  1. I'm sure this isn't proper "protocol" for a deacon's wife (to say I hate church :001_smile:), but I'm going to say it anyway. I can definitely identify w/the bolded. Only, in my case, it was my dad that left forever, not dh's dad. We have a great church and I try to be faithful in attending, but there are some days I choose not to go. I didn't go to church on Mother's day for years (my mom died very unexpectedly when I was in college). I'm sorry about your difficult Father's Day. Today I made it through about 5 minutes of the sermon, went and cried in the bathroom, then went to McD for some lunch.
  2. Wow, this is great timing! I just started (today!) Amer. History with my soon-to-be second grader. I've been needing to add some to it, and this would be so helpful. I pm'd you. Thank you!
  3. I have never tutored in CC. My personal opinion is that you will enjoy your first year in CC more (perhaps a lot more?) if you do not tutor. You can get used to the program and watch other tutors. Just my two cents.
  4. My dd turned 6 just before we started with CC. She is advanced for her age, but I have always been glad that I didn't enroll her any earlier. I think 6 or 7 is a great age to start CC.
  5. I think it is definitely worth reading, whether or not you are a part of CC.
  6. I didn't see the other thread, but I read about your newest gift on your blog. Congratulations!!! My sweet dd was born at 34 weeks one day. She was 4.5 lbs. and very healthy. The first few months were difficult. She ate frequently. I got PPD. She spat up frequently, poor thing. But after the first few months, she was the happiest baby. She is a ray of light from heaven. :) Prayers and hugs.
  7. Thanks Tina! It came! We started today. Dd reminded me this morning, "You said we could start PR after Bible, Mom!" :D She really loved how organized her notebook was - she's into organizing things (perhaps it's a reaction to how unorganized her mommy is sometimes...). I asked politely if I could borrow her clipboard sometime and she said no! I think she was only partially joking...
  8. Funny! Something tells me I'll probably never get an essay from dd with the words bam or splat in it!
  9. Hi Tina. I followed the link on your website recently and ordered Phonics Road 1. Now I'm checking the front door several times a day to see if there are any boxes sitting in the melting (yay!) snow. My dd is an excellent reader but has not received any phonics training (well, almost none). I've always wanted her to have a strong foundation in phonics but couldn't decide what to use until I learned about Phonics Road. I told my dh that this time my procrastination paid off, since I haven't wasted much money on other LA materials. :)
