  1. Sorry if someone already said this.... I don't have time to read all the comments; but do those people buy insurance? Life, health, property, etc. ?? If they follow the same logic, they shouldn't buy insurance either. They should have faith. They also shouldn't have any money set aside for an emergency. They should have faith that God will take care of them. Did they get any vaccines? Do they seek medical treatment when they have a health problem? At least be consistent.
  2. We have a dog and three cats PLUS two extra cats that have appeared and hang out in our barn eating all of our cat's food. 😞 And, we added a baby bunny during the SIP.
  3. I sprinkle moth balls around the plants that the rabbits are likely to eat and they leave them alone.
  4. I went to Walmart on Saturday. Trust me, I didn't want to. I had avoided all public places for the previous 16 days, but my dh developed a medical condition that necessitated me picking up a prescription for him. THEY HAD TOILET PAPER, which was funny to me because I've been trying to add it to my on line order for the last two weeks and they wouldn't let me. They had plenty in the store, but did limit it to one package per customer. I actually felt better about everything after shopping in the store. All the things that I had tried to add to my cart on line that they said were out of stock, were actually there at the store. I figured as long as I had already immersed myself in that germ-infested place, i was going to buy absolutely everything that I could think of. It felt like just a touch of normalcy. So, while I don't advocate going out unless you have to, you may be able to find the things you need if you're willing to go into the store.
  5. I don't buy into the conspiracy theory idea that is was released purposely as a bio weapon, but do you think there's any substance to the thought that it could have been released accidentally? I haven't looked into it extensively because I flat out don't trust any news source to be completely factual, but there does seem to be circumstantial evidence -- Wuhan has a level 4 bio lab and it's close to the Wuhan wet market. Is that information true?
  6. I just received my first Instacart order from Aldi. I did have to order five days in advance and they didn't have some of the things on my list. I was disappointed that they limited eggs and milk to two even though they didn't inform me of that when I ordered. Two dozen eggs barely gets us through one breakfast here. 😞 Also, the delivery came five hours later than I ordered it. It was fine -- I'm not going anywhere. 🙂 They did keep me informed about when it was going to arrive.
  7. Because blowing up a hospital is a great way to help right now.
  8. I LOVE my Cutco knives. I've sent mine in for sharpening and they have sent me back completely new knives for some of them. For example, I had one with a broken tip, and they sent a new one. Mine have survived a house fire, so one of the white ones had smoke stains. They replaced it. Great knives. Great customer service. Highly recommend.
  9. So sorry. I imagine there will be hard times for many.
  10. Here's a site where you can compare taxes per county: http://www.tax-rates.org/pennsylvania/property-tax Here's a cost of living calculator -- we used this when we were considering a move. It's not exact because, of course, there are variables, and it doesn't include taxes, but it gives you a ball park range: https://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/ I live north of Pittsburgh and we haven't shoveled snow for several years. We get enough that we need to brush it off of our cars, but it often melts by later in the day. Interstate 80 is often the snow-dividing line in this part of the state. There will be snow north of it and rain south of it.
  11. My dh and I disagreed at first. I had to make decisions about canceling events for a large group of people, so I was doing lots of research. He was trying to adjust to the changing needs of his work environment and wasn't reading much about it. The little that he was reading wasn't fact based imo. I was able to counter his arguments with facts and logic, and now that everything's being shut down, I think he is seeing that I was right. Of course, I don't expect him to tell me that. 🙂 Whatever. I would have preferred to have been wrong in this situation.
  12. I am in the far western part of PA, close to Pittsburgh, Ohio and West Virginia. I really love it here. People are nice -- laid-back, kind, tolerant scenery is beautiful weather is pleasant; we get all four seasons, but nothing extreme, not too hot in summer, not too cold in winter, occasional snow, but not much taxes and housing prices vary, we bought a foreclosure on five acres for under $50K, but we've had to put a lot into it the homeschool laws look intimidating, but aren't bad at all once you figure it out access to medical care -- several of my kids have medical needs, they get great care here and it's nearby (in the midwest I had to travel about four hours) access to sports, music, theatre, museums etc lots of parks, state forests, and natural beauty I recommend it.
  13. My thoughts on this keep changing. Upthread I said that my teens were at a friend's house, but they were at a friend's house in the only state that has no cases reported yet. Large events with lots of people? No way. One or two friends over? Possibly. Especially if they all play outside. If we had elderly grandparents who we were likely to visit, I'd do more restricting. As it is, we can avoid visiting with compromised people.
  14. My teens are at a friend's house right now. I will also let them have friends over in small groups.
  15. My dh teaches at the master's level and this has been his experience as well. On-line students do not perform as well.
  16. Here's my take on it. The mother of the bride is supposed to be the first to stand as a signal to everyone else. The officiant of the ceremony verbally tells everyone when they should sit down again. I don't know how the tradition began, but I'd be ok with doing away with it. I'd prefer to be able to see the bride as she walks in and I would think that everyone standing might also obscure her from the groom's line of sight.
  17. I think it looks fine. Once it's done, I'm sure no one would even notice that there's any difference.
  18. Grades were kept private when I was in school. I'm in my 50's.
  19. Birkenstocks or Chaccos. I've had both in the slip on style that you described. Good support, easy to get on and off and comfortable to walk in.
  20. I'm looking for an economics game or simulation that I could use for a co-op class. This would be for 7-10th graders. Ideally, I'd like a game where kids would choose a business, plan a marketing strategy, make advertisements, and then have real-life scenarios thrown at them so that they would have to make business decisions. I'd like them to understand about paying insurance and taxes, and dealing with employees and customers. I've seen some that are completely on-line, but I'd like something that we can do in a classroom without access to computers. TIA.
  21. My dd makes protein balls and adds chia. They're delicious. https://www.wellplated.com/energy-balls/
  22. Google maps. It's been reliable and I like the way it links to my calendar so that when I have an address in my calendar, I only need to click that.
