      This is his first year homeschooling, right? You should start with WWE1, even though he's in 4th grade. If it's easy for him, do 2-4 lessons a day. If it's not, going slower is totally fine.

      The "1" in "WWE 1" doesn't mean "1st grade" it means "first level in the curriculum." And the skills taught aren't typically taught in public/private school curricula, so it's likely he will learn a lot from starting with level 1.

      I agree with pp. WWE4 is a large step up and not required to move on. It is a large job and I spread it over two years mixing in other writing activities. You could probably start with any of the WWE1-3 books. If he has trouble back up and/or break it down, and if he doesn't you can keep moving.
