  1. Ok...we're using Recipe for Reading, but I also purchased AAS. My question is, do you use both a phonics program & AAS or do you use one or the other? Is it too confusing to use both or do they complement each other? Thanks :001_smile:
  2. What food enzymes do you use? Are you referring to a type of digestive enzyme? Thanks :) I know my changes will have to be gradual especially since my husband is a skeptic of diet changes being helpful. :)
  3. Thank you for responding. It seems a little overwhelming at first, but maybe starting to replace things a little at a time would be doable. We do eat fairly healthy, I make most things from scratch, but there is still room for improvement. I also just got my first order of fish oil capsules so we are going to start those also. I guess I just needed to hear some testimonies from moms who actually noticed much improvement with dietary changes. I appreciate the input!
  4. Has anyone used this? I noticed one mom mentioned it in a thread and I was just wondering if anyone on this board has had experience with it and did you notice improvement. Thanks!
  5. We are in Northwest Florida about an hour north of Panama City. :)
  6. I am definitely going to try this. I found a website where they compared different brands and this one got the highest score for taste and cost: http://www.iherb.com/Minami-Nutrition-MorEPA-Mini-Junior-Strawberry-Flavor-60-Softgels/14176?at=1
  7. This link may be helpful: http://www.diveintomath.com/clipart/9903AuWn.pdf
  8. Thanks for these suggestions! I had not heard of WttW either. Now I have a plan also. :) I think the Notgrass with some literature modifications and Windows to The World will be a good fit for my daughter!
  9. My dd also struggles with science which is why I was looking for something less intense. Amy, did your daughter enjoy the curriculum and comprehend it OK? Thanks, Angie...I'll check those links out also. Any other suggestions are welcome! My daughter did Apologia Biology this past year...it was pretty challenging for her. I wasn't sure about going with Apologia for chemistry because of that.
  10. I was wondering if anyone has used this curriculum? It contains twelve chapters of text and twelve companion student activity books, for 180 lessons. It is featured on Timberdoodle's website and got many good reviews.
  11. Thanks for your input...my daughter did BJU's Earth and Space course in 8th grade. Maybe I should do more of a cultural geography....decisions, decisions. :) I would like her to so some map work also. I was so pleased with MOH and we would have kept on, but volume 4 will not be done for a couple more years. I thought about continuing World History with another curriculum and picking up where we left off as far as time periods, but I don't know. Then I thought maybe we should just switch gears and do geography. I do want her to be challenged a bit, but like I said she gets overwhelmed with too much material. She says her attention span can only handle so much. :)
  12. I do have the Bob Jones Geography textbook...my older kids did it with BJU Homesat. It just seems like it might be a little much for my youngest who is definitely a different learner and I think she would be overwhelmed by the amount of material in it. So Around the World is not a stand alone geography curriculum?
  13. I am trying to make a decision about a geography course for my daughter who will be in 10th grade in the fall. Would Runkles geography be ok for that grade? And how about Around the World in 180 Days? These courses are both new to me, but several have mentioned them so I'm just wondering about age appropriateness. My daughter loves short concise lessons...she loved Mystery of History for that reason. Thanks for your input! :)
  14. I've been considering buying this book by Ronit Bird, but I wanted to know if anyone had used it and did you find it helpful?
  15. I just wanted to say thanks for everyone's input on this board. I've only been on here for a few weeks, but I have been so encouraged! It can seem a little overwhelming...there are so many choices for curriculum out there, but at least I can read about what helped different children, do some research and find a good fit for my children. Dealing with learning disabilities is new for us with our 2 adopted children since my 5 biological children did not have any learning issues. After feeling very discouraged one week, I found this board and I have to say that I have a new vision for what can be accomplished. :) Thanks to all of you hard-working moms out there!
