  1. Thanks for suggestions - I've got some research ahead of me but glad that I have a place to start! :001_smile:
  2. Thanks for the suggestions! I've heard of Rod&Staff before - is it a workbook based program? Is it scripted like FLL?
  3. My 4th grade daughter will be finishing First Language Lessons Level 4 very soon. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on where to go from here? I'm a bit overwhelmed and dont know where to start. Thanks for your wisdom!
  4. You must have looked in my closet! Same clothes, same age!! :)
  5. I have the Touch and love it. Wireless is nice and I've added kids games to keep them off my phone. Wouldn't use it to workout though - too big. I've got another mp3 player for that.
  6. This is our first year homeschooling and we went with SL Core 1 this year with my 3rd and 1st graders. In retrospect, I wish I had gone with Core 1+2 as it seems a bit light for my 3rd grader. My concern at the time was that Core 1+2 would be too hard for my 1st grader and he would be "pulled along" following what best suited my 3rd grader. One thing to keep in mind is the appropriateness of the material for your younger child with the higher level cores ... I've decided to start TOG next fall as I add my Kindergartener. I can't see myself doing multiple Cores...
  7. Great links to blogs. Thank you - I think it's answering questions I didn't even know I had. :)
  8. Thanks for the advice! I'm glad I'm not the only one going back to regroup!! :001_smile:
  9. My son is an ok reader but still struggles - he learned to read in PS Kindergarten. New words, sounding things out, and spelling are difficult for him. I was thinking of starting OPGTR with him to help out but he thinks it's too easy. Thoughts? On a side note, we're doing WWE1 and just finished FLL1 - that is going well. :) Thanks!
  10. We are in Week 23 and my 8-year DD is having difficulty with summarizing the passages. We attempt the summary without the leading questions but it usually hits 6 sentences, not the 2-3. With the questions, it's usually 4-5 sentences. How can I explain summarize to a girl who gets caught up in the details? Thanks!
  11. This is our first year homeschooling and we live in Virginia. I know that my kids need to take a nationally standardized test and I've started looking into what's out there. I know about the CAT, Iowa, and Stanford. What about the Terra Nova? Does that also meet the requirements? Does anyone have any experience with it? Thanks so much! :)
  12. Our library has 53 of the LG books and 30 or the UG books from the primary list. Better than I thought!
  13. I'd love to know if you decide to share this. I hope to start TOG with my kids in the fall and we'll be doing Y2. I'll have a Ker, and my 4th & 2nd graders, and would love for her to get the most out of TOG, even if she is a Ker.
  14. Great things to think about! Thanks everyone!
  15. I'd like to get a timeline that we can hang on the wall. Space to write events is a must! :) We have SL's timeline that comes in book form but it's hard for my kids visualize the flow. Any suggestions where I can get one? Thanks!
