  1. I just replaced my Acer 10.1 with an Acer 11.6. I love it. The screen size is perfect. I installed Fedora on it and it loads quickly. I haven’t messed with the Windows portion.
  2. DH and DD have taken up archery together. They also watch scary movies together.
  3. When DH and I married in 1997 (I was 20, he was 19), my mom had to check us in. I believe we stayed at a newer Hilton. DH works in hospitality and he says some places are more strict about than others. He also says that sometimes, depending on the hotel, location, and the manager, it's left up to the clerk's discretion.
  4. 2 lbs. hamburger (not the leanest, I think I buy the 80/20 or 85/15) caramelized onion a bunch of roasted garlic, I use a whole bulb salt, pepper Italian bread crumbs 2 eggs balsamic vinegar (a lot) catsup mozzarella (I get the ones in the deli seasoned and shaped like marbles) Mix all that thoroughly and shape into the pan and tuck in any visible mozzarella balls. In a bowl, mix more balsamic and catsup. Add enough balsamic to substantially darken and thin the catsup. Put over the meatloaf. Back on 350-375 for about 45 minutes or so. These make awesome sandwiches. Mix a little balsamic and catsup, spread on top of the slice of meat and put in the broiler. Mmmm.
  5. I lived in Houston for nearly 7 years. It took me over 5 to like it enough. What was absolutely necessary for me to like it though, was living close to where DH worked so we didn't have to deal with the traffic issue that much. We lived on the west side, at the toll way and 10. Can't help you with the weather, though. It is an absolutely wonderful day in San Antonio today.
  6. Me, too. I still keep my Captivate on my night stand. I had it for two years before I replaced with the Note a couple weeks ago.
  7. It's when you break the limitations and restrictions that the phone company or manufacturer put on it.
  8. Well, Androids are good for people who like to fiddle with stuff like that. I've never felt the need to Jailbreak either of my Androids, but now that I have my new one, I'm going to mess around with my old one. It's absolutely not necessary, but fun for techie folks who want to see how far they can take the software. As for updates, I thought iphones needed those. My dd's old iphone certainly did.
  9. I'd go play with the iphone and the new Galaxy SIII. Both will have you need. I don't know when the Note 2 comes out. Two years ago, it took me forever to decide between the iphone and the Galaxy SI. I can't remember why I ultimately chose the Galaxy, but I've never regretted it. It's so easy to customize it your needs.
  10. I gave dd (13, then) a choice. She chose to split them up. But, she also read the second part the next day, so we watched 2 the night after 1.
  11. That and Passover. Even if I could believe in a supernatural deity, I'd probably shop for a nicer one.
  12. In my early 20s, when I started studying Buddhism, I believed that Jesus was probably just a Buddhist and people misunderstood all the God talk.
  13. I can't quite remember the red sauce one I used to make. I don't make it anymore because everyone requests a sour cream based one around here. I know it had tomato sauce and I'd puree some onion and peppers. I know it had a lot of cilantro. For the sour cream one, it's easy. It's just a big tub of sour cream mixed with a can of tomatillo sauce, poured over the enchiladas, then I add queso blanco on top. Then I drizzle a little bit of another can of tomatillo sauce on top. Doesn't take long in the oven. I put it over chicken and caramelized onion enchiladas. I really love the tomatillo sauces better. I don't think I've eaten red sauce enchiladas since I've had it.
  14. We bought a knock-off at Overstock about 3 years ago. I think we paid around $250 for it. We don't find it hot. It does muffle movement (sometimes when my youngest crawls in bed with me I don't wake up and I'm not a heavy sleeper unless DH is off). We have a queen on a low platform. I only feel him shift because of the movement of the blankets and he sleeps pretty close to me. It took about a week to get used to. I'm also surprised that for the price, there aren't body shaped indents on the mattress. The middle feels a little firmer, but you can't tell by looking at it.
  15. The only things I wouldn't give up for my Galaxy Note are my children, possibly my husband, and maybe the cats.
  16. Love the Lemony Snicket quote: "It has always been my belief that people who spend too much time with my work end up as lost souls, drained of reason, who lead lives of raving emptiness and occasional lunatic violence. What a relief it is to see this documented."
  17. We had a 'Wildlife' class in high school. We learned to hold a rifle and we watched deer hunting videos. DH has a gun that he goes to shoot at a range when he goes back home. Sometimes he brings it back with him, but he never has ammunition. He buys it and uses it all at the range. It took him several years for him to understand (because he's so good with a gun), why we can't have a loaded weapon at home. I'm not him. I would never be able to safely use it. No matter how good a shot I could be at the range doesn't translate to how I'm going to behave under pressure. I freak out very easily. I'd be the type to put a hand over my eyes and let loose. I'm not proud of that, but there it is. He doesn't hunt either. Hunting down here translates to sitting up in a deer stand waiting for the deer to come get the feed. There's usually a lot of beer involved. They really should call it something else. All you have to do is go to my FIL's FB page and see why America might have the reputation we do. He has an absolute b0n3r for the 2nd Amendment.
  18. This one's kind of hard. If we go from when I got the engagement ring, it would be nine months. If we go from when I told him we were getting married (he agreed) then 26 mos. We were still in high school for the latter and couldn't afford an engagement ring, though he did get me a cute little sapphire ring the same month we got together.
  19. I'm sort of obsessed with pixie cuts. I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to them. I got one 3 years ago and I haven't looked back. I actually think it's even more versatile because when my hair was longer I mostly wore it up. As for my daughter, I'd say nearly 3/4 of her head is shaved, but the top is still there. She can fake a pixie cut from the front. And it's a gorgeous shade of baby blue. I think she's beautiful. Just searching pixie cuts on Google images makes me swoon.
