  1. We looked at them but ultimately decided on the Mazda 5. The Dodge Journey had bad reviews at the time. We love our Mazda 5. It gets great gas mileage and runs really well.
  2. I like the Neighbors but don't get a chance to watch it very often.
  3. I was hesitant to do this but have now done it twice. My dd loves it. I even had ds do it last time. He got a sword, shield, and cape. When we go in May, the kids will be doing the Pirates league. They make you over as a pirate or mermaid. Should be fun.
  4. Also, I would NOT do Caledonia!! Kenosha or pleasant Prairie would be you best bets.
  5. I grew up in Kenosha. It's a nice place to live. If I were to move back I'd choose Pleasant Prarie. It's just newer. My parents still live in Kenosha. Most of the city is nice but there are a few areas that I would want to stay away from. It is easy to spot those neighborhoods though, just by looking at them.
  6. We had a daddy locked his keys in his car so we have to go unlock the car day, a couple of months ago. He works 45 minutes away so it took a while.
  7. 1. Coats stay in the car to be put on upon arrival at destination. 2. No socks. Ds has "fuzzy" crocs and dd hates socks anyway. I keep a pair in my purse for each kid. 3. Hang outfits together. They just have to grab a hanger. Little decision making needed. I generally allow 15 minutes extra drive time depending on distance. This helps in case of traffic and/or last minute 20 minute potty breaks as we're walking out the door.
  8. What?! I read the comics and did NOT see that. I need to check that out again. I remember Carol killing herself but definitely not the threesome part. Anyway, I think the reason Carol didn't make herself known sooner in the woods was because of Tyrese. She thought that Rick had told him about killing the 2 people. She had to wait until the girls were alone to help them. She thought she'd be killed if she didn't.
  9. My dd will be 7 end of March and is a lot like that. She still reverses b/d at times but only for writing and usually catches herself now. Everything else you've mentioned is just how she is. It's not an intelligence issue but a maturity issue.
  10. We will mostly be doing the next level of what we use now. - Math Mammoth 4 (using Singapore now and might continue) - FLL3, WWE2, Spelling Workout C, Pentime Cursive - finish Apoligia Swimming and Flying Creatures and either start Land Animals or switch to Wile's In the Beginning - VP self paced New Testament and Ancient Greece, continue with Sonlight B and start C - Artelier Art Extras: ballet, swimming, gymnastics, GEMS, maybe theater and/or piano
  11. We just finished Mountain Born yesterday and started Wheel on the School today. We're reading through the Little House series at bedtime, just finished On the Shores of Silver Lake. Up next is The Long Winter. Ds gets various picture books.
  12. Lunch is done. Dd is doing her VP history. I'm going to try to tackle the kitchen now.
  13. Sorry for you loss Amy. Sounds like I need to start watching Sherlock. So far today I've done: Shower Breakfast Drop dd at coop Grocery shop Supper in crock pot Still have: Lunch Clean and organize kitchen Clean dining room table School with dd Watch Downton Abbey Put a load of laundry away
  14. I'm reading through the first one now. It's a cute add on but not necessary for their curriculum. There are 2 boys, one is a Christian, the other is not. It is illegal to talk about God or the Bible. There is a hidden room in the library that contains a Bible (I hope I'm remember in this correctly). The boys discover this and when they open the book they time travel to the past. They meet different animals along the way that act as guides for the places they travel. I've just gotten to the point I the book where they add in information about things going on around the time of Joseph and Moses. It helps to see how everything, Biblical and other history, fit together.
  15. I'm going to try to tackle the master bedroom today. I need to go through the closet and clean off the dressers. I cleaned the cabinets under all three bathroom sinks yesterday. :) DH and kids have been assigned to clean the playroom. If the snow stops we'll make a goodwill run.
  16. I don't have much, but probably should. We're urban though so if there was an issue we could take a very short walk to a store ect. My mom always keeps a small shovel, warm clothes, and kitty litter in the trunk.
  17. I wouldn't choose to live in the city. It's just not my preference. There are some nice suburbs south and west of the city. You just have to make sure you're near a Metra line. Wheaton is a good choice. Also Naperville, and Aurora (a bit of a less expensive option). We live in Plainfield, which is a really great place but there is no train. If you live downtown you will be in Cook county. If you decide to move to the suburbs I would try my hardest to avoid Cook county.
  18. We went to Yosemite last June. It was so beautiful. We were in CA during the 108 degree temps and Yosemite was actually chilly. It was a nice reprieve from the heat. We have not made it to Yellowstone so I can't compare the two for you.
  19. I've just read through up to the chapter that has the first books to read- novels. I was going to start with Don Quiote. I don't remember the paragraph you're talking about. I'll have to go back and read it again. I started reading TWEM last summer and just picked it up again last week.
  20. I worked in hospice. There is also home health nursing. It's probably best to have some hospital nursing experience before doing either of this things though. She could also work in a dialysis clinic or cancer center. When I finished school (bachelor of science in nursing), I worked on the labor and delivery floor for a year. I then briefly worked in a doctors office which was not a good use of my skills at all! I went on to work in a nursing home as the nurse manager of an Alzheimer's unit. I did that for a couple of years and moved on to hospice. If I ever go back to work again I will either work Alzheimer's patients again or hospice.
  21. There are a ton of homeschool groups and opportunities in the area you're talking about. It is very easy to homeschool here. You don't have to report to anyone. Just keep your own records in case anything ever comes up (extremely rare). I think if I were to work in Wheeling I'd want to live in Buffalo Grove.
  22. We have another busy morning. Breakfast-done Shower Make dd's school to do list Take Ds to story hour while I go to bible study Lunch Math, science and read aloud with DD Clean dining room Figure out something for supper
