  1. How is everyone near the fire doing? I hope everyone is safe. I am about 180 miles northwest of Cheyenne and we can see the smoke here and smell it. We are on a fire restriction here for sure. They are pretty worried about all this beetle killed pine and super dry grass, brush, etc.
  2. Wanted to bring this thread back alive. I was over at homeschool share and they have a wonderful bucket list for the kids. Now I know on this board we can really make an awesome bucket list for this summer. Right?:D
  3. For me yes it is worth the drive. Now where I live Walmart is that far away too so for me it is a one trip and get everything needed. I would get it for one year and see how you like it. The membership fees are not expensive anyways, $40 for one year no big deal. Then you have a year to decide if you want to do it again or if it was not worth it to you.
  4. I was looking at the sample lesson for grade 3 on the OM site. Now I have some questions. There are no worksheets for math or an actual math curriculum? Do you just jot down math problems for children to do? No history or science spines? Is that the information needed to teach all subjects in the main book? Is it enough information in your opinion or do you/I need to add to that to make it complete? What are the weaknesses of this program in your opinion? What are the strengths of this program in your opinion? Thank you for your help.
  5. I second this. The program might seem too light at first, but give it a chance honestly it has been the best math program we have used yet. I did make the mistake of dropping it once thinking we were not doing enough, but boy was I wrong. My little man absorbed it all and we switched back and he is still doing awesome.
  6. I voted a mix. I have lots of cast iron from baking to frying pans. All of them are Lodge brand and I love them. I use my stainless steel for boiling water, soups and such. I have the Rachel Ray brand on those.
  7. Oh yes! I could so go for the grunge 90's again. Now my daughter is big on the 80's look. She has all the neon, high top odd colored shoes, checkered hoodies, tight jeans some with and without holes. The whole look minus the poofy hair. Now she was sporting a half side ponytail the other day. I wanted to cry.:lol:
  8. I have the 6qt pro line one and love it. The out of pocket $100 would be well worth it.
  9. I only buy used if it will save me tons and it really depends on the condition and who is selling it (been burned a few too many times). Like if it is only a TE no I won't buy it, since it will cost me to get the other resources and shipping it usually ends up not being worth it. So, for the most part I buy new saves me the hassle later on. It all shows up at once, I know the condition will be usable, and saves me time.
  10. Don't forget that your family seems to have turned into a herd of elephants. That maybe if I shave my head bald there won't be so much weight on it. But then you realize the shaver will kill your ears and then thinking you have to move and be in light takes that thought away. That the beat of your heart is so loud and the pounding in your head you keep thinking of new ways to stop both. During a migrane your list sounds perfectly rational to me.
  11. I feel for you on the headaches. I recently went to the doctor for mine. He put me on a daily med so it helps keep them at bay. In the last 30 days I have had two mild headaches. Which is awesome because i was spending at least three to four days a week with a headache. Would love to see pictures of that dress it sounds beautiful.
  12. I would not lie that is for sure. Thank you for the advice. I will do as you said be nice and tell all so there is nothing hidden that will come back on us. References will not be a problem. I can give personal, business, and references from bills etc. I will cross my fingers and hope for the best.
  13. I have never signed a lease. All rentals I have rented have been verbal of x amount for rent due at the beginning of the month, you pay utilities etc. This home I am looking at requires a one year lease. I have no problem with that, since I will know I will have a home for one year for sure. Now I found a place I really really like. It is not where we wanted to go, it is closer to this home not his work. Anyways the rent is $700 a month on a 3 bedroom, 1.75 bath, 2 car attached garage, large fenced lot. I really really want it! Great price and all. So now to my questions, what all do that look for? We are in the process of fixing our credit, he has two more payments of his collection items and he will be debt free. Now mine is another story I have years and years to go. We are not married so he will be the main applicant. So my question for you is do I have to be a co applicant or just another resident of the house? My credit will really really effect our out come on this home. Next question is on the application it asks have you ever been convicted of a felony. Well he has been but it has been over 15 years now and has not been in any trouble besides a few traffic tickets since. Will that effect us? Or will they take in consideration he has been on the right track for years? Also we have animals, a small dog and a cat (who spends 98% of the time outside). I fear that the animal thing will effect us, but I cannot give up my animals. I would even offer them to see the home I am in now if that would help the process of me having my animals.:D We will have the present landlord reference of us living here for almost 8 years, rent always paid on time every month, we have made improvements to the home, etc. I just really am wondering what to expect. This is through a rel estate company who manages properties for people. If that helps you in helping me know what to expect. Thank you for all your help and suggestions.
  14. I love endless.com you get free over night shipping and free two day shipping. Returns are super easy.
  15. Well I make mine earn time for such things. They have to read a book to gain time. But they are limited to 1 hour a day for weekdays and weekends they can get up to 2 hours. For my little buy it is 1 book for each hour. My older ones have to read a few chapters or a small chapter book.
  16. Saratoga, Wyoming and we are at $2.99 right now. Lowest we have been in a very long time.
  17. http://www.knowledgequestmaps.com/Globalmania.html Just passing this on.
  18. Now someone told me there is an app for the ipad to get flash, they could be wrong though. Right now we have a Samsung Galaxy tab. Things I love easy of use, light portable, connects to the internet way faster than my laptop, all sites i use for school work on it. One thing that I wish I would have thought of would be bigger screen. Ours is just the 7" and I should have went with the 10". Problem with the small screen is you have to blow up stuff very very often to even read it if your are on the web. Even some pdfs I do also. But overall it has been great.
  19. I just ordered GWG last night, hopefully it is a good fit too.
  20. I got level 1 to start off with. The lessons are short, sweet, simple and straight to the point. The exact way we like it. We are not super far through the program yet, but so far I love the way concepts are explained. They are explained in a way the child 'gets it'. Not all dry and boring. I will give a better review the further along we get.
  21. My son loves www (winning with writing). He will do 3 or more lessons a day and not complain one bit. He loves it! Just had to share our new love.
  22. I drive by those all the time on the way to a friends house. We would need something with a yard for my wonderful dog. Wheatland is too far if we are trying to be closer to his work. We might just have to suck it up and fix this house. Thanks for all the input.
  23. Honestly it really depends, but most of the time it is a topic not the poster.
