  1. Here is a link I found: https://blairleeblog.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/how-two-homeschooling-moms-used-real-science-odyssey-biology-2-in-their-co-op/ Although it is for a coop, it seems to have a lot of useful links/ideas. I'm hoping to use this in the next year or two.
  2. Guesthollow has lots to choose from http://www.guesthollow.com/homeschool/history/americanhistoryindex.html
  3. I find that I get that when I print a pdf on quick/draft print. Not sure why it does it some times, but not others.
  4. I have not used either, but both Sonlight Core 100 and Winterpromise American History for HS use the Hakim books. Maybe you can find questions/tests in one of those.
  5. My 13yo is interested in paleontology, so this year we spent the first part studying geology followed by a variety of dinosaur resources. Some of resources we have been/will be using are Dino 101 a free online course, GEMS Life through Time, Peter Ackroyd Voyages through Time, and Bones Rock. Campus North now offers online high school classes for homeschoolers, and one happens to be Paleontology. We haven't tried that yet, but might add it if she is still interested come spring.
  6. My daughter has been doing the concise edition this year and loves them! She reads about 6 chapters/wk, watches the Crash Course video that roughly matches up and then does an interactive notebook activity. It really has been a great year!
  7. A lot of the gyms around here allow a trial class...perhaps some in your area do too. I would see about either signing up for a trial class or perhaps even plan to visit during the the tumbling class time, just to see how it is run, how large the class is, and to get a feel for how the coaches work with the kids.
  8. My son is very interested in WW II as well. What we have been using is a combination of Homeschool in the Woods WW II Time Traveler as well as Build Your Library WW II unit study mixed with documentaries such as The World Wars (his favorite) and some others from National Geographic. He takes a lot of rabbit trails and will spend weeks studying the planes, GI gear, or Nazis in depth. I have found the rabbit trails is where he really builds his knowledge. We have been able to take field trips to WW II reenactments, WW II maritime museums, and plan on visiting a Holocaust Memorial in the spring. He has been studying this for almost a year now, and has not grown bored of it. I have a feeling we will be continuing for a while :)
  9. I came across The Confident Mom today. It seems similar to Motivated Moms, but you can edit it...and it is free. You can find it at the bottom of this page http://www.theconfidentmom.com/services/classes-products/household-planner-sales-page/
  10. I got a 5 here. Really seemed to be spot on for me.
  11. My 5th grader has been enjoying Guesthollow Anatomy. She has tons of resources to select from.
  12. My 11yo loves rocket building (and Lego)! He always selects Estes Rockets. I just asked him what he recommends and he suggested this set as it comes with a rocket and launch pad and is easy to assemble. He said you will need to buy engines and recovery wadding separately. He said that he would be able to learn a lot from Youtube as well ;) I would also suggest looking for a rocket club in the area. Enjoy!
  13. My husband stumbled upon this Algebra Calculator this morning. Looks pretty good ~ it even shows the steps.
  14. After going to their FB page, I found it here http://www.gossipcop.com/thanksgiving-day-parade-live-stream-2014-watch-macys-online-streaming-video/
  15. With 7 children, it would be a bit much for them to buy gifts for every sibling. What we have done is on Thanksgiving, the kids draw names from a hat and buy or make for that particular sibling. We help fund those who are under 6, but those over generally use their own money (with help, if needed). December is a great month to help out with extra chores to earn a few dollars...and we slow school down enough that there is plenty of time for handmade gifts.
  16. I did find this list http://www.unm.edu/~wilcox/UNM/univlist.html It appears to have been last updated in Jan 2014.
  17. I know that there is this one based on the videos: http://wateronthefloor.wordpress.com/free-curriculum/magic-school-bus-science/
  18. Actually, I stumbled across it when I was looking at new movies. It popped up when I just typed in "Life in our universe". Here is a link http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/80017157
  19. Just saw that Netflix has added Life in our Universe from the Great Courses to their streaming. I think this is the second Great Courses they have had in the past few months. Hopefully it's a trend!
  20. I have been looking for something similar for my 13yo and found that K12 has a high school Fashion and Interior Design class. Although the class is a bit advanced for her, maybe you could get some ideas from the course outline and objectives found here http://www.k12.com/courses/scope-sequence/fashion-interior-design-elective-oth018#.VE0bMvnF-So
  21. True Stories of the First World War by Usborne is on my son's wish list.
  22. The only one I know of is The Math Dude's Quick and Dirty Guide to Algebra. I haven't used it, but it is on my list for my boys when they get older.
