My daughter really likes a Christian group called Pure NRG. She also likes Superchic(k), Toby Mac, Taylor Swift among others. Her first (and only, thus far) concert was Superchic(k) and I lost that girl to the mosh pit for the evening. She had a blast! http://www.todayschristianmusic.com/Article.asp?id=820606&spid=18443

Is that a real possibility? Because I would totally buy one and make it go through my yard everyday. Can you have a mongoose in the US?- 56 replies

Polite Rant about SUGAR and Treats.....

I'm enjoying my mental picture of a little girl chomping ice and giggling furiously while the peace seeking adults in her life point menacingly at the doorway!:001_smile:- 323 replies

Does anyone know anything about Justine Magazine? My daughter already gets Kiki, so I don't know that she even needs another magazine. Our Girl Scout council was suggesting this magazine, but I know nothing about it. Anyone?

We used Thinkwell for economics. Dur to a snaffoo in which I made a mistake, my daughter ended up taking both the macroeconomics and microeconomics. She did not care for them, but I think that has more to do with the subject matter than with Thinkwell. We just had to get 'er done and this was a way to accomplish that.

How is everybody's college freshman settling in?
Kelli in TN replied to LynnG in Arizona's topic in The College Board
Well, these are the newer dorms. She got on the waiting list for one of these before Christmas last year. She is already on the waiting list for next year. If she had waited too long she would have been in the nasty dorms; same dorms her dad stayed in. In fact he thinks they might still be using the same mattresses from when he was there! She pays a good bit extra for this dorm but it is so worth it. And since her scholarship is generous she does not mind the extra money to be comfortable and have privacy. -

Forgot the name of a curriculum, can you help?
Kelli in TN replied to Kelli in TN's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Thank you!!!! -
It is a fine arts/music course set up to match the 4 year chronological. It was written by a poster here who also has a couple of well known blogs; including one that is about nature studies. And the name of the curriculum and the author have completely escaped through one of the many holes in my brain. Can you help me?

How is everybody's college freshman settling in?
Kelli in TN replied to LynnG in Arizona's topic in The College Board
I have really enjoyed reading everyone's updates!! Sarah is loving her college. You may recall that she was accepted into the University Scholars program; the highest tier of the honors program. She loves being a Scholar. The director of the program took her aside a couple of weeks into the semester and asked her why her GPA was not higher than it was. He asked about my grading methods. Sarah tried to explain my hodge-podge methods in such a way as to make me sound like I had it together. The director is a homeschool dad who is following WTM with his very young sons and so he is interested in Sarah's schooling for that reason. He told her that he thought I had done it "right" and that he thought Sarah would be a great asset to the Scholars program. She was just on cloud nine that day. She loves her classes. Her roommates are studious, smart girls. Her dorm is just amazing; each girl has a private bedroom and there are two bathrooms for the suite of four girls. They share a living room and kitchen. It's a great setup. We get to see her every two weeks as she drives home for her Venturing meetings. Oh, and after midterms her grade is a 4.0!!! -

Chris, I'm sorry to hear this. I just now prayed that he will overcome and rise above these challenges and shine. -
People whom seem unaware of WTM.
Kelli in TN replied to AuntPol's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Yep. In fact I will often say to people "Go track down so-and-so and tell her it's your turn to use my WTM." I have not actually seen that book in months. -
Thanks for posting this. It helps with my long-term planning. And a question for you RS4K users; do you use the lab sheets that are provided? My younger children have been overwhelmed with the amount of writing on the lab sheets. I wonder if this is just my kids, or if others have found it to be a bit much.

I am using it with a 6th grader and 8th grader. They both know what an abortion is as well. -
Fallacy Detective or Critical Thinking 1
Kelli in TN replied to dands's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
If you are comfortable with the point of view of the Bluedorns, I have to say that The Fallacy Detective is a great intro to logic. My kids keep reading ahead, they like it that much. And they now point out reasoning errors that are made by me and by my husband. I don't actually appreciate that part as much as they think I should. -
I have to agree with Brenda here. I would not skip it.
