  1. Ok, forget what's her name the dog! I think Sunny needs to be the official Cadbury Easter Bunny! What says the Hive?
  2. I am so sorry! I have been there too many times. (Twice, it has been in the month of April. I'm basically a weepy mess for most of the month now, and seeing the picture of your beautiful old man made me start up again.) It just plain stinks.
  3. Giving this thread a bump. I woke up thinking about wee Sunny!
  4. Oh, Mercy! I am so sorry! Sending you loads of hugs for what I’s sure will be a rough night!
  5. That’s one seriously cute little canary! Thanks for sharing the photo with us!
  6. Oh, I didn’t think it was *supposed* to be a good photoshop. I just thought it was a clever illustration of a silly Mondegreen!
  7. Adding my voice to the others! How’s little Sunny doing today?
  8. <nods and winks at fellow flutists> Yessiree! Well behaved, that’s us! 🤣
  9. Thanks for the replies so far guys! I’m headed back to Amazon to take a look!
  10. I’m thinking I will either put the stand on the floor or a low stool, depending on the height of the stand, and hold the keyboard in my lap when I’m not working with my own pup. Most of our tricks are done on the floor.
  11. Ok, hive! Can anyone out there recommend a tablet stand they love? I am going to be hosting some Zoom meetings (as opposed to just attending.) I don’t want to have to juggle both my iPad and the Bluetooth keyboard while moderating the meetings, so I figure I’ll need some sort of stand to prop the iPad in place. There are about eleventy-bazillion of these things on Amazon, and of course there are great reviews and awful reviews for all of them, and I have read so many that my brain hurts! Does anyone have a secure tablet stand they really like that won’t fall apart on me after a week or two of use? Bonus points for stability and adjustability. This is for virtual pet therapy, so the camera needs to pick up what’s going on at dog-level, and I don’t want my iPad to come crashing to the floor if a canine tail happens to whack it!
  12. Goodness gracious! What an aggressive post! The OP never said “simmering distrust”. She described the neighbors as having a “simmering ruthlessness” about them, in other words, their actions have caused her to have a negative gut feeling of concern. She mentioned that she and her dh have gone out of their way to promote good neighborly relations, to the extent that her dh has handled repairs on *the neighbor's fence* because the neighbor was neglecting it, and it was damaging *her* property. And now, rather than replacing or repairing the fence as is stands, the neighbors are being petty and demanding that she remove a garden which provides significant benefits to the OP's family. (Check out the cost of fresh raspberries and herbs the next time you shop for groceries.) Furthermore, until a survey is completed, she does not know “perfectly well” that the land doesn’t belong to her and her dh! Which is why so many of us have jumped in and suggested researching the laws and having a survey done prior to the fence's replacement. There is no need for them to give in to cantankerous bullies just because the bullies say so!
  13. Yep. This. Because we didn’t want neighbors of any kind messing with our dogs, so we deliberately placed our chain link fence 3 feet inside our property. This worked fine until the nice elderly woman next door was pressured by her stepsons into moving out, and then we had issues with new neighbors who turned the house next door into an Air BnB (which is illegal here.) Some of their “guests” held drunken parties and wandered all over our yard. We now have property line markers and “no trespassing” signs at regular intervals down the length of our property. 🙄It’s ugly to look at, but the property line markers did the trick! eta: Sorry you’re dealing with this! Neighbors can really make or break a house!
  14. I am still masking and will continue to do so until I see the hospitalized/ ICU numbers go way, way down. I’m vaxed and boosted, but I do have asthma, and in the (hopefully) unlikely event that I had to be hospitalized, I’d prefer to be tended to by medical staff who aren’t exhausted, overworked, and burnt out! So the longer I can put off being infected, the better. If anyone has a problem with my mask, they can go play in the traffic!
  15. Never.going.to.sleep.again. Why did I open this thread right before bed?
  16. Mil (72) felt poorly over this past weekend, got a positive test Monday, and was feeling like she is “over the worst of it” last night. She is vaccinated and boosted (J&J + Moderna booster.) She and Fil never restricted activities, and have been mask-free since they were vaccinated the first time, which is fine for them, but I have to wonder how many people their behavior might have infected. 😞
  17. You can’t go wrong with a bit of Vaughan Williams! This recording is one of my favorites of the Tallis Fantasia, and this one of his English Folk Suite is another of my desert island recordings.
  18. ^^^What Faith said. In the meantime, I can help with what songs not to choose. 😉
  19. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 Adorable. Simply adorable! I can smell the puppy breath from here!
  20. I think it would be in the dog's best interest to be rehomed through a knowledgeable rescue group who is willing to work with/ train the dog and place him in a home with someone who understands the dog's issues and needs. (Only dog, no children, strict routine, and lots of training and exercise? Just guessing from what has been described here.) It would certainly be kinder to the pooch to rehome him now, rather than wait until the behaviors escalate and result in an injury to humans, and then to euthanize the poor dog because no one was willing or able to work with him.
  21. If Scout is otherwise in good health (labwork all good, acting normal except for the mouth) I would probably go ahead and try the surgery. Keep in mind though, that I am one of those people who sees pets - dogs in my case, cats in yours- as family, and I set aside a monthly budget for their health care just as I do for ours. I know it’s not exactly the same, but I spent uh, well, more that your quote on a dental for one of my pups when she was 13, almost 14, and she lived another 3 happy years.(I posted here about adopting her at age 11 with all sorts of health issues. We never thought she would make it to 12, forget 17!) All that to say that some animals do respond well to treatment! If the price tag is the real issue, have you shopped around? I don’t know where you take your cats, but some of the local vets have gone out of all reason! Angels of Assisi may be able to offer the procedure for less. Hugs to you! I know this isn’t an easy decision!
  22. Maybe she is hearing something you aren’t, and thinks there is a mouse in there? Our fridge makes a high-pitched squeal when the ice maker kicks on. Probably not the case, but I thought I’d toss it out there.
