  1. I vent to my brother. He's my best friend. That's probably strange. Eh.
  2. I think I would smack someone who said "Hashtag _______ WHATEVER!" to me in conversation. I wouldn't be able to restrain myself.
  3. I've pretty much always got that baby bug. I see my friends having more, and after I had the first one, I always thought I would have three. I don't really know why.... It just seemed like the right number. But I love my two too much to imagine leaving them without a mommy to fulfill a desire to have another.
  4. I don't think, for me, that I would want to have a baby past 30. But I had my first at 21 and my baby at 23. Not that it matters. I'm 26 now and have been advised that trying to carry another baby would likely kill me. But I so admire women who waited until later to have their kids-- that was my plan, but God had other plans for me. So.... Whenever your body is ready, I guess is okay!
  5. I <3 Oswald! It's so mellow. It's like a shot of valium... For me & the kids. lol
  6. You know, I answered that I cry "often," but as I think about it, I have realized that I *feel like crying* often, but that I rarely actually cry anymore. I think it's because I know that seeing me cry distresses the kidlets, so I've learned to save it for what is really worth all of that.
  7. I just accepted your request. Now I need to give everyone nicknames so I know who everyone is.
  8. Just call me WingSnitch3572... Watching my inbox!
  9. My mother is Not-Mom and my grandma was Mommaw to my generation and our littles. Their dad's grandma is Granny, but everyone else is Grandma X, either their last name or first name, depending on what each lady prefers. My grandfather's new wife, who the kids adore, is just Connie.
  10. We use plastic snap traps baited with peanut butter. Our cat likes to play with mice when she finds them. She will terrorize them, and then let them go to play another day. We caught/killed five of them this winter. They've never been a real problem in our house before (on occasion we've caught one at a time), but the house next door has been vacant now for almost 3 years, and is now playing host to stray cats, squirrels, and God knows what else. I think this is what has made mice a problem in our neighborhood. Yuck!
  11. Imp! I've been lurking for a few days after a long absence of my own... and I just had to look up your posts to see why you hadn't been around. Someone asked if anyone was HS with long-term illness, and it made me think of you. Glad to see you!
  12. Chattanooga, TN. Beautiful. Big enough city to provide a lot of educational opportunities, but easy enough to get out into the beautiful country areas. The Ocoee Whitewater Center in Ducktown, the Blue Ridge Mountains... I went to college in that area, and I really miss it.
  13. My old neighbors were like that. New pets every few months that they got rid of within a few weeks. We had to give up our first "baby," a 5-year-old Boxer we had rescued before we had children, when A was born because he wasn't safe for children. The rescue we got him from placed him in another childless home.... I still feel bad about that, and it was almost 6 years ago now. :( But.... people are dumb. :glare:
  14. Ok. A poll of my three teenage brothers suggests that kids that age should know what the IRS is. And they're not even employed teens.
  15. That's my take on it as well. It wouldn't be hard for me to share a man. But I could NOT allow someone else equal "control" over how my children are raised. Let's be honest-- I am the one who makes the majority of the parenting decisions in our family, and I like it that way. ;)
  16. And then... he could split up the next book like he did the last 2. Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons were originally meant to be one book.... This could be a looooooong progression.
  17. I'll be suffering through an identical supper tonight. And likely every 15th and 31st of October for years to come. It's DS's favorite meal option, so we have it on Halloween and on his birthday. They're fun... but YUCK!
  18. DS: A, Albie, Bug, Booger, Bubba, Pele (Did I mention he has a soccer fixation? He can't start playing until the spring, but he's obsessed!) My mom's sisters call him Louie. (Mostly just because it makes me mad, I think.) DD: Boo, Pooh, Princess P, P, Prissy Collectively, I refer to them as the Monkeys. "Come on, Monkeys...."
  19. 3 things. 1. I would cook 2 birds. Maybe 3. 2. Brine the birds first. I generally soak mine overnight. 3. It is sooooo worth the effort.
