  1. That was a good article. Thanks for posting. It touched on some aspects I had not thought about.
  2. "Though Jazz likes dressing as a girl, he doesn't seem to want to be mistaken for one. He recently asked his mother to let the leaders of a nature center know that he's a boy. And he chose not to attend a conventional school because of the questions about his gender. Asked whether that upsets him, Jazz nodded." This is when I as a mother would say "OK, experiment over."
  3. I don't have anything to add, but wanted to offer my appreciation and prayers for his safe return. <<hugs>> to him and all his family.
  4. Just wanted to give an update. Been using the Oil of Olay face brush for a little over a week and I love it. It is great. I don't find it to be too abrassive. (a complaint by some). There are 2 speeds and you can increase or decrease pressure, so I find it works great. Thanks for the recommendation Barb. I received my sample packets from Paula's Choice a couple of days ago. So far, I am not too pleased, but I need to give it more time. The cleanser seems a little too mild, maybe.... If anyone else is going to get the sample packets, please be aware that the toner sample is good for only 1 application. Ther other packets get about 2-3 applications.
  5. You're right I don't believe it!! Forget Blockbuster, Netflix it straight into your home!! Instant play - RUN don't walk!!
  6. All the talk about JD, and well what's a girl to do but watch one of his movies. After watching it, I had to share one of the best scenes ever (from Don Juan DeMarco) : :drool5:  and for JD fans here's another youtube I have to share. Oh yeah!! That man is like fine wine........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duHRSFUP_yQ
  7. :iagree: I think she and her sister are laughing all the way to the bank, and then handing off to charity. The current bid is £75,110.
  8. I was cleaning up dd room and found a poem she wrote. I had to share: Subjects Grammer should be in the slammer Math is the path to wrath Reading should take a beating History is a mystery Science is an expensive appliance Spelling is an awful dwelling Play is a birthday :lol::lol: Yes, this is going into storage to pull out when she graduates!!
  9. <<<many hugs to you and yours>>> My mom lived with us while going through chemo. She was stage 4B and I was pregnant, so everything was pretty stressful. I only used curriculum that the kids could do on their own, I put my youngest in school, and we hired a housekeeper to come in 1x a week. Do whatever you need to do to keep your stress down and use your energy to get well.
  10. I think you ought to poll this one. You might get more responses. Personally, I would like to know the ages of people who respond too. Does one become more or less happy as they age?? I dont know what I am. I go back and forth.
  11. Writing A musical instrument course (guitar, piano, etc.) Foreign languages Science - esp. ones that require equipment difficult for me to get, like telescopes for Astronomy. Unusual sports or physical activities that require someone knowledgeable and trained like fencing, white water kayaking, rock climbing, etc.
  12.:lol::lol: Ages of Grace looks pretty boxy to me too. What does that mean?? hmmm..... :D I really like it though, and for 50$ how can you go wrong. A lot of bang for your buck imo.
  13. :bigear: to the bolded  to the underlined, should I check your blog?? NM, I checked your posts; <<hugs>> It is unbelievable how naive some people choose to remain and how some churches are with their hiring. <<hugs>>
  14. You want the corn to be at minimum 4ft x 4ft square, but bigger is better. Expect for there to be 2 or 3 ears a stalk and plan accordingly for your family. Best book I have is Jerry Baker's http://www.amazon.com/Terrific-Garden-Tonics-Do-Yourself/dp/0922433569/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1305825837&sr=1-1 Lots of good practical advice. You will want to plant your garden in accordance with the sun's position. Plant the smaller height plants on the south side of the plot. Taller on the north side. (I am assuming you are in N America). This will optimize their sun exposure.
  15. S2 - that looks like a great book that your dh is reading, put it in my wish list. When atheists or agnostics ask me about why I am a Christian they always ask about those "hard sayings"; sometimes I can answer and sometimes I am :001_huh:. I bet that book would help with that. BTW, your packing advice has helped plenty of times. I keep thinking about the plastic hangers story. KH - prayed for you and dh today. BriG - Sorry you are sick. Hope you get over it quick. <<hugs>> I am missing the group and the privacy too, but also feeling liberated by the "unlimited" word count. I broke down and bought some books. I didnt want to make the investment unless O was in our future. After talking to Fr. Jeff, my sentiments.... "though none go with me, still I will follow". Plus, I was using the library at the parish, but since we are moving soon thought it better to stop borrowing lest I pack something up inadvertantly. I bought the OSB, "Becomming Orthodox", and "Thirsting for God in a Land of Shallow Wells". Looking forward to delving into them.:)
  16. MrsBasil - I was wondering how you were feeling. Glad Simochka opened this thread. (that name is even fun to write). PJ - read your blog post today and thought it was good. Kinda went along with the other blog I read that you had posted a link to. Good stuff. Thought the dinner analogy was "right on". Too many posts to respond to all tonight. Brain is getting foggy, up too late again.
  17. When I see stuff like this, I always get upset like it has happened to my best friend or something. When a man does this to a woman, it feels as if he has done it to all womankind. I don't know quite how to explain it, as I am just beginning to analyze my reactions. I have had the unfortunate "opportunity" to experience this frequently enough now to notice a pattern (so many just in the last couple of years). Does anyone else go through this? Why dont we ever see women hanging their heads in front of the camera, and men being "hurt" and distancing themselves asking for privacy.
  18. I didn't read everyone's reply so excuse me if I repeat what some others suggested. I have 2 children that didnt crawl until they were 11 months, and then only crawled for a very short time before they were walking. They are both fine without any developmental delays in other areas. In fact, they both went on to play some sports. One of my children would not try to walk until we moved to a house with carpet. She had tried to walk on our hard wood floors, but didnt like it when she fell. As soon as we were on carpet, she took off. It could be that gb is sensory sensitive. It could be that he has other things on his mind and crawling does not interest him yet. She could try leg and arm massages. Also, taking his legs while on his back and making the motions with his legs as if he is bicycling or running. Taking his legs by the ankles and pushing his legs up with knees bent into a fetal position. Kinda what they do with people who are bed ridden to keep circulation going and keep muscle atrophy at bay. In her case, it would be to get baby's muscles accustomed to the motions and familiarity for baby's brain. One more idea: if dd will remain during the PT session and watch everything, she could probably duplicate it at home. I am sure the PT will work with her on the visits and try to keep them down to the minimum. Only making an appt. when something new needs to be done/learned. If she feels the need to have PT.
  19. The toy storage never worked for us either. All of it just ended up on the floor within a 30 min. span. Then I was left organizing it b/c the bins weren't big enough for certain things if they were mixed with other certain things. It was a pain. Big plastic tub worked best for us when they were little. Now that they are older, we use Gorilla Shelves http://www.gorillarack.com/raptor/ We bought ours at Sam's Wholesale for about 60-80$ They hold a ton of stuff, clothes and toys. For small clothes like undies and socks, we use the largest dish pan and put it on one of the shelves. The shelves go almost to the ceiling and take up about as much space as a dresser on the floor, but we get a lot more usable space for the area. The height makes a huge difference. Plus they break down easy for moving and are sturdy. HTH
