My step goal on my Fitbit is 14,000. I'd like to maybe see if I can hit at least 16,000 each day. That feels like a lot but I guess I'll just have to really try.
And I need to make sure I've eaten 1700 calories a day.

I was pretty good yesterday. I got all of my water in and made my 14,000 step goal. I even had the frame of mind to check my calories before bed and eat something else to avoid being at a severe deficit. Now if I could just not be so exhausted by 9pm.

Don't discount camping. We have an instant tent that goes up in less than a minute and sleeps 8. The kids learn to roll a sleeping bag with their pjs kept at the foot so when we stop, up goes the tent and the sleeping bags get rolled out and we're set.
If we don't camp, we look for a hotel with suites. Two beds and a pull out means that it'll sleep six at least. Of we can do a rollaway, that's seven...

I wanna play! I regularly hit my 10,000 steps so I'd like to up my goal to a consistent 14,000 steps.
I also need to make sure that eat enough calories. I often end up 500 calories short even after dinner and dessert!
I'd like to also make sure I'm take 2,000 iu of Vitamin D on top of my other meds and vitamins.

Sorry. I just saw the response.. we've been busy. :p
The discussion questions are in a forum just like most other online classes. As a delayed student, she is still required to respond to these. The only difference between her and the other students is that she is not required to "attend" the lecture. She's still required to view it, but not live.

My oldest is enrolled in ancient history this year. She's young for it, but is Language and history strong. The majority of kids in her class are middle schoolers.
Her class involves a discussion board. They are required to answer one question on Monday and two responses on Wednesday. On Friday she has either an outline, a quiz, or summary due. She is required to maintain a timeline. She's a delayed student so she doesn't participate in the lecture; she views it after the fact. The lecture does involve students, though.

Thanks!
What I'm experiencing is that she is holding the thoughts in her head--she's just mentally re-wording them into her own idiom. For example, in a sentence about how animals survive in the winter, she'll transform "Some animals migrate; some stay and winter over" into "Some animals migrate; some stay until winter is over." (She does this in particular when the phrasing is unfamiliar to her.)
That seems to be the consensus! I'll stick with what I've been doing :thumbup1:
I'd correct this. It forces her to become comfortable and familiar with different phrases.

39 Clues for my oldest son.
My current young reader will read anything, including the back of a shampoo bottle. (True story.)

6. SWB's ALL will be published in 2017, so perhaps that will be a better choice.
Gasp! For sure?! I had planned to slowly do AG with my then-6th grader next year... but if ALL is coming out...

Meh. I am of the mind that science in elementary school is an exposure thing. Experiments and demonstrations can be fun, but not necessary. You can do just as good of a job with lots of library books and discussing science topics. So, for us, MS is like giving us a central theme to read around. We have paused with RSO and are working through some of the life science stuff and my kids lap it up.
It's a good springboard.

I aim for at least 10,000, but really want like 15,000. I make it about half of the time too. Right now I'm focusing on the 250 steps for nine hours. Unfortunately I missed it making dinner tonight. :(

Fitbits have to be set up originally via the computer dashboard, whether it's on the computer or on a smartphone.
If you don't set them up to sync continuously, they will still try to do it from time to time, at least daily. I don't know of a way to prevent this except keeping them apart.
My charge 2 has never been connected to anything but my smart phone.

Schoolwork is much faster one-on-one and my kids appreciate the bigger breaks while I work with their sibling.

My 3rd grader is a poor speller as well. We are plugging through Sequential Spelling but, in the end, the push is that I don't require my kids to write tomes and therefore the only time they practice spelling is during spelling. Somewhere round 3/4th grade they figure some of it out and cements.

Replacing the radio is not extremely difficult. Pull out the old one, put the wires from it to the new one and shove it in.

I got a Charge 2 at the end of December. I quite like it, though it's not as accurate as my old Zip. The Zip is the cheapest one and it only does steps. I clipped mine to my bra and loved not ever having to worry about it. The Charge sends me text/email notifications, which is quite convenient.
ETA: One big thing I do that's pretty motivational is that I signed up for a virtual race. I can walk or run or bike or whatever. I input the miles and when I finish, the people send me a medal. I like Yes.Fit because they have fun themed races.

He's hitting puberty; be patient. And I don't mean a few weeks' patience, I mean several months. He probably has put on weight, which has slowed him down a bit. But that will be followed soon by a height gain, which will give him his edge back. As long as he maintains consistent practice and effort, I would just keep cheering him on. Can you switch to an evening practice? Once DD hit 12, mornings are a non-starter here.
They are evening practices.
And I'm gonna doubt the puberty thing here because the family history is not there nor are any other physical signs besides weight gain. Won't doubt a growth spurt. He's always one to get chubby and then grow.
I'll keep waiting and watching. Age groups are the end of February and we'll still go... that will be three months from the start of his meds too.
The adding time thing just so evenly coincides with adding a stimulant that it has me nervous. It shouldn't make a difference, but still...
I'm just trying to be supportive and I want him to be happy, but it is disappointing too... :-/

He doesn't get up at 5am. Practice is at 5pm. He wakes about 7:45. And we've been pretty consistent with bedtime and melatonin if necessary and a happy light at breakfast in the morning.

Just got his 200fr results and he added 12 seconds! FWIW, his 100 back, though, was spot on with his seed time. :001_huh:

Totally.
If we lived in Minnesota it would be different but here in the PNW, snow is a rare treat and I don't make them do much for it.
We live in Alaska and we take snow days. The first day it snows for the winter, we are off. If it's heavy snow later on, we'll do half day or just math and call it good.

Writing in the early grades is really mostly copywork and talking about what you read with the kid.
Crying is a sign that something is not working.
If the kid just isn't getting it, drop it. Drop it for the day or the hour or the year, but drop it. Don't keep beating him with it hoping he'll get it.
