture book). Also just requested Roald Dahl's Gremlins from the library after we watched Nightmare at 20,000 Feet Twilight Zone last night. -
I would like to hear the other narrator just because I am intrigued, but my heart is sad. I honestly can't believe that so many of you dislike Weiss. We love his audio stories!
