  1. Good morning, all!

The wind has stopped, now it's starting to warm up again.  It was a long week, so looking forward to unwinding a bit.

    To do:

    • waiting on word to see if I can get in for a haircut (haven't cut it since Covid shutdown)
    • coffee
    • take books back to library
    • pedicure
    • drop donation bag at Goodwill
    • lesson plan for week, create digital journal for students
    • find a new keto crockpot recipe or two for next week
    • experiment with a power nap (would like to put it into my midday routine)
    • pay bills
    • read, relax
    • not sure about dinner yet, quick market trip to decide

    Have a great day!

    • meetings, work
    • find missing info for dd's financial aid
    • read, relax
    • pizza/salad for dinner

  3. Dh and I went to lunch, had a great view of the ocean.  We stopped to see my mom on the way back.  We are now catching up on Outlander before tonight's season premiere.  Dh made brownies, which I can't have.  Sigh...

Debating on my lesson plans.  I'm thinking about dialectical journal entries for our next work.

  4. Good morning, all!  The rain has finally cleared, has warmed up a bit.  Dh and I are going to try and get out for a bit.  I taught Saturday school yesterday, got some grading in, came home and slept most of the day.  I need a change of scenery for today...

    To do:

    • coffee
    • out with dh for the morning
    • window visit my mom, take her some goodies, still no in-person visits
    • lunch/dinner out
    • pick up stuff for lunches for the week
    • lesson planning, grade some more essays
    • start new book for 52 week challenge

    Have a great day!

    • coffee
    • type up an analysis quiz
    • work/school
    • work on some readings for class, lesson plan

  6. Got a lot accomplished today!  Found some missing items, was able to organize most things.  I had groceries delivered because I was on a roll.  Dh is home from his baseball game, so we might bbq steaks instead of planned quiche.  Looking forward to sitting down for a bit, relax.

  7. Amy, sorry about the loss, but what a great season!

I'm feeling a little lazy, but really feel the need to power through some stuff here today.   I talked to my mom earlier, and she sounded good.  I'm determined to finish a book I started, been struggling to lose myself in.  There are lots of editing errors, very unlike this author's previous books.

    To do today:

    • purge bathroom cabinets, organize
    • clean out fridge
    • order groceries
    • finish book
    • quiche for dinner to use up all the leftover cheese, veggies, meat
    • watch a movie, relax

    Have a great day!

  8. Good morning, all!  It's getting cloudy, temps dropping, rain expected the next two days.  I'm looking forward to the lower temps!  It's just too hot for February.

    To do today:

    • work on the mess I created by pulling everything out of the workout/office room, now need to organize, purge or put away
    • arrange my "to be read" list from the books I had put aside, forgot about
    • find some jeans that won't shrink in length when I wash them, very frustrating
    • dh and I are going out, shop for jeans, etc., Mexican food for lunch
    • work on coursework for class
    • read, relax

    Have a great day!

    • create checklist for the day (Rxs, water intake, vitamins, exercise, etc.). I got away from doing this, need to make it a priority in the morning
    • work on budget, pay bills
    • laundry
    • clean/organize dining room/table
    • find something for crockpot for dinner
    • complete more assignments for class
    • read, relax

    Have a great day!

  10. Good afternoon!  Late post today...

We had Saturday school today, enough kids showed up to keep my class open.  I'm home now, having some coffee, contemplating what to do next. I may work on a class that I'm currently taking, figure out something good for dinner.

Hope you all have a relaxing, productive Saturday!

  12. Good morning, all!  It is hot here today (sorry for the cold and dreary for others).  It's supposed to be 87 today?  I can handle high 70s, but this kind of heat in February is just too much.

    To do today:

    • coffee (a prolific amount)
    • feed dog
    • clean bathrooms
    • vacuum bedroom, quick swiffer mop of floors
    • quick run to Target for laundry stuff

    • some self care (face mask, hand treatment, hair conditioner)
    • organize my reading list for 52 week challenge, post
    • dinner is hamburger patties, green beans, keto biscuits
    • read, relax with some decaf chai tea

    Have a great day!

  14. I went on Zillow to look at some numbers.  Homes here are up between 30 to 70% in listing price from original purchase.  There was one mobile home for sale in a park, great school district, close to amenities, priced at 80,000.  The space rent?  1382 not including utilities, etc. Homes here rarely make it to market.  A house apparently sold a few streets over.  The only reason any of us knew was the moving vans leaving, arriving.

It would be great to cash in on the market, but where do you go?  We could never afford to buy here in this market.  Our dream retirement city has us priced out.  If we had followed through three years ago, we could have owned a home for 300,000 cheaper.  The property taxes get hiked up also, making this ridiculously expensive.  All of this has made us re-evaluate our retirement plans.

  15. Online church was great today.  I did a window visit with my mom,  went to Target for paper goods.  Came home, fell asleep.  Woke up to find out football game had another great finish, and my to do list is probably done for the day.  Contemplating taking tomorrow off, but I'm trying to save days in case of another emergency.

The fencing tournament took a smidge longer than expected, but was so so so so fun. DH did great --

That sounds like fun.  Congrats to your dh.  I think my younger son would have enjoyed this...

@readinmom, since collagen is a protein, are you hoping it stabilizes your blood sugar? We've been using a new recipe to season our burgers that is delicious (I use 1/4 tsp onion powder instead of onion).

Amy, not necessarily stabilize, just not shoot me through the roof.  I'm Type 1, late onset autoimmune, and food that was working for me before suddenly makes my blood sugar go up.  It's frustrating sometimes.

Your burgers sound good...I love Worcestershire sauce!  I think I'll make these instead!  Thanks for the link.

  19. Good morning,  all!

It's been a week, here...   Dd was cleared to return to school (happy dance).   A lot of paperwork, doctor's letters, etc.  Dh went with her to make sure dorm and doors were accessible (still on walker/scooter), set up physical therapy appts.  We checked, double-checked weather, just cold temps.  It has snowed, quite cold and wet, giving dd a test run for her money.  She says she's fine but I'm cringing with every scenario my head can dream up.

    To do today:

    • coffee
    • dog care
    • run a few errands
    • take my mom some food/snacks that she likes, window visit
    • make sense of the mountain of paperwork that is on dining table
    • watch some movies/read for 52 week challenge
    • grilled chicken for dinner,  salad

    Have a great day!

  20. Got to do a window visit with my mom.  We called in on her phone so communication was better.  It's so frustrating not to be able to hug her.

Trying to get counters in kitchen straightened up, organized.  Paperwork everywhere...

  21. Looking at the note in a different perspective here...

Your mom is realizing she's at the point where she is about to lose control of her life.  The reason you have 0s is because you have the ability to give her exactly the care she needs, and in her mind, losing the last of her independence. She feels she can still manipulate others, hence the higher scores.

You're mom is never going to change, only get worse as time goes on.  You are not responsible for her venom.  You can only offer what you have done so far, in offering support/care.  I'm so sorry that your dd, you ever saw the note.   As a previous poster said, please take a pic of it, because if she is hospitalized, it will go a long way in determining her long-term care.

Hugs, hugs, hugs to you...I know you are hurting.

  22. Once the comment is out there there's no backtracking on what she said.   It's sad that this will change the innocent nature of your son's relationship with his cousin. but you are now in the position of protecting your son and his future.  Comments like hers will hang like a cloud whether you want them to or not.  If they are going to spend time together, make sure it is in a supervised manner.  If sil is vindictive enough, things could go badly for your ds in an attempt to hurt you.
