  1. Both of our oldest daughters received wonderful scholarships, but it was still a costly experience. They went to college within our state and without the scholarships it would have run about 15K each a year.
  2. Can he take Algebra in the summer and still have two complete years for the rest of the AA courses? That is how my middle daughter handled getting her AA in two years (while still in high school), she took Algebra during the summer before the two year program.
  3. Often the community college will make suggestions and/or requirements based on the results of the entrance tests. So, that may make your decision for you. When my oldest two took math during high school at community college, we felt it best to start with College Algebra, then one took Trig/PreCalculus and the other took Calculus. This was largely based on their test results and what they planned to study in college. We never felt that taking Algebra again was a waste of time, it helped them get a good start in college math, instead of perhaps struggling taking something that would have been a major challenge for their first college math course.
  4. I know nothing about stamps or stamp collecting, but have a collection of White Ace Historical Stamp Album Pages and lots of foreign unused stamps to sell. Does anyone know the best way to sell these? eBay? Any direction would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
  5. I often deal with extended family in somewhat of the same manner...even if I cannot record them, I just pretend I am watching a funny sitcom...it IS funny when it is NOT my relatives...laughs!!!
  6. Been there, done that....what is really bad is when you bought it once (or twice), used it and then sold it....and then end up needing it again! I used to be of the thinking...more was more (and sometimes it is), but in recent years "less IS more"....I just have one child and two years of homeschooling left though. I find I am getting to the place where after she is done...I am done with ALL the materials! Sometimes you really do not know what works best until you see it and use it yourself...you can always sell used materials...rather have too much than too little? Always good to check the motivations of our actions!!
  7. Michelle, You live in a nice area, too!
  8. Sometimes I think they are just not ready. It is not always the program(s) as much as just not being ready. Two of mine were not ready for Algebra I the first time we tried it....and we did try many programs over the course of a year with the oldest...took a step back and decided to take a math break. Eventually it all just clicked....and she went on to do fine in college math courses. That being said, finding the "right" math program for your child is an adventure and a blessing when you do find it!! Best wishes!!
  9. ....been married over 22 years! I have daughters who are 19 and 21 and glad they waiting!! :-)
  10. Baby #4 on the way, homeschooling and writing...more power to you!! I have several friends and neighbors who are authors, they all highly suggest getting an agent. Network....perhaps join some egroups that might be able to suggest a good agent? Best wishes!
  11. Most of the hotels had blow dryers. Agree with Tracey...www.ricksteves.com Excellent resource on packing, places to go and everything else! We brought a Blackberry phone and bought a chip over there to put in it. We also used voice chat over the Internet. ENJOY!!!
