  1. I would (and did) put "Homeschool Tutor" on my resume. It's one of the things I've been doing for the last 12 years and I'm proud of that work. I also described the position (researching, organizing, and implementing curricula for three students). During the job interview, I had the uncanny feeling that everything I'd been doing at home was training for this job; the interviewers asked about multitasking (ha!), interacting with unhappy individuals, and keeping volunteers on task, as well as my familiarity with children's literature and what I'd do if I saw a 2-yr-old running towards the stairs. (It's a job at the library).

OP - I'd definitely draw the lines between what you've been doing with curricula at home and how that overlaps with the position. Best wishes!

  2. Currently planning to have generous (possibly masked) friends 😁 serve the food. So no shared serving utensils. Or have pre-portioned food for people to pick up. Food isn’t a spreader, so this isn’t a big concern for me.

This thread is helping me think through some logistics! Thanks for starting it!

  3. Our state restrictions are currently at 100 people outdoors. Not sure what they’ll be in June, but we’re planning a party at the park with 50-100 people. Food served by friends (whom I haven’t asked yet 😁), short ceremony, and outdoor games. I assume that those uncomfortable with gatherings won’t come, which is fine.

OP - do you know any farmers or country folks where you could gather in more privacy?

  4. New to low-carb/keto and we really like this for breakfast:

Line muffin tin wells with bulk sausage (1# for 12 wells). Beat together 6 eggs and some cream (1/4c?); season with salt and pepper or other seasoning. Pour into sausage cups. Top with shredded cheese (~1Tbsp/well). Bake at 350F for 20-30 minutes (until sausage is cooked and eggs are set; they will puff up and brown lightly).

These can be made ahead and reheated.

Once, pre-marriage, dh got a call at 2am that his office was flooding and he needed to get down there right away to help move stuff. He asked if they had called Frank, his boss, yet?

We're just calling everybody on the floor, you need to get down here.

*brain comes fully online* Wait a minute, my cubicle is on the second floor....

Yikes. What were they planning to do when he showed up/ left home???

and now is getting back into practicing the piano so that he can play - you guessed it -- all the soundtracks from his favorite games.

DD’s violin teacher is part of a quartet that plays video game music. They play for gaming conferences, etc. They’ve released multiple albums. (He’s also part of a regular symphony and he teaches). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvgDoNUM2jU

All that to say: You never know where an obsession will lead! 😊

  7. DH got shingles two years ago. It was mostly on his face, which we were told is less painful. He didn’t have much pain, but does have a cool scar above his eyebrow now.

DS2 ( the one child we had vaccinated for cp) came down with cp after DH’s shingles. DS1 and DD (no cp vaccine) got it shortly thereafter. Everyone was miserable for awhile. Unfortunately, there are a few scars from picking scabs on faces.

I had cp as a child and did not get shingles from DH; we didn’t distance from each other or anything.

OP, hope your kids feel better soon!

  8. Mentioned above but worth repeating: show and tell your DH that you love him. Support him however you can. Job hunting can be more discouraging than losing a job, and (IME) he needs to feel that you love and respect him no matter what.
    Praying for you all!
